Shuffle: Personal Growth Through the Chakras
A short piece outlining the Chakra system and the influence it can have on personal growth.
An awareness of the Chakra system is still relatively young for me although its tradition and influence has been growing since the 10th century.
Chakra - from the Sanskrit meaning ” wheel” – are 7 centres of energy pervading the whole of the body: the base chakra located at the end of the large intestine, the sacral chakra relates to the sexual organs, the solar plexus chakra, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the brow chakra and the crown chakra which, as the name suggests, is located at the top of the head.
Briefly, I will present to you the characteristics of each chakra, but if you wish to learn more about them I would recommend Naomi Ozaniec’s book ” The Elements of The Chakras” as a more in depth guide:
- The Base Chakra’s is associated with survival and the inner state of stability.
- The Sacral Chakra relates to well-being, creativity and sexuality.
- The Solar Plexus Chakra centres around will, power and intense emotions.
- The Heart Chakra governs compassion and love.
- The Throat Chakra identifies with communication, synthesis and creativity.
- The Brow Chakra applies to self-mastery, intuition and perception.
- The Crown Chakra relates to a feeling of union and bliss.
If you look at each one of the above seven chakras you can see how they follow a path which is open to everyone. You may see them as a natural progression in a loving relationship in which both parties are committed to one another and their personal growth. However, as in most things in life, only your seeds of determination will dictate how much you reap.
I have seen chakra tests on the web which calculate which Chakra are strong in you and those that need development. You may wish to complete one of the questionnaires. It can be very surprising and enlightening of itself. Some people will have natural leanings to one or more chakra. This is not to say that you cannot make the balance up in others.
I have used the word ” shuffle ” in the title as I feel that the present level of evolution in each chakra is determined by which experiences you have had in your life like when you take a pack of cards and they are dealt to each player you do not know what kind of hand you are going to get.
I believe, as the word ” wheel ” suggests in their meaning, there is always a cyclical element to personal development and I believe also that nature is always pushing us on kindly and painfully on occasions to balance the strength of our chakras to reach our higher selves.
We would never dream of keeping the same hand in game of cards if we did not win or gain from it would we?
