The Guided Journey
A commentary on the existence of spirit guides, with compelling true accounts of spiritual intervention.
Whether or not you practice religion, and no matter what that religion may be, there is no doubt that at some point in you’re life you’ve experienced something of a “premonition.”For example you deviate from your normal route to work for no apparent reason and later find out a fatal accident occurred in a place you most likely would have been. Perhaps you’ve lived the old cliché of being “in the right place at the right time.” If you ponder the idea for a while, chances are you will recall multiple experiences of this nature. While some may brush it off as luck or intuition, I very confidently say it is spiritual guidance.
To touch briefly on spirituality, we know we have a conscious and a subconscious. This is been scientifically proven. Our subconscious is also our deepest connection to spirituality since we reach to that part of our mind in our sleep, to our souls if you will, to draw on guidance that walks with us day in and day out. Most of us will never know the identity of our spirit guides, or “guardian angels” in our lifetime. But they undoubtedly know us and we will know them again someday. A handful of very blessed people have “met” their spirit guides, or heard their message in one form or another. One of these fortunate people happens to be my husband, Rob.
About three years ago, we found an abnormality on our dog’s leg after he had stumbled in the yard playing ball. We thought he had sprained his leg or otherwise injured it so we wrapped it and tried to keep him off it as much as possible. This beautiful animal, Cody – a rare Doberman and Blue Tick Hound mix, was the most loyal, defensive yet gentle creature I have ever encountered. His massive size was intimidating to most as he was protective of his family, especially my then 4 year old daughter, but his pure heart and loving spirit radiated from him. When his injury seemed to worsen, we took him to the veterinarian. They took X-rays and did some lab work, wrapped it up and sent us home with pain medication for Cody. A morning or two after that, my husband awoke looking very troubled but unnaturally calm. He told me he had a dream but felt awake the entire time. In the dream, a man with short, curly hair, bright blue eyes and a white coat accompanied us to the vet’s office. Once inside, the man said only a few words and then left the room. I anxiously asked what the man in his dream had said. Rob said, “He just matter-of-factly said, “it’s cancer”.” Sadly, the unknown messenger was right. The vet called us in the office the next day and confirmed that Cody had rapidly growing bone cancer. My husband took it hard, as I did, but had been as comforted by the warning as he could possibly be. I had done some reading about spirit guides but kept it to myself at that time, simply stating that the man in his dream must have been sent to prepare him. I also noted, as I had read, that guides will appear during hard times to remind us we aren’t alone. In this case I was certain that the man wanted Rob to know that he had someone to help him through the long months ahead, up and through Cody’s last breath.
