The Fathers of Dubstep Music

In every genre there are always those who were responsible for either its success or demise. If you truly want to understand the origins of the genre you have to go back to who the founding fathers were. We all know that Dub step originated from England but what we might not know is; who were the people who made Dub step become DUBSTEP?

In every genre there are always those who were responsible for either its success or demise. If you truly want to understand the origins of the genre you have to go back to who the founding fathers were. We all know that Dub step originated from England but what we might not know is; who were the people who made Dub step become DUBSTEP?

Wobble:  The person responsible for bringing the Wobble bass to dub step is EI-B. Originally more into Hip Hop and garage it was only natural that he would eventually transpose into the genre of Dub step. If it wasn’t for him-we’d probably not wobble.

Zed Bias: Just as everyone was prepping for the end of the world; the infamous Y2K, this bad boy was working on creating the first ever Dub step tracks in 2000. Maybe the world didn’t come to an end at the turning of the century, but the world certainly did change a great deal. Zed Bias was able to take the confusion and chaos of the world and translate it into a genre known as Dub step.

Kode9:  This renegade DJ was responsible for taking the Dub step platform and making it known the world. Using his radio station Rinse FM he was able to produce one of the best and most profitable Dub step albums up to date.

Scream: If you have ever heard of being in the right place at the right time-this bad boy found himself sitting in the middle of the movement before it even lifted off the ground. This on hands experience gave him the insight to know that the world is heading towards the dark morphing sounds of Dub step which allowed him to bank on it. These days the name of Scream is very well known all over the world.

Bengal:  This super DJ also worked close with Scream and was one of the reasons why Dub step became mainstream. His videos have over a million hits and still keep on turning heads. Arguably one of the most prominent Dub step DJ’s out there.

Mary Anne Hobbs:  She is the first woman DJ to break into the genre and partly it was her fault the genre became this big. All of a sudden all sexes were included in the mystic arts of creating Dub step. She also allowed the genre to grow by using BBC radio and her show -Dub step Wars-.

What they all have in common:  Being a pioneer in the world isn’t the easiest thing to do. There are a lot of elements at play and some of which are completely out of your hands. It is almost as if the cosmos conspired together in order to have these people to be at the right place, the right time. Obviously also you need to have a deep understanding of Dub step and the best dub step programs in order to be able to create tracks that transcends time and space. By knowing where the genre came from and who were responsible for its success, we can learn how learn to make dub step beats and use this originality and inspiration within our own tracks. It is always good to understand in depth what you are -in- to in order to take your own production value to the next level.
