Graffiti Artists Booked Face Possible Jail Time?
by Do you think graffiti artists should be facing jail time for vandalism?
I recently read that in some states, mostly in major cities, town officials and federal officers are pushing about 6 months of jail time if a vandal is caught spray painting. apparently the graffiti got so heavy in some places, they feel that the only way to stop these people is by sending them to prison? Where I’m from in Canada, if you are caught spray painting and vandalizing, your officially banned from any possession of spray paint for 6 months. this has never happened to me but a friend of mine was booked and that’s what happened to him. which do you think seems more fair? think of it like this, if a hockey players stick is stolen.. what does he do? is he just gonna stop playing hockey forever? or.. most likely buy a new one? art is art, vandalism is vandalism, it all depends on who your asking. like in my other article, “Is Graffiti ART or Vandalism?” [ http://tinyurl.com/3pewcvw ]
share your thoughts, is jail time appropriate? or does Canada do it better? xD
do you really think 6 months in jail will stop a graffiti artist? if so explain, if not, why not?
