Synopsis

Moenjodaro was by far the most developed city in the Indus Civilization. This 5000-year old city was planned on the line of modern urban metropolises. On the basis of its population, spread and facilities it was the largest and the most developed city in the contemporary world. The Plan provided for an Acropolis and a Lower City, a checkerboard pattern layout, wide streets, elaborate provision for drainage and sewerage disposal, 3000 residential buildings constructed with standardized baked bricks.
