How to Meditate

The results of meditation can be taken advantage of with a few simple steps:

  •  Place your self in a quiet comfortable place in a sitting position.
  •  Bring whatever you need to help you relax (Music, scents, the sound of running water) whatever helps you relax.
  •  Make sure that you are sitting straight with your back aligned – Mantra’s or short sentences to be used during the next step are helpful- As an example  I am – One  with Love
  •  Begin with a deep breath (I am) then exhale slowly (One with Love) the words are not necessary but do help with the concentration on you breath which is what induces the meditative state. Actually what ever you would like to reinforce would work great during this exercise. Goals and aspirations are also appropriate just make sure the self talk statement is short and to the point.
  •  Once you have a rhythm to your breathing and become aware of your thoughts, let each one come of it’s own accord and pay attention to the feelings they induce without reacting to them individually.

To begin with 3-5 minutes will begin to train your self in this process, it will occur without effort through practice. It is even possible to create this consciousness at any point during your day after you have mastered the technique. When you are available to step back from the chaos of this day and watch rather than react. This is when personal growth becomes possible. Prayer is also incorporated with most forms or practices of meditation. This is a chance to spend sometime with your self improving your self.
