The Silent Generation

In society today, we are silent.
Not as in we don’t talk, or don’t make noise. Rather, we make much more noise than in (almost) any other time in history. So what do I mean “we are silent”?
I mean that we don’t have a tolerance for words. If someone says, “I like strawberries”, then a portion of the room will think that person is gay. Way back when, people could put words like ‘gay’ in the newspaper, and not mean homosexual. Seriously! Later, I’m going to give you a Kenshi-gram of how I think these words are decided. I don’t even know what ‘being in the closet’ means, but I can easily assume that it means that you are gay or something.
The dictionary definition for ‘gay’ is: adj. joyous or lively; merry 2. bright; brilliant [gay colors] 3. [slang] homosexual.
Unless you are somewhat well-educated, or read a lot, or are an English major, you probably won’t use ‘gay’ in the context of being happy. My Kenshi-gram will explain.
So, in this scene, we see two drunk dudes stumbling along hugging (let’s hope they are just hugging). An educated person comes along, sees them, and says that they look gay (in the ‘happy context’). Then an uneducated person (once again, not offending anyone if you don’t know what the word ‘gay’ means) overhears the man say ‘they look gay’ and then concludes that…

If guy+guy=homosexual, and guy+guy=gay, and guy+guy=guy+guy, then gay=homosexual! OMG I’m smart!
So, the overhearing person (sorry for offending any of you, if you want to leave a mild comment to make you feel better, please do. It is not my wish to harm anyone, but I do want my point to get across.) used bad logic to come up with a new slang term, which was used so often, it became a dictionary definition.
So… what happened to “The Silent Generation” we were talking about? Well, my point is, because today’s society is very full of misunderstanding, words like ‘gay’, which meant happy, now mean something totally different. It is a very weird world, and it is hard to know what to say.
Then again, it is hard to stay silent.

Our generation is so annoying, not only gay, but also a word like queer, which used to just mean unusually, now it also has to mean homosexual, its so stupid!!!

Well, the more I think about it, I believe that Gay was used as slang as early as the 70s, so our generation wasn’t really the one that created it, but we are the ones who have grossly overutilized it.
