all of y’alls comments do NOT help the projects that people are working on so you might as well and not post them.
no one cares if you were there in that decade. i’m in high school and can find a way better better site to get slang words than this.

Darlene, I remember reading this so long ago – where is my comment? There’s lot of them here. It was very entertaining. When I think of hippies I think of the show “Mod Squad”. I was too young to experience this.

What’s also really groovy is that we have a retro-fashions shop
here in Hamilton, Montana, and they have plenty great stuff
(especially some colorful psychedelic paisley scarves)
that’s totally far-out.
Among other things, this is a totally groovy site.
If there’s any way for me to post some of my trippy artwork
in here, that would be far-out.
It might drive the squares nuts, but who cares?
We do our own thing, and this site is definitely
the biggest happening since the Be-In’s, Love-In’s,
the Monterey Pop Festival, and Woodstock.
Let’s bring back the glory days of the hippie Be-In’s.
Turn-Off the old square Rush Limbaugh and
Tune-In to the totally hip Jimi Hendrix,
and re-live the “Purple Haze” experience.

The music of the 60’s is totally groovy.
I dig the gassy tunes of The Jefferson Airplane,
The Electric Prunes, The Blues Magoos,
The Cowsills, The Who, The Beatles, Friend & Lover,
The Buffalo Springfield, Donovan, and much more.
So “Reach Out In The Darkness”, ’cause
“All You Need Is Love.
And the trippy psychedelic art is the happening.
I may be 50, but I dig the wild fashions, art, and music.
And even today, I design some of my own music posters
in 60’s psychedelic style, sport my long, mop-top hair,
and some wild, colorful fashions, and perform covers of
The Seeds, The Buffalo Springfield, Donovan, THe ByRDS,
The Youngbloods, just to name a few,
at local gigs and other music events.
It’s soooooooooooooo groovy, baby.
And when the squares try to get in the way,
we’ll just do what we do naturally…

Great article and yes, I too needed to research hippy slang for a school paper that I am writing about Jimi Hendrix, who might I add was absolutley awsome, or opps, Groovy; I mean groovey LOL.. Anyways, I was born in 1978, so wasn\’t even thought of in the 60\’s. But I wish with all my heart that I was in my thirties then (in the 60\’s) and finishing my life now. I work in the administrative department of a nursing home in Overland Park, Kansas, and I always do my best to make a little time to get to know our residents. Something I always tell them is how very lucky they are to have been in the prime of their lives when they were. I try to tell them how bad I think things are in our country today and how I wish with all of my heart that I was around in the 40\’s – 50\’s and 60\’s like they were. From what I read about and can understand, life looked like it was just easier then. I mean people were more laid back all together and not everybody was in one big rush to get somewhere or be somewhere like they are today. As far as I am concerned the technology age has ruined this country and done nothing but cause good american people to loose jobs and make everyone in this era very impatient and very rude. Oh well, I guess this is the time god meant for me to be on this earth, so as I always have, I will make the best of it and continue to strive for a better life for myself and my family. Thanks again for the great article and any square who has anything bad to say about hippies. Get off of the webpage. LOL
