Meditation Can be Pleasurable
How to meditate and what meditation is and is not. It will show what meditation can be beneficial and yet be very dangerous if done in a wrong way.
There are many different meditation types that are used in Yoga. Then there is Yoni Mudra, where a person would close their ears with their thumbs, then with your index finger, cover your eyes, and with your middle fingers pinch your nose. While doing all this, then the person would press their lips together with remaining fingers and then when meditating, release you middle finger as you inhale and exhale. There are so many forms of meditation all to numerous to name. Some claim that meditation is a good way to relieve stress and pressure of daily problems. They also claim that by allowing ones mind and body to just relax and let go. They let go of their restrictions and the restrictions others impose on them. This is a form of empting ones mind, escaping from reality.
Meditation can be very beneficial; it is what we meditate on and how we meditate. For example, if we meditate of ponder on true and positive things, meditation is very beneficial. Meditation done the correct way is pleasurable also. If we read a story about the positive effect of exercise and we need exercise for better health, then we might meditate or use the act of continued or extended thought; reflection; contemplation. Isn’t that the real definition of what meditation really is?
Philippians 4:8 says: “8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things.” Did you take note that the was no intense concentration on putting one’s fingers in your ears, or emptying the mind, nor sitting in any set position, just plain contemplation, reflection and extended thought? We can not contemplate or reflect, or give extended thought to anything if we empty our minds, as Yoga and Yoni Mudra, and other forms of meditation’s suggest us to do.
I do believe though that meditation has its place and is important to our bodies and minds, if done the right way. For instance, think about God’s qualities, his awesome accomplishments and what he requires of each of us. Contemplate these things and you can learn and refresh your minds and bodies with the glorious ways of God that leave one feeling joyful, content, and at the same time we fill our minds and heart with God’s wonderful ways.
This type of meditation or reflect, contemplating and having extended thought, can and is the best way to meditate. After all, if one empties their mind, this is very dangerous because and empty mind not only invites others to put what they want to into our minds but opens the way to mind control by others. Many who claim to know about meditation and the empting of minds are not always honest and most places love to play music with subliminal messages in them. While one empties their mind the music that relaxes you also places that subliminal message into your mind. How easy this becomes for those who wish to control others. One can not contemplate, have extended thoughts, or reflect on anything with an empty mind, yet that is what true meditation is. We all need to wake up to this fact. Those who sell meditation tapes and classes are out to make money. These ones don’t really care if you are refreshed, relaxed or if your sessions with them are beneficial or pleasurable to you. They only think about how much money you will pay them to place your thumbs in your ears or sit a certain way or if their subliminal message will get to you.
Reminding ourselves that God loves us and keeps “paying attention” so, when we think about him, we can indeed make godly meditation a pleasure. Therefore, may we echo the words of the psalmist who wrote: “I shall certainly meditate on all your activity, and with your dealings I will concern myself.”-Psalm 77:12.
May we all use meditation, which means extended thought, reflection, and contemplation, so as to benefit our minds and bodies so as to be relaxed, refreshed, and find pleasure, without allowing others to control our minds and thoughts.
