Deviant Cat

Maui the cat on social norms.

Deviance is a sociological term that refers to the violation of social norms. A social norm is what has been deemed as acceptable by a society. Being a cat and an author can pretty much be called deviant behavior. Most cats do not write articles. Actually, I don’t know any feline writers or feline readers. It is kind of discouraging that I do not have any readers who are cats. When I talk with all of my cat-friends about my articles, they just stare at me with a glazed over look. Have you ever seen two cats get in a staring contest with each other? Well, that is about the reaction I get from other cats. Writing is my deviant behavior.

I would like to talk about some other deviant behaviors that do not go over well for me. When I was kitten, I had this bright idea to try to walk on two legs to be more like humans. I have no idea how people do that all the time. Walking on two legs was extremely tiring and comfortable. People should just use four like cats. It is so much easier. I have decided that walking on two legs is not for cats. Probably, it is a good idea.

Also, there is this concept of a toilet. I liked drinking out of it is very convenient for me, but one day I walked into the bathroom to realize what people do in toilets. This is very disgusting. I don’t raid your refrigerator poop in your Pepsi. I wish people would just use the litter box. It is just much more sanitary. I believe that several sexual fetishes can be viewed as deviant behavior. Humans are just weird and need to stop urinating in my drinking water.

My cats never walked on two legs the way you tried to do, but drinking from the toilet, or a sink with a drippy faucet was something they did. I don’t know how you can call it convenient though when you have to jump up to the seat and bend down to the water. My one cat when it got older and developed balance problems even fell into the toilet, so be careful.

Okay, this is fun. I only wish that my Dusty had been able to write as well as you, it would have made communication so much easier.

Maui would just like to say that. A toilet is like buying a big gulp from 7-11, and for some reason the water stays colder in the bathroom so it is more refreshing. Drinking from a faucet is nice for him because he loves moving water.

Ha Ha very good. Just make sure you cover your litter box business and you’ll get along fine with humans.
