Spiritual Existence
How to understand and re-awaken your spiritual self.
Discovering that you are a spiritual being, that death is non-existent, that your life is quite literally what you make of it, and that we are all here for a reason can be quite a pleasant experience, but also a daunting one. Here you will find the truths of spiritual existence and how you can better your understanding of the real world.
THE SPIRITUAL ENERGY
Most people shy away from the subject of spirituality, believing it to involve all sorts of demonic influences and such other things. Throughout the years many people who have made their spiritual beliefs known to others have lived to regret it, or died regretting it. So it is no wonder that this subject is only just coming to light, however, in this day and age of electronics, busy workloads and demanding social lives, not many people have the time to identify with the truth, let alone even consider the matter. The fact is we are all spiritual beings, each a spirit in a physical body, living out our lives on this planet until the physical body wears out. Then we progress to another phase of our existence.
We are all made up of energy, and energy cannot be destroyed. It simply changes into something else. For example, think about what happens when water is boiled.
The particles in the liquid spread out as they are heated. This then evaporates into steam. When the natural state of the liquid is threatened, it changes and something else is produced from it. When considering this truth, it becomes appropriate for us to ask if this is what happens when the physical body dies. When asking such a question we should look towards considering whether the spirit of a person can exist without a physical component.
ASTRAL PROJECTION (O.B.E. – Out-of-Body Experience)
Astral projection is the term given when you project yourself consciously, as a being. When doing this you create a double of your physical self, and then project it into an image on the ethereal plain. This is not to be confused with astral travelling, which is the process that occurs in the dreaming state. Cases have been recorded that tell of people who, at the point of death, have “stepped” outside of themselves and looked upon their body. This occurrence has also been known to happen at times of emotional stress. We, as animals, have built-in life-sustaining instincts that create powerful defense mechanisms that the subconscious mind responds to, and so prevents any experience that endangers our mind set.
How to astral project
The best time to practice astral projection is at night, when you are unlikely to be disturbed. Sit down on a straight backed chair, or cross legged on the floor, and take three deep breaths. Centre yourself with each breath.
Visualize yourself standing straight in front of where you are sat. Observe all the details of your body, the height, the stance, the hair, see yourself with new eyes.
Next, project your conscious mind into this body, and know that your physical form is actually sat behind you, observing you. From your new position look around yourself. Walk around the room, observe everything: open cupboards, look at pictures, inside boxes, and tell yourself what you are seeing. When you have finished, position yourself in front of your physical body, and mentally project yourself back into it, knowing that you are back in your body. Then watch the ethereal projection of yourself disappear.
Repeat this exercise nightly until you are familiar with your surroundings. When you feel comfortable with this, project yourself in same way, but then walk outside of the room and around the house. If there is anyone else in the house, see if you can pick up on what they are thinking, feeling, etc. However, try not to make them aware of your presence. Continue this until you become familiar with the process.
You can then step outside the house, walk down the street, remembering to observe everything. Now you will be able to expand yourself. Stretch out your arms and jump, you will notice that you have become weightless and are able to fly. Also try thinking yourself to a specific place. Imagine anywhere in the world you want to go, then simply see yourself there.
You must remember to follow the correct procedure when finishing your astral journey. If disturbance or lack of concentration occurs it is likely that you will experience dizziness, tiredness, and/or headaches for a while, even for days afterwards.
However, do not let this put you off, it can be a very useful tool once mastered. Imagine being woken up at 3am by a dog barking for no obvious reason, and you are able to astrally project yourself to that dog, and quieten the poor thing down, without having to move an inch! Quite impressive eh?
REINCARNATION
It is believed by many that our Higher Selves, or souls, pick out the destiny of our lives before birth. Our Higher Selves choose the experiences that we will go through, and meet up with other souls to decide if they will be a part of each others lives. The standard of life we live is dependant on how we coped in the last life. After death, the soul is judged, either by God, or itself, and so is given experiences in this life that represent those judgements. It is also said that we can measure the age of our souls by looking at the level of difficulty we have gone through in this life. The older a soul becomes the more difficult each life is, and so the more decisions have to be made, therefore, more lessons are learnt.
Birth, death and rebirth. It is a subject that is believed by people all over the world, of many different faiths. How do you explain walking into a room and recognising someone that you have not met before? The knowing that you have both met in another time and place.
CHILDISH PLEASURES?
As children we are susceptible to many a spiritual thing, as our minds have not yet been contaminated by earthly pleasures. Many of us had invisible friends, we heard or saw things that seemed a little bit different to everything else. We must learn to encourage our children, and praise them when they tell us of a visit from a deceased relative, not get angry with them, and dismiss their words, or their gift will fade away and the child’s beliefs that it is only their imagination will take over their conscious mind.
Allow your children to come to you and tell you about their friends that you cannot see. Let yourself trust in their psychic abilities, and as you become accustomed to this, you may find that you are awakening your own abilities.
As we grow up, we cannot help but begin to see the world in a money oriented, materialistic manner, and so it is believed that our conscious minds become flooded with thoughts of the latest technology or fashion statements, that this overrides our subconscious causing us to incidentally forget ourselves and why we are here.
IS THIS REAL?
In the teachings of Christian Science it is stated that only the spirit of a person is what is real. The Spirit knows no pain, no defeat, no hatred, and no death. It is only the physical body that experiences these things. When we cut a finger, the pain is trapped in the confines of the physical body, we do not feel it in our souls. When this is truly understood, one wonders where to draw the line. If the pain in a cut finger does not really exist, then what does? Disease must exist if it can cause the body to die, right? Wrong. There is no death. As described above, just because the body dies, it does not mean the soul does.
When given pills by a doctor to alleviate pain or kill an infection, followers of Christian Science believe that the only reason it works is because we trust a doctor’s intelligence and believe that it can help. Our brain then tricks the body into getting better. If we were to cut out the middle man and program our conscious minds into understanding and knowing that disease is not real, we can extinguish it from our lives. (Do not put yourself or another’s life in danger by refusing to take the advice of a doctor.)
Through belief, prayer and positive thinking we can change just about anything we desire. This includes inanimate objects. Because everything is made up of the same kind of materials, our spiritual selves and that of our God; our physical body, to other animals and objects, we can therefore have an affect upon everything. If the computer crashes while you are trying to work, meditate for a while, then psychically fix it. Christian Science teaches its followers a statement to focus on and repeat continually until the mind releases all trappings of the material world, and embraces the spiritual truth.
THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT
In psychology, it is known that we all create our own reality to some extent. We sometimes hear things that we want to hear, see things that we want to see, and dismiss the things that we do not like. Most of us live out our lives in accordance to what we believe is better for us, sometimes without even realising it. Our emotions tend to get in the way of viewing the world as it really is.
Even though our souls chose our life plan, our free will can create what we want in our lives. We can decide what kind of elements will be present in our lives and demand better experiences for ourselves and each other.
The law of attraction, or the law of cause and effect as it is also known, simply states that what we think and feel can and will manifest itself into our lives, and the lives of others. For instance, if we think ill health and bad luck, we invite this negativity to manifest itself in our daily life. By thinking positive thoughts, such as good health and happiness, this will become apparent to our lives.
Your present position in life is a manifestation of the dominant interests in your subconscious. This interest is controlled by your thoughts and emotions. The occasional conscious thoughts do not determine your life experiences, it is only the main dominant interest, the thought form that is constant in your consciousness, which is passed down to your subconscious mind.
Changing your life
If you are not satisfied with who you are and where you are in life, than change the way you think and you will change the dominant interest. It may take some time, but it is well worth the effort. Think positive thoughts about yourself, your life, and experiences, as well as your hopes and dreams for the future. Daily affirmations are particularly good for this, as they can connect almost immediately with your subconscious mind. By saying “I love myself” a couple of times a day, even if you are feeling at your worst, this will create a positive impression in your psyche.
There are instances in people’s lives when their dominant interest changes almost immediately, possibly following an ultimatum. For instance, an alcoholic is told by a loved one “It’s the drink or me”. This message is sent straight to the subconscious in a moment of extreme emotional sensitivity. Recovering from alcoholism becomes the dominant force in this person’s subconscious.
The law of attraction is simple:
- Think health – you attract health.
- Think disease – you attract disease.
- Think happiness – you attract happiness.
. We can easily connect to our Higher Selves once again by quietening the mind and practising daily meditation techniques. By doing so our thoughts become more concerned with spirituality, and less concerned with materialistic values. We can listen to our inner guide and take the necessary steps to securing our path of spiritual enlightenment.
