Trying to Learn to Meditate
Learning to meditate is something that you have to dedicate time to; it is not very easy especially if there is a lot going on in your life. Over time as you learn to meditate, you will look forward to the escape.

Learning how to meditate is not very easy especially with so much stimuli going on around us. Our mind is like a computer constantly thinking and processing information; so trying to tone your mind down, may require a lot of time and patience.
Finding a quiet place where you can concentrate and focus, it the first step in attempting to meditate.
Usually your next step is to find something to focus on, once you find a color, the sound of your heart beating, or even just looking one particular photo. Now within the quietness of your space truly concentrate on your photo, still your mind; and block out everything else around you.
To totally learn to block out everything, and stay focused on one thing takes time so do not get discouraged if at first you don’t succeed. It takes time and a lot of patience.
For many who find the beginning stages of meditation difficult, trying humming, which will help you, bring the ability to focus and concentrate. After you have been able to stay focused for a short period of time, let say five minutes. You have now learned to bring everything you need to move on, but of course not too quickly.
After you have managed to keep the mind completely at peace without a thought going through you head, it is time to move to the next level.

At the next level, you still focus, concentrate and even hum if you must, but now your going to draw you body into complete relaxation; it is usually best to start from the top of your head and work down to the bottom of your feet. You want to relax your neck and shoulder that is where most of our stress is, down through the tip of your fingers, through our torso, and onward down. The key now is to stay at this level for a short period of time, and build it up over time.
Your relaxed, you mind is free from any thoughts, as your body is able to regenerate and heal itself, which is the true purpose of meditation. Over time you may want to include soft music, something with a consistent rhythm; you do not want anything that will disrupt your ability to focus or concentration.
Over time as your able to retreat to different levels of meditation, you may want to include close friends. Meditation with friends draws a larger amount of energy, which if there is physical contact will help you to totally recharge yourself purely through meditation.

Very good advice, I agree totally. I concentrate on my breathing and now I go completely into deep relaxation. It does take practice to get to this point. To begin with I pictured a white rose on black velvet but I don’t need that step anymore. When you learn to go into deep relaxation you can drop this step. It is healthy for your body and mind to meditate.
