Finding Peace in This Confusing World
Ways to find ones own peace.
Peace be with you, my peace I give to you. I shake my fellow parishners hand and wish them peace. But, how do we really find that peace in these sometimes very confusing times?
First and foremost, I feel we have to look into our own hearts. We have to find peace within ourselves before we can spread that peace to others around us. None of us are perfect. When we make mistakes, we have to try and mend the errors the best we can, if possible, and move on. I ask the good lord for forgiveness, and then I try to forgive myself. I try to learn from my mistakes and hopefully don’t continue to repeat them, time and again. I have a tendency to dwell on the past and end up getting anxious and depressed. This can become a burden on myself, as well as everyone else around me. I’m not helping myself and certainly am not very pleasant to be around. In essence, don’t dwell on the past, look ahead to a hopefully, brighter, fulfilling future.
Helping out your fellow man, whenever possible is another way to find peace, I have found. What goes around, comes around, and what you reap is what you sew. Being a good neighbor helps you feel better. Doing it out of the goodness of your heart, rather then for praise and glory, works wonders.
Always, always, pray to the good lord for peace. Whatever your belief, most of us look up to a supreme being. Prayers aren’t always answered the way we think they should be. God works in mysterious ways. “I prayed for a new pair of shoes, and looked around, and saw a helpless child with no feet.” Prayer can open our hearts to the needs of others, instead of our own selfish ones.
Peace be with you my friend, my peace I give to you. If we can live by this motto, we will find the peace we are looking for, in due time, I feel.
