The Nokia N900 Complete Guide Part Two
The Nokia N900 Complete Guide Part two.
Here is part 2 of the Nokia n900 complete guide. This part of the guide covers on how to improve your n900 speed and how to increase battery life. Community SSU(semless software update) is also explained.
If your n900 is slow, or some parts of the n900 does not work fast and smooth, then download the speed patch. To do these follow the steps shown below:
Step 1) Ensure all above application catalogues are enabled(and internet access available).
Step 2) Then go to the app manager and say ‘download’.
Step 3) Select the All option
Step 4) Then type speedpatch using your keyboard.
Step 5) Then select the only choice possible
Step 6) Done!!
Another way to do this is to go to the X terminal and typing the terminal(told you may have to use the X terminal)- First, all catalogues need to be enabled, and internet access available.
sudo gainroot
apt-get install speedpatch
Now that you have speedpatch, you may want to upgrade to CSSU (Community Seamless Software Update) as more software updates are available. As n900 updates by Nokia is so slow, the n900 users have taken it on themself to update n900. In order to do this, I am posting a link to a video as everyone understands better on seeing than reading. This will also help you increase your speed and battery life considerably. Link: Click Here. One of the problems of the n900 is the battery drain. Many a times I find on getting up that my phone shut down due to battery loss unless I charge it every other day. Thus I found on the net something to fix this small problem for me. Another patch called batterypatch was available for us n900 users. Follow the steps given below:
Step 1) Ensure all above application catalogues are enabled (and internet access available).
Step 2) Then go to the app manager and say ‘download’.
Step 3) Select the All option
Step 4) Then type batterypatch (if kernel power is enabled) and batterypatch-non-kp(if not enabled) using your keyboard.
Step 5) Then select the only choice possible
Step 6) Done!!
Another way to do this is to go to the X terminal and typing the terminal (told you may have to use the X terminal)- First, all catalogues need to be enabled, and internet access available.
If kernel power enabled (will show how later on in the guide)
sudo gainroot
apt-get install batterypatch
If kernel power is not enabled – It is not enbled by default
sudo gainroot
apt-get install batterypatch-non-kp
Both these will show a considerable and noticeable change
Part 3 will soon come, showing how to install kernel power, and then the much better batterypatch will be allowed to be used.
