Naturism
Many people follow the naturists way of life and this has been happening since the dawn of time, but is it now just a way of getting your kit off in public?
Is it just a load of people wanting to get their kit off? Or is there more to it than that?

The word naturism was first used as a word to promote hygiene, health and a natural style of life in 1778.
A man named Charles Edward Crawford, a district and sessions Judge for the Bombay Civil Service at Thana in 1891 started a naturist club in British India with only two members, the brothers who were the Sons of a missionary.
Reading through history it seems clubs were set up, and people wanted to venture into naturism/nudism. By 1921 the public’s interest into naturism was slow after the war but by 1922 a club for nude life culture was set up. The members were mostly men but by 1924 The Sunlight League which was founded by Dr. Saleeby who had been publishing in The New States man about the benefits of sunlight on the skin.
Many people thought and still believe it’s good for the health and wellbeing of the body. The concept of returning to nature and creating equality was a spiritual experience. The media and the public have often just though it was an excuse for eroticism and while some people may have enjoyed that the naturists and naturist organisations argue that it is not true.
Although when we think of nudism, we only think of the nudist or clothes free beaches it is a lot more complex than that. Many people choose to go naked in their home or in their own garden or with their family but nudism even involves being naked in bed when you sleep, although this is argued that it is much better for you health wise to sleep naked, you relax more and there for sleep better.
Social nudism is being naked in a social setting, at home with friends, at a club or beach. To some naturists its not the real deal unless you really do go back to nature and go nude in the wild.
The special beaches, holiday centres, naturist resorts and free body culture movements are all over the world and it a human choice whether to participate or not. The nudists enjoy all the benefits clothed people get, who knows maybe even more benefits! They get to participate in naked horse riding maybe one the men for go), skinny dipping, snorkelling, nude kayaking, nude hiking and many, many more activities.
Sounds to me like a very relaxed, free activity, you wouldn’t have to worry about what clothes to put on and you wouldn’t have to carry around cash! Its just a shame I am so body conscious.

Lot of beaches and gated communities in Florida that are clothing-optional. The beaches are clearly identified so no one is unduly shocked. Interesting read.

Another point to ponder here. It would be a better world for naturists if we exterminate the paparazzi. With no offense to Ken because he is a retired newscaster/reporter.Or there better be a “for your eyes only zone” and invite ex James Bond leading lady Carole Bouquet to join the melee. Thanks for sharing, Lisa.

I’m like you Lillyrose. There is no way I would do it but if others want to it is up to them, as long as it is done away from prying eyes. A good article.

this article reminds me when i lived in Germany for a couple of years. The europeans have a different mindset when it comes to nudity and sex….so it is not uncommon to see people of all sizes flapping around…..

An interesting and informative article. I don’t think I would be confident enough to do it!

As soon as I saw the title, I knew this had to be one of yours our Lilly!! I think it’s a great concept in theory, but we all have so much pressure to look good these days that we are mostly far too self-conscious to get involved! My six-pack is now a small barrel. Sure, I could do 100 sit-ups a day for the next 2 months and get rid of it, but I just can’t be arsed!!

Great article…I often wander around my house au naturel and even suggested to my wife that I could do the same in my front yard since it is my “private” property, even though it is open to general public viewing…the only problem is that I would hate to scare all the neighbours away!!! A lot of nude beaches are the subject of curiousity seekers…but “true” sun worshippers practice nudity as a way of life…not just now and then. Thanks for great read.
