Intuition And Coincidence

by Aline Hanle in Spirituality, March 4, 2007

Understand and decipher the silent signs around us…

What would you do if you had the answers to your personal existential questions? How fulfilled would you feel if you could unveil the secret of your higher purpose?

Anyone who possesses this knowledge is empowered with a feeling of tranquility and serenity about their Life choices. This power is available to whoever deciphers the language of our subtle and higher self – our soul. Our own soul creates series of coincidental events and situations to communicate information, answers, directions, or problem solving responses. The interpretation of these enigmatic synchronicities is the fundamental link to a meaningful existence. Our intuition is the code breaker.

Coincidence is God way of staying anonymous: “I refuse to prove that I exist,” said God, “for proof denies faith and without faith, I am nothing”(anonymous).

“Synchronization bridges the gap between the conscious and the unconscious” (Patricia R. Upczak).

When you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities” (Deepak Chopra).

Synchronicity or coincidence is a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection. Does non-apparent mean inexistent?

The invisibility characteristic refers here to the imperceptibility of the phenomenon with our collective accepted concept of five common senses – sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. These senses cannot detect the subtlety of a coincidental occurrence. The human being is naturally born with a skill to identify and interpret coincidences. It operates like a computer: get data, process them and give an accurate interpretation of the situation.

Each of us is equipped with this sixth sense: subtle, invisible and accurate: this is our intuition. Its accuracy and reliability are its main characteristics. The one who masters its interpretation, masters the path.

The reliability of this system is undeniable. It functions anywhere and everywhere, at any time and in any circumstance. Its accuracy is precise and perfectly linked to one’s higher purpose – even rightness and wrongness become irrelevant.

From a geographic perspective, it appears that the meaning of the term coincidence itself travels from one explanation to its paradox between the western and the eastern cultures.

Thus, while a western-cultured background associates synchronicity with luck and law of probability, it appears that the eastern civilization approaches the term from another perspective.

For example, the Japanese translation for coincidence brings a variety of possibilities: heihatsu (coincidence), fugou (negative sign, mark, symbol, wealthy), angou (code, password) and icchi (agreement, union, match, conformity). Do these different meanings only imply distinct circumstances or can they imply distinct degree of understanding of a circumstance.

I am referring here to a degree of perceptiveness, awareness and comprehension about a situation because one can perceive the reason behind the occurrence.

We can only stare in awe before the irony of the Japanese translation for the word coincidence. How can it possibly mean simultaneously coincidence, password and agreement? Are we faced, here, with a pure lexical accident or a definite message?

One way to know is to ask scientific or theological experts. However, the bias perspective of human being will automatically reach one or the other possibility with probably valid points on both sides. Therefore, is the truth cannot be found outside, would it be sensible to look within?

Interestingly, the online catholic encyclopedia gives a word origin for intuition as: from the Latin intueri: “to look into”. According the same source, it is a psychological and philosophical term that designates the process of immediate apprehension or perception of an actual fact, being, or relation between two terms and its results.

This would most likely eliminate the bias factor and ensure the accuracy of the response.

And now comes the real issue: How does an entity recognize his/her intuitive potential and interpret it? According Edgar Cayce’s reading after the following question was asked to him”

10. (Q) Suggest how the entity may train self in the present to the study and use of this intuitive sense.
(A) Train intuition? Then, how would you train electricity – save as to how it may be governed! By keeping in self those thoughts, those activities of the mental mind, those activities of the body that allow spiritual truths to emanate through. To train such! Not train, but govern! Govern it by knowing that the mind, that the body, that the influences are such that these are not sidetracked from the ideals and purposes that are set before self. So develop. For God, the Giver of all good and perfect gifts, He who metes to every soul that which is the companionship to its activities in a material life, guards, and guides and keeps those that in sincerity seek to know HIS way, irrespective of the other influences that may be about a body. Hence, in governing, in guarding, in guiding such forces, such powers that arise or manifest or demonstrate through the activities of the body, keep the body, the mind, the soul, in attune with the spheres of celestial forces, rather than of earthly forces. Rather than listening to that which is poetically given as to the voice that arises from the earth, listen to that which comes as the music of the spheres, that: “Let others scoff, let others laugh, but know in self that He has promised to be THY God, THY protector, THY help, in every time of trouble.

Intuition cannot be trained, learned or bought. Intuition can only be discovered, remembered or lived. Whether or not aware of it, coincidences will be brought forth, presented to us as guidance from a higher field. Only when decoded, deciphered and personally interpreted will they be useful.

Trust that synchronicities are showing us the way. Believe that co-occurrences are more than odd accidents but true divine interventions. Finally, have faith that by following the light we will understand the blind with his stick that walks and never falls…
