Most people think of the sixties as a tumultuous, uncertain time in our history. It certainly was a decade of events that changed our lives forever, some good and some bad. We saw the civil rights movement and assassinations of our leaders, the Bay of Pigs, the moon landing, the advent of the birth control pill, the British Invasion and of the course, the Vietnam war. However as a child growing up then, I remember the fun.

"This countercultural revolution, founded and fueled by those who became known as the “hippies”, was of an unprecedented magnitude in its following. Its radical deviation from the “working towards the future” attitude of their parents’ generation to their own “living in the present” was shocking to mainstream America. Their culture spread over the next half a century influencing many facets of life in America." (Lots of pictures!)

An essay on Why we need community to survive and how culture has been showing us this for some time now.

I wrote this in English 111 a few years back. Its okay, as far as non fiction goes. (one of my first stabs at it) I wrote it about one of America’s most interesting figures. Hunter S. Thompson.

The Anti-War Movement is a very interesting piece of American history. In the 60s, many young people began to feel oppressed and unheard. The escalation of the war caused groups to become more and more radical and violent, and when they began to believe that problems were caused by capitalism and imperialism, they called for a revolution.

Brief, Informative Summary on the 1960’s.

From the time of our grandparents till now the world has undergone some serious changes. From listening to the family radio every evening to watching Plasma screen TV’s run by wireless remotes.

Life as I remember it.

The point of this article is to give a general view on the Freedom Rides for everyone and anyone who has a respect towards black history and integration. I’m hoping that this article makes it easy for those to understand whom wouldn’t otherwise if it were a text book full of confusing and hard to follow words.
