Karma: The Cosmic Justice
Believe in it or not this is just one man’s opinion on the power of karma!
So first off, I am NOT a religious man! I have never been into any organized religion of any kind. However, I do respect everyone’s right to believe in whatever they want to. God, Allah, Buddha…whatever you like is fine with me as long as you don’t try and force it on me. However, over the years I have slowly come to believe in that mysterious power called Karma.
As I have experienced events in my life I noticed certain things. If you treat people the way that you would want to be treated things tend to go smoother. If you run around treating people like shit all the time, then guess what, you’ll get treated like shit! So, don’t get pissed off when you get treated that way! It’s karma!!!
Now, I will give you an example of karma that worked in my life. In the past couple of years at different times, I have found three ladies purses left in shopping carts in the parking lot of our local retail store. Each time, I quickly rushed the purse inside to the customer service counter and turned it in. So, here recently I took my nine year old daughter shopping at this store for new winter items and groceries. She picked out a pair of black leather boots, that were not only stylish and cool but would serve nicely as snow boots too. She was happy, so I was happy. We finished our other shopping, checked out, loaded up the cart and headed to the car. When we got home we unloaded everything into the house and went about the task of putting groceries away. After lunch, I laid down to watch football on T.V. Three hours later, my daughter marched into my room and demanded to know where her new boots were. Confused, I stared at her and said “Duh…I don’t know.” Slowly, the light bulb lit up in my head and it dawned on me that the box with the boots had been on the bottom of the shopping cart and chances were we had left them there. For some lucky reason, I still had my sales receipt. So, receipt in hand I headed back to the store. I went to customer service and told them my sad story of loss. They looked around and returned with the box of boots. “Here they are, sir. Someone found them in the parking lot and turned them in”, said the customer service lady. I thanked her and took them. As I turned, an elderly lady was standing there. She had been watching and she commented to me, “Sir, you must be blessed. You’re so lucky someone didn’t just keep those instead of turning them in.” I smiled and said to her, “Well, I guess it makes up for the three different purses I have found and turned in over the years!” It’s karma!!!
