Unicef: From One Flame Came

UNICEF was founded in 1946 to help youngsters who were victims of World War II. During the winter of 1946-47, when one of every two babies in some parts of Europe died before its first birthday, the agency supplied incubators, penicillin and tons of cotton cloth for blankets and clothing. It seemed that by 1950 the work of UNICEF was done. But the developing nations pleaded that thousands of children throughout the Third World were dying daily from malnutrition and disease. After an intensive debate, it was agreed that UNICEF would redirect itself toward children in the developing countries.

Between 1950 and 1980, UNICEF began working on programs to promote material and child health services, disease control, improved nutrition, clean water, safe sanitation, low-cost housing and primary education. For its efforts, UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace 1965.

UNICEF1s progress, however, is being threatened by economic reasons, which has forced many countries to reduce educational and health services. UNICEF receives no automatic contributions from the United Nations or individual governments, so all the work has to be carried out on a very small budget.

Today UNICEF works in 119 of the world’s poorest countries. Assistance is given solely on he basis of need, regardless of politics, religion, race or colour.

Think Twice, About Einstein

Many times we listen from one of our parents: “Think twice before do something”, and usually it is usually in vain. Most people don’t think and rethink, they just do the things according to what seems most logical at first sight, but the true is that people should think really well in what they are going to do. One of the great examples that one should always think twice is Einstein.

In 1939 Einstein sent a letter to president Roosevelt saying that the results of his search recently done show that uranium, in the near future, can become a really good energy source. He said that it could be used to make extremely dangerous bombs. He said that because he was afraid that the Nazis could get that technology in first. But were the Americans who used that new technology to bomb Hiroshima, and Nagasaki. Since then he regretted having sent that letter, because that bomb massacred lots of Japanese innocent people.

After this happened Einstein wrote another letter showing his compassion for the victims of this atomic bomb. Then Einstein become a better person, because he learned with his errors. From 1946 until his death Einstein worked great for peace and he saw that nuclear weapons was the biggest threat of our times.

Ufos Over Portugal &Ndash; Part One (1946)

Like any other country in the world, Portugal has had its fair share of UFO sightings. History marks the beginning of the UFO phenomenon with the Kenneth Arnold sighting over Mount Rainier in June 1947, thus starting the first great UFO wave in the United States.

However, there had been a major wave of UFO reports a year before. It happened in the Scandinavian countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland. These sightings, nicknamed “ghost rockets”, soared only on Sweden to almost 1,000 reports between May and early December of 1946. According to the newspaper L’Aurore (France) of July 27:

“More than five-hundred rocket-propelled projectiles are said to have been seen over Sweden since the beginning of July. According to some sources, the projectiles that streak across the Swedish sky look like jet planes, but make less noise than usual aircraft. Others describe them as like “sea-gulls without heads”. On the map, the projectiles do not show uniform trajectories.”

With such a potentially explosive situation (hints of Russian missile tests were the talk of the day) the Swedish Defense Staff decided to implement an investigation of the problem. In the end the final report concluded:

“Despite the extensive effort which has been carried out with all available means, there is no actual proof that a test of rocket projectiles has taken place over Sweden… Even if the main parts of the reports can be referred to celestial phenomena the committee cannot dismiss certain facts as being purely imagination.”

So what was seen in the Northern Europe remained, until today, unidentified. Reports from other countries like France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, Greece and Portugal only compounded the mystery. Portugal contributed with nine reports of “ghost rockets”. Here are a few selected ones:

Diario de Noticias, September 15: At four P.M. today an enormous disc irradiating a green light was seen on the locality of Casa Branca, Montemor-o-Novo. The strange phenomenon was witnessed by many rail workers on duty. The disc stayed motionless for approximately five minutes, disappearing afterwards in a southerly direction.

From the newspaper Vitoria, September 17: According to information given by several credible witness, last night there has been seen in the sky of the city of Porto some mysterious rockets with fiery tails travelling with diabolical speeds.

The rockets came from near the sea in a south-north direction. Could it be the same phenomenon talked about in the foreign press? Surely, this night many will try to see if the phenomenon repeats itself.

Finally from the Diario de Noticias, September 18: Just after 21 P.M. a luminous body, bigger and brighter than a star and with a phosphorescent tail was seen in the sky of the city of Viana do Castelo. It was travelling in the south-north direction. The sighting due to its strangeness became the talk of the town, the current opinion being that it was one of the mysterious rockets much talked about in the press of the recent days.

Too Many Baby Boomers and Not Enough Retirement Funds

Are you a baby boomer? Are you ready to retire? Yes! Well, I don’t know about that, banks are closing, and you cannot even take a chance to bank on that. I believe that our government and the stock market brokers have known now for years what is about to happen. Let’s just look at the facts. There are 76 million baby boomer. Baby boomers are those born in the years 1946 to 1964. Listen, our government knows what will happen if all of these people start pulling their money out of the stock market. Is there any wonder that many people have lost half if not all of their money in the stock market recently? Is there any wonder that we are hearing more and more about National Health Care? The government cannot afford to allow 76 million people to take advantage of the health care system as it stands today.

And don’t mention the Social Security Trust Fund. Remember 76 million people tapping into the Social Security Trust Fund at least. What is left of it? Is it possible that our government has been preparing and planning behind the scene for this moment? Furthermore, what about the ? Does anyone believe the stock market can survive from 76 million people withdrawing their money? Is it possible that some of what we see going on in the stock market is manipulation of the market? Why, if there is a looming threat of 76 million people causing a stock market crash, yes I can see that.

I believe storms have been brewing for sometime now. I believe we have been feeling the rain and wind band of the storms. I believe we will be hit by a storm from the west, and we can call it the “storm of Liberalism.” I believe we will be hit by a storm from the north we can call it the “storm of government short falls.” I believe we will get hit by a storm from the east we can call it “the storm of higher import prices.” And last but not least, I believe we will be hit by a storm from the south we call hurricane. I believe we will be hit with more storms than normal that will also hurt the economy of the United States.

The more jobs that are lost, the less taxes the state and federal government will receive. That is just another reason for the storm from the north “the storm of government short falls.”

What would you do if you discovered that, not only is there no money left in the Social Security Trust Fund but also no pension fund?

Right now our government is bailing of the car manufactures as if we need more car on the road. They have cars they cannot sell just sitting on dealers lots. Nevertheless, the government of the United States thinks it is right to take the American people’s money to bail out the car manufactures.

What our government should have done is put the back in the Social Security Trust Funds?

Therefore, baby boomers need to wake up and smell the coffee or there may not be any coffee to smell at all.

What I am trying to say is, I believe that our government and other entities know that the baby boomers are a serious threat to the economy. Furthermore, I believe they are working to put stop gap measures in place at the expense of the baby boomers.

Listen, I could be wrong. However, what if I am right, and you get ready to retire and there is nothing there? It will then be too late. Also, yesterday the market rallied. However, many traders were also waiting to see how the market does next week; they’re aware of the fact that post-holiday volume was light and therefore Friday’s trading might not be the best indicator of the market reaction. Therefore, don’t get caught up with the hype, instead look at the facts. Now you baby boomers you, do you still think you are ready for retirement?
