Emotional Vitamins

A way to repair our emotionally damaged inner selves.

We humans are complex beings!  Besides our physical bodies, we have spiritual, mental, and emotional components.   There are times when we need medical attention for our physical ailments; fulfilling nourishment for our spiritual needs; medication   and/or  professional therapy for mental attention; and motivational stimulation for our emotionally damaged inner-self.  It may be that there is an overlapping of these needs.  This discussion is about identifying an tending to the emotional component.

At times likes, dislikes, fears and choices are determined by events in our experiences in our life journey.   While many of these events may have had positive affects on who we are, today, at times some of our behaviour is governed by the negative impact of past experiences.

In the arena of  Behavioral Therapy, there is what I call “blocked energy”.  This is an emotionally damaging event in our past, (distant or relatively recent), which prevents us from going forward in our lives, sustaining a balanced, satisfying, “normal” existence.  We thus are carrying this baggage, impacting our self-esteem,socializing skills, and mental stability.

There are “alternative”  methods which assist in identifying these energy blocks such as muscle testing, Touch For Health(R),  which can be helpful. (for anyone interested,  I will discuss “muscle-testing” in a future discussion, based on my program designed for this).

Let us assume there is an emotional chink in your armor, related to low self esteem.  You need to form an “affirmation”  to address this.  An “affirmation” is a positive phrase formed to feed your emotional well being, which points you in the opposite direction of the incident(s) which have had a devastating effect on your psyche’.  Notice, I say “a positive” phrase.  This is the characteristic that makes it an emotional vitamin.

For example.   John Smith, (fictional),  48 years old,  has difficulties dealing with his bosses.   In fact various encounters with his employers have, over the years,  resulted in termination.  While there may be other contributing factors,  he  is  going to try an introspective approach – to address something within his experiences that can be at the root of the problem.

After some deliberation,  it is determined that one of the most  powerful negative influences in his childhood had been being constantly  derided for not completing tasks, to the satisfaction of his father.” You’re just a lazy heap of trash.  You’ll never amount to anything.  You should look at your brother – be like him”.

John’s affirmation might sound like this:  Every day I’m growing in my trust in my abilities and cooperating with authority”,

John will start each day saying this to himself (silently or audibly), and repeating at intervals throughout the day.

This is not mystic, not a mantra or chant.  It does not take the place of prayer, (a spiritual issue).   This is only a stimulant for John’s emotional well-being.   This is a method of positively “programming himself for success.
