Kids: What Will They Think of Next

A young boy in Huntsville Alabama came up with the most interesting excuse for not bringing home his report card I have ever heard!

While many schools across the nation have just started school a couple of weeks ago, Madison county in Alabama students have been hitting the books for a while. Having the longest school term in the nation means one thing. Students are already getting their first report cards.

For one young boy int the Huntsville area, this meant he was going to be in big trouble at home. Not wanted to face parental displeasure over his low report card grades, this child got really inventive to avoid his parents looking over his grades.

On the way home from school, he ditched his book bag and then notified the police that a man in a beat up car had tried to kidnap him. He stated he escaped by crawling through a car window and running away. Strangely enough, though the child reported having to flea without his book bag he still was carrying his band instrument.

Later he admitted to his grandfather that he lied to cover the fact he had gotten bad grades. The father called the police department to apologize and learned that the police were all ready suspicious of the boys story. At this time the department does not plan to take any actions against the eleven year old.

As for the parents of this child, I hope they make it clear to the child that filing a false police report is an illegal act. That doing so, takes policemen who are needed to protect other children and adults from real criminals from protecting those who really need protection.

They should also press home to their son, how it is sometimes a false accusations that lead to the arrests of innocent people and can cause all kinds of unforeseeable damage to that person ans his family.

That being said, they should also keep in mind that their son may have a great future in the area of writing crime fiction, and perhaps encourage their budding little author. Making sure of course he keeps his fictional stories on paper where they belong.

Perhaps, they could even use the potential of this possible writer career to encourage the child to do better in school, thus raising his grades so he does not have to be ashamed or embarrassed over poor grades again.

I suppose if that doesn’t work, there are other options available to this child come report card time again. Who knows in the near future, we might hear about an eleven year old child who was abducted by aliens and his book bag kept as a specimen of earthling intelligence.

What great initiative that child had. Maybe it was wrongly channelled this time but who knows what he could be in the future. A good story.

Yes, I heard this one on the news. I could not believe a child would do that, my kids sometimes came up with good stories but nothing like this. I am so happy my children are adults.

Hmm, sometimes the pressure comes from the parents; they, always wanting their children to have high grades and they, always scolding their children if they get low grades. My teacher in PE (we were having stress management) said that these pressures are necessary, what we must keep in mind is to not expect too much.
