Davy Crockett American Folk Hero

Davy Crockett was America’s first folk hero. In the song, he was said to have been born in the mountains of Tennessee and killed himself a bear when he was only three. That was a little exaggerated but Davy Crockett was a man of the people. Although he had very little education he was elected to congress in 1826. He always stood up for the settlers against the land speculators, and he wasn’t shy about playing politics for the good of his people.
