Depression affects everyone, not just you but your family, friends; even the way you interact with people you don’t even know. Sometimes your depression could be so bad, that you don’t even attempt to meet new people, you don’t leave your house; worse scenario is when the depression that leads to suicide.

Handling depression is not easy, it is scary and many people will tell you to just get over it and move on. They don’t understand, the joy of living has been removed from your heart, the things you enjoy doing is gone and worse, simple things like preparing a meal becomes overwhelming. Many try to stay strong, keep the chin up, and push themselves, so that no body knows what is really happening inside. Then the depression is compounded by the fear of letting love ones down, others seeing you as weak and in many cases others not really understanding that depression is a mental illness that require medical attention.

Lets me be very clear about depression, it is a serious condition, it can be emotional, physical and interfere with simple everyday functions.

Emotionally you are sad, you rather be left alone since no one really understand how your feeling, and this makes us irritable and frustrated for many reasons; such as not being understood, and worse hating the feeling that are overwhelming you.

Physically when a person is depressed they have problems sleeping, either they sleep constantly, don’t sleep at all, or have trouble falling asleep because their mind is racing about the things the should have done. They complain of muscle and joint pain, which is not really there, but the body aches because the person on the whole is hurting.

They say they have no energy and feel exhausted, but the truth is their desire to do even the things they like is gone. For some they are just waiting for something “more” negative to happen; or worse they are waiting to die.
