One of my friends just said, “I’ll take care of my family and you take care of yours, I won’t ask you to do my job, please don’t ask me to do yours. If you can’t take care of a family, please don’t have one.” On the surface, this is true. However, when your financial existence and stability is predicated on the greedy and underhanded actions of ruthless and unscrupulous people, the truth needs to be further examined. Let’s examine the whole truth. Let’s not ship jobs overseas so that cheap products can be sold to us that don’t have the same value and longevity as products made here. Our politicians and corporate executives have sold us out for their own gain. When our representatives and our biggest suppliers screw us, the argument presented above has a completely different tone. People who have families and mortgages have lost their homes believing in the American dream that was sold out to profit and the bottom line. Ruthless and greedy people with a ‘me’ agenda. We can best serve others by educating people to seek balance and order instead of manipulation to satisfy their greed. It’s not just about America and the people here; it’s about ALL of us. We should live within our means and our means are determined by our social and economic progress. What Is Evil?

What is evil? It is something morally wrong or bad, wicked or characterized by the expression of evil deeds. It is described as something that is harmful or injurious usually accompanied by states of misfortune or suffering. It is a state believed to occur outside of oneself from ‘other’ forces that create misfortune and disastrous conditions. It is due to the actual or imputed bad conduct or character of a person marked by anger, irritability, irascibility, ultimately affecting a person’s disposition [dictionary.com]. Is it a belief or a state? It is a state that results from the belief in its condition. There are many people that can be described as psychopathic, sociopathic or just downright evil. But how did they get this way? Their behavior is a result of what they observe in their world and what they believe they have to do to live within in it. It is based on an attitude of fear that their ego experiences. They have to control, dominate and manipulate everything in their environment to affect selfish changes based on greed and an attitude and perception of lack and limitation. Evil is a result of a complete attitude of separation from all of creation. It is more concerned with ‘me’ than with ‘us’. Pray for those who are lost in this state but don’t allow them to affect your state. Put them in their place by standing firm on who you are, how you need to be treated and what they need to do in order to exist in peace with you. If they reject what you demand, then remove yourself from their egotistically perceived sphere of influence. If they come after you, allow their anger and desire to hurt you pass through you without their attitude of ‘evil’ to affect you. This will discharge their negative energy and their perceived control over you and create a state of grace and peace within you that protects you with a shield of love. Evil cannot exist in the light of love. It ALWAYS seeks the darkness because that is where it can deceive and confuse the seekers of truth. Remove yourself from evil’s projection by accepting the grace of God to create the peace within you to live in an ongoing state of love, honor and respect. It is your choice to allow evil to exist in your life or squelch its perceived power over you. Trust God to guide you to a state of realization where evil no longer has any hold over you. ~Dean A. Vivien Thomas was a person who was a skilled craftsman. He was recognized as such but was let go at his job. He took on a job at a medical research facility in Nashville, TN tending the dogs that were used in the experiments. He applied his skills as a carpenter to help the doctor with surgeries on the dogs. His hands were steady and his mind was focused. The doctor recognized his skill as a perfectionist. This is where Vivien learned how to feel his way through the body during surgery. He would often close his eyes so he could feel better. Later on, this technique would astound other surgeons.

After Vivien lost his life savings in the bank crash in 1930, he paralleled his own career along with Doctor Blalock’s career. He accompanied Dr. Blalock to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He was classified as a “Lab Technician” but was only paid the same rate as the janitors. His anger brewed as he saw his research and discoveries being recognized as the work of Dr. Blalock. He channeled his anger inward and used it to become more determined to create the tools that would be needed to help in the surgeries of blue babies. At one point, Vivien left Dr. Blalock because he accepted full credit for the discoveries, acknowledging the “white” doctors without giving any credit to Vivien. Vivien then hawked antacids for a while until he realized that it was more important for him to complete the work he started with Dr. Blalock than to succumb to his desire for recognition and equal pay. He made the goal of helping others more important than his goals.

Vivien chose to “press on”, even though the prejudice against him seemed insurmountable. During the first surgery on a blue baby, Dr. Blalock stopped the surgery and sent for Vivien to help guide him through the procedure. Another doctor told Vivien to “attend to his duties” and Dr. Blalock told the other doctor that he was “attending to his duties.” The pompous, arrogant and prejudicial attitude of others didn’t stop Vivien from performing his duties. He assisted and trained Dr. Blalock and other surgeons and he never attended medical school. He had talent, genius and educated himself. All of that wasn’t enough to elevate his social status. Vivien was eventually recognized for his work after Dr. Blalock died. He was given an honorary doctorate from Johns Hopkins and his likeness now hangs in the entrance hall next to Dr. Blalock’s. His dogged determination is why. I suggest your rent the movie “Something the Lord Made.” It’s very inspirational.

Vivien faced prejudice, rejection and the negative attitudes of those less talented than him and channeled his emotions toward the ultimate goal of saving lives. He was determined to be the best he could be amidst his rise from a carpenter in the old south to a surgeon that pioneered a procedure that saved the lives of many children. That is dogged determination. It is the spirit of God within each one of us that knows the gifts and blessings that God has given us and refuses to let others tell us what we can or cannot do with our lives. Listen to that spirit. It is your guide to the life of your dreams.

When two people are so satisfied with the love in their relationship and they decide they want to keep that love in their lives they opt for that commitment to sharing exclusively with each other. There is an emotional exchange that feeds both people and makes them feel fulfilled.

However, the legal version is somewhat different. They are now looked at by the state as one. They share property and finances are each held liable for one another. There are many ancillary functions of marriage that need to be addressed by both parties before they decide to make such a commitment.

Marriage, according to definition, is the legal or religious ceremony that formalizes the decision of two people to live as a married couple. There is nothing ever stated that it is a sanctity between a man and a woman EXCEPT in ‘religious’ practice. And since when is the religious practice of one of our many religions binding on EVERYONE?

According to the Bible, marriage was instituted in Paradise when ‘man was in innocence’. Monogamy was the original law of marriage. In the patriarchal age, polygamy and concubinage became prevalent. Men were the masters of the marriage and women and children were chattel owned by the man. The man in the family made the choices for his sons and daughters in whom they would ‘marry’. Gaining of favor through work and exchange of money would ‘win’ the hand in marriage of daughters and sons were also dedicated to a ‘chosen’ marriage. Paul furthered the ‘institution’ of marriage as being honorable (Heb. 13:4) and to represent the union between God and His ‘people’. It was compared to the love of Christ to his saints (Eph. 5:25-27).

But what about people who don’t ascribe to the Bible and its tenets? Should they have to be bound by someone else’s backward thinking based on things that occurred over 2000 years ago? People have been homosexual since the beginning of the existence of people. It is what they feel they are and NO ONE has the right to treat them any differently based on their own standards. It is all ‘whipping game’ on someone who is considered ‘different’. Let’s call it what it is; BULLYING!

Jon Stewart made an interesting comment about what Mitt Romney said concerning ‘marriage is between a man and a woman’. He asked if it is still marriage if it’s a marriage between a man and 5 women, like Mitt’s grandfather enjoyed. Marriage has moved from monogamy to polygamy and back.

The Mormon’s instituted polygamy in Utah because when they arrived there, there were more women than men still alive. In order to propagate the ‘species’, men needed to take on several wives. Yet again, MEN made that decision and NOT God! They claimed they were ‘guided’ to that decision by the Divine. This is interesting based on their philosophy that ‘Elohim’ impregnated Mary with ‘Jesus Christ’. The origin of the ‘Elohim’ are the 7 spirits of God in the Torah; not one ‘spirit’ that impregnated Mary to have a son that was the brother of Lucifer.

Those who try to legislate what they ‘feel’ is their ‘morality’ on others are not coming from Divine love. They are coming from their EGOS!!! It is the ego’s attempt to control, dominate and manipulate others into behaving like them. Don’t allow the agendas of self-righteously indignant pious assholes inflict their agendas upon ANYONE who loves another human being. These people are the Pharisees. We are taught prejudice by accepting and believing what certain people have imparted to us. Since we are ‘wanting to receive love’ from our families or people that we respect, we seek their approval by accepting what they believe and burying it subconsciously if it conflicts with what we feel is true. It comes out at various stages of our lives in critical times because our egos are trying to implement self-survival at all costs.

The ego automatically implements the confirmed ‘choices’ that have worked in the past and are stored in our subconscious minds (the construct) and chemically in the reptilian part of our brain.

Zimmerman’s perceived survival was dependent on proving to himself that he was worthy of the ideals that he has accepted as true. Every fiber of his being was committed to implement what he ‘thought’ was true and correct to him; even though he knew the learned difference between right and wrong (if he hadn’t he wouldn’t have volunteered for the community watch).

Somewhere he knew that he had a license to kill and decided to prove it; for whatever warped reason he may have had at the time he chose to deny another the right to ‘live’ their life the way they saw fit.

The hoodie was NOT the problem. It might have contributed to Zimmerman’s choices as a result of his ‘criminal radar’. Ultimately, the choice to carry out this execution occurred way before it was carried out. Whether one has a propensity toward one thing or another, it is in the learning and emotional conviction that one accepts as true in their subconscious minds that ultimately ‘program’ the reactive choice.

Zimmerman was looking to justify his life and thought his purpose was to take action in the community watch program. He made the steps toward the manifestation of his conviction based on his beliefs.

We all do this every day but most of us don’t murder another individual to prove our egos right. Being kind and loving is more important than being right. Education is implemented by many different processes and when we teach objectivity and mutual respect, we will reap that end. When we de-regulate this type of teaching, we will NOT have the world we are experiencing right now. We will be approaching a state of complete heaven on earth.

People like Zimmerman will come and go but we must make the potential future killers know that they will NEVER see the light of day in freedom it they take the life of anyone. We must stand strong about this together, or we will reap what we sow and starve from the lack of proper nutrition.

When someone takes their gift of celebrity and uses it to help others, they truly ‘get it’. Just like Harry Connick, Jr. and Brangelina did with Katrina victims. They took their time AND money to help others. No matter what someone believes about them as people, their actions demonstrated caring and concern. Do you put your money or your time where your mouth is? Do you go out of your way to help others that are in need?

Watch what George Clooney says on Chris Matthew’s program ‘Hard Ball’ tonight on MSNBC (5 PM and 7 PM). Learn about what people are going through and extend a helping hand. It could be to contribute money, your time or even diligent prayer. Contribute to the world in which you live and make the steps for it to become the Kingdom of Heaven.

Don’t throw your arms up in the air and say that all of the political parties are the same and that they are all crooks. That might be true on the surface, but let’s look at the sub modalities. The Republicans want us to ‘go back’ to the ‘values’ they hold as working. Yet, when under the microscope they are revealed as NOT working! They are out for big business and NOT you! The Democrats lean toward the equality of all but operate much the same way as the Republicans do to finance their elections.

No matter which party is in power, they all begin to redistrict voting zones to their own advantage so they can win the next election. Strict ‘Campaign Finance Reform’ would minimize this occurrence. The Supreme Court has allowed foreign and corporate monies to finance our elections. Don’t you see how manipulative that is? We are no longer in control of our mutual destiny and that is why politicians get away with incessant lies about our status!

Become a part of the solution to ending war, world hunger and equal rights. Don’t allow the professional prevaricators to spin the facts to their advantage. Step in and speak the truth. Your very soul and the souls of your family, friends and neighbors are at stake. Listen to the Divine’s inner guidance and put a stop to overt and covert control, domination and manipulation by ANY government and their egomaniacal leaders. Be assertive and strong. Our very lives are at stake.

Now, how would he truly know that? Was he inside of the kennel traveling at high rates of speed with the wind drowning his breath? Was the dog able to see outside of the kennel while the wind was rushing by? Did he have enough water and food in the kennel to sustain him? What about the dog’s fears of being strapped to the roof of the car and moving at high speeds? Did Willard have any empathy for the dog? Hardly.

He stated that the dog loved it without experiencing the ride from the dog’s perspective. Much like when he said he didn’t care about the poor. He said they have a safety net to sustain them. What about the dog’s safety net? Did he have a choice to ride on the roof of the car putting his life in danger or ride inside with the kids? Hardly.

This behavior clearly demonstrates a man out of touch with the reality of other peoples’ (and animals’) experiences. Yes, he might have been so smart with numbers to take advantage of financial ‘opportunities’ but when it comes to decency, compassion and understanding he CLEARLY flunks out.

What would you say to a neighbor who strapped his dog in a kennel to the top of the car? Wouldn’t you call Animal Regulation and point out his blatant ignorance? Or would you simply say ‘live and let live’? Be wary of those who claim to have your best interests at heart. They are trying to pull the wool over your eyes with their ‘practiced’ graciousness. In reality, they are wolves in sheep’s clothing saying and doing what you want to hear and observe to gain your support.

Don’t allow Willard to strap you to the top of his car and drive you to wherever HE thinks you need to be. He has already proven that he has NO clue to what the rest of have to experience by working, paying rising bills and finding the time to spend with our families.

The term silver spoon comes to mind. He made a fortune but he had the money to start making his fortune. Is that a self-made millionaire? Yes and no. Why don’t we just make some waffles for breakfast, Willard? ~Dean A. Banks, D.D.

Is it better to just allow things to happen that you perceive you can do nothing about? Or is it better to wield your perceived personal power to ‘make’ things happen? Or is it the ability to practice ‘passive resistance’ or ‘active allowance’ effectively? You decide! ~Dean A. Banks, D.D.

I have known many Mormons in my life and Willard is the typical ‘stiff’ character who says one thing and does another. Having played in a band at many Mormon ‘stake’ dances, I came to see that kids were restricted from drinking Cokes and wasting time at amusement parks while certain members of the Mormon Church were major stock holders in Coca Cola and Six Flags Theme Parks. The message is clear: protect the constituents and make profit off of those who aren’t no matter what the effects were.

We are aware of your shell game, Willard. Just like Governor Walker of Wisconsin, while his constituents were watching his game he rose to power and began to dismantle the structure that so many worked towards for collective bargaining in the face of over gouged profits from corporations with political agendas. Governor Walker sold out his constituency and his ‘conscience’ and WILL be recalled as Governor of a state of hard working people.

It’s the old ‘bait and switch’ routine. When the eye is focused on one shell the hand is moving the other with the object underneath. It is an EGO game that fools those who are trusting of others. What does that say about them? It speaks volumes. It says that they think that the rest of us are stupid and that they think they are superior due to their ‘take’ on life and what its perceived rules are in relation to their ‘faith’. Again, it’s a shell game designed to give them control of all of the apples and put them in the position to decide if and when we get those apples and for whatever price they choose to charge us to purchase those apples.

It’s the same old EGO game of control, domination and manipulation. It has NOTHING to do with respecting the spiritual understanding of anyone but themselves and their agenda. Keep your eye on the shell and don’t be distracted by a suit dressed in jeans and speaking in the language of a region where they ‘want’ something.

Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are the same. Both have changed their past positions to convince their base that they are the one to lead them. It is NOT about what’s in the best interests for their base but what is in the best interests of their egos. They think they could lead us all with either ‘evangelical-based horseshit’ or ‘Reagan style economics’, both of which are based on lies and maneuvering.

In Romney’s case, the ‘belief’ in someone (Joseph Smith) who hurt others and lived a life of delusion and control of others by saying ‘what they wanted to hear’. Sound familiar, Willard? ~Dean A. Banks, D.D.

This week we tackled a major creative block – money. We were asked to really look at our own ideas around God, money, and creative abundance.

There really was only one question to explore in our morning pages: Write about the god you do believe in and the god you would like to believe in. We were also asked to keep track of the money we spent.

Since this is the week before Christmas it seemed ridiculous to me to keep track of the money I spent. It was a spending week. I do recognize God at work in my life especially when it comes to our finances. I have been unable to work due to illness for 15 years. My husband, on paper, cannot support this family alone. When I first became ill he picked up a lot of overtime at work. God provided for us. We never missed a mortgage payment, never lost our house, never had to deny our children the necessities of life including extra-curricular activities which I believe ARE necessities of life for children.

I also believe God only gives us what we can handle. As Joyce Meyer says, “Why would God give you a million dollars if He can’t trust you with the ten that you’ve got?” She also rephrases a scripture from the bible saying, “God will give you double for your trouble.” Or as Oprah says, “Give to the world and you get back to the world.” At this time of year, Christmas, I am always prompted to help those in need, and so I gave.

I also felt guilty about spending money buying Christmas presents. I found it a hassle and hard to think of new things to give. I would rather be helping those less fortunate.

Some of the tasks were a little difficult because of the season – collecting stones, leaves and flowers. However, it was a very creative week for me. I began painting a Christmas figurine; I shopped and wrapped Christmas gifts; I baked; I came up with the idea of using pictures as clues for my daughters’ Christmas Eve Box. I went around the house and took pictures of objects and printed them out; and I wrote (not my novel). Then I became exhausted – too exhausted to do anymore, too exhausted to come up with something new and creative to put in that Christmas Eve Box. Looking back at the Artist’s Way’s Basic Principles, which we were to read every day this week, the first one reads, “Creativity is the natural order of life. Life is energy: pure creative energy.” I decided I had used up too much creative energy. I needed to refuel. I never did come up with that something else gift. I’ve been itching to write a poem but have yet to put pen to paper.

I discovered that the stories I write could do more to help people than entertain them. I tend to write about social issues. It is time I finished my novel and bring awareness to these issues. This is God’s work.

We need to enjoy our lives, feel free to pamper ourselves without using lack of money as an excuse. I have always complained that my husband spends money we don’t have for his own pleasures such as golf and trips to visit his family. I used this as confirmation that God would not give us a million dollars if we can’t spend wisely the money we have. Perhaps I am wrong. My husband is enjoying his life, am I enjoying mine? It’s time I stopped making excuses and get out and do what I want to do. My only concern is that doing all these other things will take me further away from my writing.
