Alfred Dreyfus spent 12 years in Devil’s Island as German spy. On December 22, 1894, as a Jewish officer in the French army, he was sentenced to "deportation for life" for leaking military secrets.

Military men and women (excluding revolutionaries and terrorists) should be treated with dignity and respect as they are authorized by the government to defend their country or to attack other countries perceived to be threats.
