Boundary Free

Some thoughts on the philosophy behind "No Boundary" by Ken Wilbur.

When there are limits then there boundaries and one defines things outside yourself as external and not you. But when you are living in the real world, it is very difficult not to male distinctions because pairs of opposites exist everywhere we go and under all conditions. The trick is learning how not to make distinctions if you want to be able to appreciate detachment from the whole issue of labeling and dichotomies. Theorists to this vein of thought say that would be the way to appreciate one way of thought and the other without getting locked in any particular opinion.

Without boundaries there would no borders between states, no reason to seek conflicts with others and as the Dalai Lama suggested we would live in peace because we gave ourselves the chance to understand one another. He has taken great pains to try and understand the reasons for the aggression of the Chinese in his native country.

Without boundaries there would be a better appreciation of life and the end of it would be welcomed and not feared. But I live in a real world where I dread death because I haven’t been convinced that there could be anything else afterwards; the fear of the unknown does not help me either.  If I were to think that the two are one and there is unity in life and death then perhaps the fear will dissipate. That might be a way of dealing with the annoying question of fear when one wants courage. When one starts to see death as a quality encompassed in this life cycle then I might be able to be less fearful of any impending mortality.
