The Guided Journey

A commentary on the existence of spirit guides, with compelling true accounts of spiritual intervention.

It is not unreasonable to ask why a person would need a spirit guide. Catholics may surmise that a “spirit being” is unheard of, as they believe almost exclusively in the Holy Trinity. Baptists may argue that Jesus is all they need. I was raised Catholic and I do believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I am not discrediting them in any way. My theory is, in looking at the whole picture, that God is so unfathomably intelligent that he put a safeguard in place to help all of His children through the journey of life. If you follow the logic of parenting, it makes sense. We all were raised by someone, most of us by our own parents. Regardless of who brought us up, there is no doubt that they relied on others such as teachers, babysitters and even siblings to assist from time to time. The only difference is God or Jesus can be there in tandem with our guide at all times. However he can also entrust our spirit guides to lend a hand or lead us wherever we are destined to go. In a sense, God is the ultimate parent. He watches over us with the help of guardians and angels and probably many more entities we’ve never heard of. Together, they work to help us and teach us lessons throughout our lives, eventually bringing us back with them to our eternal Home.

All through religious history, spirit guides have been noted; particularly by Native Americans, in ancient Chinese culture and even in Irish Catholicism. Many doctrines have been written that back up these notations. Hundreds of experiences are documented, some very subtly, in religious texts and articles. Certainly, there will not be proof positive in this lifetime for everyone. I believe we will all know the truth once we join our spirit guides in our Ultimate home. Until then we can seek the guidance available to us and pray or ask for recognition of our guardian’s advice. Requesting connection in your dreams, where our subconscious is most accessible is one way to capture a glimpse of advice or perhaps even spirit guides themselves. Try talking to your guide while relaxed and listen for a response. It may be presented as a subtle thought but there will be something. Listen to your heart, instinct and logic-after all these are the inlets for spiritual guidance. Keep in mind that spirit guides aren’t a magic tool. Their purpose is to keep us on the path we have chosen to walk in life. Some of those times may be difficult but these are the most essential advancements of spiritual growth. At these times, are spirit guides as well as angels and our “Ultimate Parent” are there to see us through them.
