Gone of the days of sex, drugs and rock and roll.

If you haven’t caught on yet, pregnancy is the new ‘black’! Indeed, it seems fashionable to be a parent-in-waiting. Such a drive to procreate is evident in the male of the species with celebrities across the board opting for a more domestic life-style. Gone of the days of sex, drugs and rock and roll. To be a ‘family man’ is the done thing. A high profile example is David Beckham, who recently announced that Victoria is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. Famous people such as Kate Hudson, Selma Blair, Beyonce, Pink and Sienna Miller are all in the process of enlarging the world’s population. But why? What has created this strange phenomenon?

A short time ago it was considered quite dowdy to be hobbling around with a baby on your hip. Indeed, the celebrities kept their offspring out of the public eye as much as possible. The notion of baby spew and smelly nappies certainly did not run alongside the cool, sheik, and adult world of celebrity: babies were ‘out’, yesterday’s news. Now babies are ‘in’. Was it Paris Hilton’s boggled-eyed dog that got them all returning to the old way of nature? Perhaps they deemed that if you’re going to be seen cuddling something, it might as well be meaningful. Who knows?

Adoption fever among celebrities appears to have been forerunner to the small dog phase. Children, for a while at least, appeared to be able to be bought and sold according to the whim of the celebrity in question. Adoption became a little less glamorous when the public began to notice the indulgence. What next? Would they start walking down the street with pink stilettos and a small child’s face beaming out of the crack in the carrier’s matching handbag? ‘Isn’t she delightful? I bought her in China.’

Perhaps celebrities have come around to the notion that the female body can be just as attractive and perhaps a little more womanly when given over to the results of fertility. So, as adoption is no longer the hot thing to do, much better to do it naturally (especially after the stir that Madonna created). Sexy women with baby bumps are parading in gorgeous maternity clothes. Draped in fabric that emphasises the bump rather than hides it, celebrities are savouring the delights of pregnancy.

Whatever the reason for the increasing fondness of the family way, it does have the positive spin off that “real” women can catch a glimpse of these usually svelte stars with, shall we say without malice intended, a touch of fat around their gills.

Prepare to be doubly offended since most of you reading this have closed minds anyway...

National Pride, Religion, and Currency, are the top three killers in the world! Greed is attributed to each of these three things.
When a person has national pride they think their nation is better than everyone else and in turn think they are better than everyone else, which is a form of greed. Religion is a top killer mainly because of humans false interpretations of religions. People in religion then proceed to kill in the name of their god(s). This is also a form of greed to think that your god(s) is more supreme than your neighbor’s god(s). Bigoted Christians would be a good example of greed in religion. Though they are not the only religion that kills and spouts hate in the name of their god(s).
Finally, we have currency. Everyone is greedy over currency. Currency doesn’t necessarily mean money either. Currency is a word used to describe whatever holds the utmost value such as oil.
Since all humans are greedy when it comes to national pride, religion, and currency we have wars. It goes to show then that greed is the strongest killer in the world and that humanity still needs to evolve to a level where there will be less greed. Unfortunately, this will never happen…Some people say that people who are on “government cheese” are useless. Not so! Many of these people have severe mental and physical health problems and the programs are needed. Not many others understand health issues especially if a person doesn’t look sick. I can understand being angry at the people who play the system to get on welfare and SSI though. Those are the types of people that ruin it for everyone else. Once again it also another form of greed. Every human has greed no matter what. Greed doesn’t necessarily mean money hungry either. It could be national pride, self-loathing, and other things, which you should be able to figure out if you open your mind and think about it.

There is more as well. The single mothers that are on “government cheese” because they can’t afford to take care of a child on their own or were forced not to get an abortion. You would be surprised how many single mothers I know that loathe or resent their children. Once again that is one of the many reason I am for abortion. A child deserves a loving parent or parent(s) and if that can’t be given than the woman should have the choice to abort.

Anyway, I have more views coming but this is what I have for now. And it is a mess of thoughts mainly because I was typing it as I was thinking it. More of my views on things are coming soon…

Can Rats Tell The Difference Between Speaking Japanese or Dutch Backwards?

If you have ever wondered what language scientists speak, it’s probably a language only rats can understand.

The gallant science community tries with all its might to discover the hidden secrets of the universe and humankind, leaving no stone unturned in order to learn the truth about what makes us and the universe tick. We can applaud them for their efforts, right? Not so fast.

A group of Spanish scientists, who were trying to find how babies utilize the rhythm, stress, and intonation of speech to learn how to speak and understand speech, decided it would be a good idea to determine if rats can distinguish the difference between a person speaking Japanese backwards and a person speaking Dutch backwards.

We’ll pause here while you re-read the previous sentence.

You’ve Got To Be Kidding?

It’s hard to fathom what these scientists were thinking or to explain what they did and what possible relevance it might have to babies learning to speak. According to the scientists their goal “was to study whether rats can discriminate between Dutch and Japanese sentences they have never heard before on the basis of the regularities they extract from other sentences during training. That is, whether rats are able to extract certain features from the speech signal that are different in the Dutch and Japanese sentences, and are then able to discriminate between two new sentences of these languages which belong to different rhythmic categories.”

Doesn’t that clear up everything?

Rats Fail – What A Surprise!

The scientists when to great lengths to conduct their experiments and making sure the rats were well cared for during their experiments – which included making the rats listen to a series of Japanese and Dutch language recordings played backwards.

It should come to no one’s surprise that “the rats’ failure to discriminate backward speech, and the costs of the normalization process, suggest the possibility that these effects might reflect general auditory constraints that shape aspects of language acquisition.”

In other words – the stupid experiment didn’t work as anyone with a brain one-tenth the size of a rat’s would have been able to determine without going to all the time, cost and effort necessary to conduct this experiment.

You have to congratulate the scientists, however. Somehow they were able to convince their sponsoring university that conducting such experiments was worthwhile. Or, maybe everyone speaking languages they didn’t understand, let alone speaking them in reverse, confused the higher ups.

This world is better off with many smiles than long, gloomy and begrudging faces because those who shove smiles away from their faces reap failure and invite worries in their lives forever.

You may dress to kill in a very expensive designer outfit and diamond rings dazzling all around you, but if you lack a smile on your face, you repel positive attributes away from your life. A smile tells a lot about you, infact a delightful smile on your face is worth a million dollars because a good and consuming smile makes people like you and definitely brings you unexplained charm and success.

A smile speaks louder than words

When you flash a smile at someone, you are communicating very many things at once that words are not able to do. By smiling, you are actually telling someone how happy she or he makes you feel and how much you like him/her. Indeed, a smile is one way to say “you are welcome to my world”. This is basically the reason why pets are such a hit to their masters. They are so glad to see their masters back home that they almost want to jump out of their skins.

A smile can change everything

A simple smile can change everything, even in situations of life and death. A story is being told of a group of patients who were eagerly waiting for a Doctor to treat them. They all were very anxious and quiet , deeply afraid of the unknown. Then another sick woman came over with a baby and sat next to a sick and perhaps the gloomiest of all the patients around. The baby flashed an innocent smile at the man-he smiled back and soon the somber atmosphere in the waiting room changed unbelievably. The man started engaging the mother of the baby in a conversation, and all those sick patients who saw the baby smile soon joined in a happy interaction among themselves. This only served to show how powerful a smile can be.

A smile can be seen from a thousand miles

If you put on sincere smile, it will show on your face thousands of miles away. People can tell between a true smile and a fake one. People who are apt to smiling tend to manage, teach and sell more effectively and they often raise happier children than those who don’t. The effect of a smile is so powerful that even when it is not seen, people can feel it. Have you ever talked to someone on a phone and felt that inspite of the distance between you, he/she seems to be smiling? That explains just how omnipresent a smile can be even when you are physically worlds apart.

Smile to yourself today even if there is no one to smile to

Successful people everywhere employ the power of smiles to get what they want. Just try to smile today even if you are alone. Whistle, hum to some favorite tune and while you do this, give your face a smile and you will see your life heading towards a positive and fulfilling direction. This world is better off with many smiles than long, gloomy and begrudging faces because those who shove smiles away from their faces reap failure and invite worries in their lives forever.

November 20, 2011: Look who is back! It’s the talking twin babies

This video, which was originally posted on YouTube February 14, 2011, I back on this week’s viral video charts. At over 50 million views, it is a wonder it ever left.

The video is of twin brothers engaged in, what appears to be, a conversation. If one didn’t know better, one might imagine they shared a secret language.

There are two “best guesses” as to what is really going on: One is, it is a game (playtime activity) the two are engaged in, which looks like talking to us; Or they are, in fact, imitating adult behavior, as they see it.

In either case: we do get a new perspective of human conversation; and these babies are “oh, so cute.”

Brought to you by: Another break from the poetry
Sources: YouTube, jayrandall22011, New York Times

What to feed your baby girl or boy as the baby grows from few months to five years.

What to feed your baby girl or boy as the baby grows from few months to five years.

When your child is only 1 year old or less, lot of care has to be taken while feeding the baby. The baby should be given only milk and let the baby get sleep almost all the time. As the baby grows, he/she can also be fed Farex baby powder mixed in milk.

After one year and few months, a mother can also make a mix of grounded rice, dal, sugar all powdered and added to milk. This can be fed to the baby morning and evening.

When the baby reaches two years of age, he/she can be given fruits like Banana, Apple, Orange, Grapes etc. either as juices or as cut pieces. One can also feed the baby with curd and cheese.

The baby can be given boiled eggs after three years of age. Now the baby can also be fed cooked rice at regular times as the adults take. The baby can be fed vegetable curries with rice and chapathis.

The baby can also fed simple meat after four years along with rice.

Related terms: baby food recipe, baby food diet, baby food coupons, baby food processor, baby food jars, baby food maker

As the babies are always trying to eat something or the other, the babies must be protected from playing with plastic toys or small metal toys or items or things that can get into their throat or stomach and get stuck there causing big medical emergencies. Care must be taken always to ensure they take proper foods and nothing else.

Abortion.
The basic Pro-Life argument: A zygote/embryo/fetus is a living human being who deserves a chance at life, regardless of the faults or desires of it's mother. Stopping it's chance at life=murder. It is playing God to keep life from a child.

I'm Pro-Choice: My issue with the above is that it puts the baby's chance at life over the chance of life an abortion seeker needs. I also believe it is playing God to force life on a child who may suffer.

If a woman feels she is unable to care for a child, she knows that her offspring’s survival is at risk, and her own as well. Since the beginning of time, it has been common that a child-bearing woman will abandon/not nurse and therefore starve/or kill a baby or end a pregnancy that threatens her survival. This makes more sense for the sustainability of the human race. Abortion: older than religion. A child-bearing woman may bear another child. If a mother sacrifices herself to keep a baby alive, the baby will still die without her. You can argue that the family or adoption make this unnecessary but, most women seeking abortion do so because they feel it would be dangerous to have a child in their current situation and do not have the necessary support from the government or people in their life.
There are simply not enough adoptions taking place to encourage people to have children in order to give them up. These children are often forced into an emotionally scarring situations with government agencies and rarely have happy chlidhoods. For every foster child or orphan that has flourished there are another hundred beaten, raped, abused, are suicidal, murdered, or become criminal individuals probably because they were never shown a better life.
Abortive measures such as teas, physical stress, weightloss, etc… have been around for thousands of years, since before a religion condemned them.

Who wants an abortion?
No one!

Who feels they need one?
People who have made mistakes; been victims of chance, crimes, and circumstance; people who want to live a better life and contribute more than they will be able to by bringing a person into the world at that time in their lives.

People like:

An teen (or younger) who will never experience a normal life, nor will her child due to social hardship and stereotypes.

A woman with health issues that will risk her life during pregnancy. She may possibly leave her child without a mother and possibly endanger them both before, during, and after delivery.

A woman with no family or money to cloth, feed, or educate a child and refuses to breed poverty and suffering.

A woman who has been raped and may be too emotionally unstable to care for a child, or may be unable to endure the violation of carrying the child and genes of her abuser and suffering another traumatic event 9 months later, still in pain at his hand. She may be mentally unable to nurture the child of her attacker for 18 years, haunted by violence, seeing their attackers face in their child’s.

A woman who may live a resentful and unfulfilled life with an unwanted child, who feels she is not cut out for motherhood and knows she cannot raise a productive member of society.

A woman whose birth control methods failed or were sabotaged.

A woman who does not want this child, for reasons of disability or fatal illness in genetics

The loved ones of these women.

Who is anyone to say they aren’t allowed to make this choice? Let’s assume you call women who desire abortions to be murderesses and sinners… If you think it’s murder in the eyes of your God… let them do it. Leave God to punish the sinners. Are YOU not playing God by trying to punish a sinner? If you shackle a sinner to keep them from sinning, are they still a sinner? We don’t often severly punish or imprison Americans who kill others in self-defense. I think that is closer to what abortion is. Not murder.

How does one pit a first chance against a second chance at life? Perhaps people should not get a second chance at life ever? Should people have no medical care when survival estimation drops below 50%? What’s the magic line between life that should and should not be helped or allowed to happen?

In 1973 The Court deemed abortion a fundamental right under the United States Constitution, thereby subjecting all laws attempting to restrict it to the standard of strict scrutiny.
The Thirteenth Amendment addresses women’s rights: When women are compelled to carry and bear children, they are subjected to ‘involuntary servitude’ in violation of the Thirteenth Amendment….[E]ven if the woman has stipulated to have consented to the risk of pregnancy, that does not permit the state to force her to remain pregnant.

Interestingly a 1990’s drop in crime (murder fell in some area by as much as 50%) was having trouble being explained. After police tactics, population counts and the average criminal age were accounted for, the remaining explanation was this: The criminals simply did not exist where they had in the past. Enough [mostly young, low-income, single] mothers had taken advantage of their rights to abort unwanted children and therefore, poor, unwanted children fathered by deadbeats, rapists, and selfish teens were not in existence to become criminals in their adolescence and young adulthood. The investigation of this effect showed that populations had not been very affected, because most women who aborted, ended up having wanted children a few years later, who were not as criminally inclined. The higher a state’s abortion rate, the lower the crime. In many areas, the number of citizens NOT murdered by criminals well surpassed the number of abortions. In the sake of preserving human life, how is this not an accomplishment?

Similarly in 1966, Romania’s dictator outlawed abortion and birth control, even implementing a “celibacy tax” on women who didn’t get pregnant. This caused birth rates to double. He intended to strengthen his nation with its growing population, but the children of 1967 tested less intelligently and were twice as likely to become criminals. The ban was lifted after 23 years (perhaps the average criminal age there?)

These observations tell us that society operates more peacefully, and human populations are not dangerously affected as a result of abortion. Life is better for all when women’s bodies are their own, not the government’s, not the church’s and not men’s. Abortion: Furthering the peaceful human race, one woman’s protected choice at a time.

And finally a plea: Leave people to make their own choices. Educate, preach, and assist, but forcing others to bend to your own moral standing does not produce faith. Isn’t the point of faith that it cannot be forced or simulated? Of course, anyone is free to judge others, but not to control them. The power to arrange and force births is one carried out by slave-owners, not saints.

You may have never thought about it, but you can bet some scientist, somewhere has – unfortunately.

Have you ever wondered why pregnant women, especially late in their term with stomachs bulging, don’t tip over? I haven’t either. But, researchers at Harvard University and the University of Texas have – and aren’t we all better for that news?

An astonishing scientific finding, brought to you by the great minds at Harvard University and the University of Texas at Austin, discovered that “when a pregnant women leans bask, and shifts her weight to stand more comfortably, she is performing a motion that for millions of years has helped to compensate for the strain and weight of childbearing on the body.” You don’t say? Until now you may have thought woman were glued to the ground and only that fact prevented them from tipping over and rolling down the street, right?

Never Say No to Research

Imagine for a moment a researcher walking into the higher ups at Harvard University and asking if she could research the reasons pregnant women don’t tip over. Most rational minds would have chased her out the door and put her on the ‘first to be fired’ list. But, that’s not what happens in academe. You think of a subject for research and no matter how pointless they give you a pat on the head, and enough resources, to go right ahead and spend all the time you desire to pursue some inane hypothesis.

The researchers were pleased as punch to announce that they discovered the fact that women’s lower spines evolved to be more flexible and supportive than men’s so the women would be more comfortable during pregnancy and carrying their child after birth. Wow.

Pregnancy is Challenging, In Case You Didn’t Know

These researchers are really serious about this, proclaiming, “Pregnancy presents an enormous challenge for the female body [because] the body must change in dramatic ways to accommodate the baby, and these changes affect a woman’s stability and posture.” Is this news to anyone? The researchers go on to claim that their study is the first of its kind to examine the evolutionary mechanisms that allow women to carry a baby to term, and the way that women’s bodies compensate for increased weight in the abdomen during pregnancy. One would hope this is the last time such research is deemed necessary.

To further nail down their innovative research, the scientists studied 19 pregnant women between the ages of 20 and 40, and found that when naturally standing (as opposed to unnaturally standing?), the women lean back. Well, that settles it, doesn’t it? We now know for a fact that pregnant women are unlikely to lean forward if they don’t want to go tumbling down the street.

Somewhere in maternity wards, women are having their children and enjoying the fact that their new bundle of joy will be standing upright and that their mothers didn’t fall face down every time they stood up. It’s quite reassuring, isn’t it? So, let’s give those researchers in Boston and Texas a big cheer – for falling flat on their faces.
