Do you remember “the good old days” when we had control over our classrooms? They are gone. Do you remember “the good old days” when students treated teachers and those in a place of authority with respect? They are gone. Do you remember when a child would get their mouth washed out with soap for calling a teacher a dirty name? Those days are gone, they are no more and they will not be coming back. Not if the ACLU has its way. Some will argue disciplining children by washing their mouths out with soap is abusive. Yet we have a major problem on our hands, children do not have boundaries, they do not respect authority and are grossly out of control.

A plague on our education system, yet we concern ourselves with whether or not a cross in an auditorium might offend someone coming to witness a graduation. As a nation our priorities have shifted with a rather negative affect. When headlines read; Tradition irrelevant, it’s a Christian building. For that reason alone one author responds that we shouldn’t allow such an awful tradition as allowing our students to graduate under a cross, how vile.
