Societal values vs. Personal Values

How the fast changing society has started to clash with the personal values of individuals.

Everyone has heard their grandfathers and fathers say that they had to walk up hill both ways to get to and from school. That they get strapped at school for poor behavior. That was acceptable to society. Why did society change? As time goes on and definitions are given to words that weren’t commonly used back then, Society changes the views to fit the descriptive words that have meanings in different ways. Now a neglectful parent takes their child out of one school and puts them in another for better attention to the needs of the students. Her child gets taken away for wanting the best for her child. Does that really work?

Spanking and time outs are not allowed anymore without having to wonder if someone will speak against you. As a parent who has to say that I actually wish that I had been spanked more, I was a terrible teenager because I wasn’t properly disciplined. I never got great trouble or punishment for anything that I did. Without that society blames the parents of the youth that cause fights and kills, using drugs and alcohol. How can that be the parents fault when the means of showing that there are consequences to one actions consists of “don’t do it again” and that is all. There is no consequence and that was learned early on and taken advantage of once learned.

Society, wonders why the crime rate is up in a lot of places and yet is it not society claiming that it is just misguided youth that needs a second, third and fourth chance? Society does not seem to grasp the elevated problems due to the tightening circle of what is acceptable and what isn’t. Again blame the parents for not being able to discipline without fear of children being taken away. Blame the parents for following what society find acceptable for the guidelines of parenting. Society needs to put two and two together and how crime increases as well as how parents are blamed for many things that parents have no control of anymore because society says. When society is taken apart and parents can do what they need to crime rates will drop.

Smoking used to happen everywhere. I am in the middle of quitting but you nearly can’t walk down the streets in Canada without having someone telling you to put your smoke out. It has become extremely difficult to accomplish anything that is not viewed as acceptable to society. Breathing is has almost become unacceptable, the only thing is that without breathing society and its control over the population wouldn’t exist. Nothing would. Figure that society has become an extreme sport that the masses need to win over so that society will stop setting a height at an acceptable level of everything and everyday living. Society says parents this and cars that. Environmental concerns, crime rates increasing, Not knowing where they can put an end to what is viewed unacceptable.

Society is getting in the way. Personal values should come first and people should respect the ways that people were raised with. Society has questions and security concerns and maybe Society should consider what they have put for the standards and why it’s questions go unanswered. As I have observed, Society creates problems and security concerns, only to create more and wonder how it happened. How things got out of control, how parents could allow their children to do things that are unacceptable. How each individual isn’t making an effort to right the wrongs. There is a noose around each individual’s neck placed there by society, and society is ready to make the noose tighter. Society has become the problem not the individuals.

Great article! Especailly about the way society sees punishment for our youth today. America wonders why we have so many kids in trouble and disrespecting adults and authority. Because parents are not allowed to punish their children. Scares me to think how the next couple of generations are going to be with the way kids are getting away with today.

The sad part is continous neglect of society as a whole is what is causing such great issues in everything that an individual does. Nothing comes free anymore. Labels and consequenses to those who follow their own values are now the result of what society is wanting. Society should be re examined and put to an end.
