Groupies?

The odd world of groupies.

Groupies. What a topic. I don’t think I quite understand the whole concept of being a groupie. Yes, fans that can appreciate an artist, actor, athlete or professional of all sorts is understandable. There are many people who I admire and respect for the things they have brought to us, but being a groupie is a whole other thing.

Where to begin…..well the whole topic is pretty large. We have groupies that are obsessed with a particular actress or actor and try their hardest to meet them. Then we have women in videos who could care less who the artist is and just try to sleep with whomever they can to get ahead in their “career” or get some money out of it. Then of course there are those women who follow around professional athletes trying to either get noticed or sleep with them.

Now I generally don’t talk about things I don’t know about. So for this I will use two examples that I personally know about. They are both in the professional sports world and one is the point of view from a woman trying to get with a basketball player. The other is from a professional athlete himself who tells me about how it is to leave a locker room after the game.

Briefly put, I know someone who happens to follow around different professional basketball players in hopes of getting with one of them. She has managed to date a few here and there. Some of them have been married, others single. Those that were married would pay for her to come out to the cities they travel to and spend the night with them. She is hoping one day to get pregnant and be able to live off of their child support money. Talk about morals!!

From the athletes point of view, well I know someone who plays professionally and from what he said, the women outside of the locker rooms are crazy. A lot of them dress up in what they feel is high class clothing and fake jewelery in hopes of catching one of the men’s eyes walking out. Really, how sad is it that women are that obsessed with trying to land someone with a lot of money. Whatever happened to the saying, money doesn’t buy you love?
