Santa Monica Residents Attend Day-Long Vipassana Retreat
If you are in Santa Monica the 20th of June and are an old Vipassana student, you know where to go!
Santa Monica will recently host a day long Vipassana retreat for old students. Students must bring their own lunch and be prepared to close their eyes, sit on the floor, and (yes) refrain from talking the whole day. “Why would anyone do this?” you might wonder. It sounds very difficult!”
To be truthful, it is. Regardless of what religious affiliations you might have, Vipassana meditation helps people become more equanimous, relaxed, and happy people. You don’t have as much time to worry when you are meditating and not thinking.
Old students have already spent ten days meditating at a rate of ten hours day. For those attending the retreat in Santa Monica, none of this is new. If they have forgotten what it feels like, the intention of this day long practice is to reacquaint them with being aware of their bodies and breathing patterns.
