Our Wal-Mart mutt turned out to be much more.

I first met Klink in a Wal-Mart parking lot. A tiny little Hispanic man had a box full of puppies and a sign that said $25. I didn’t need a puppy, and I really didn’t want the extra responsibility at the time. I had a toddler, and my marriage was pretty shaky at the time. Then an incredibly chubby little fur ball jumped up on the edge of the box, and toppled the whole thing over. When he stopped rolling, puppies were scattered all over, and he was laying at my feet. My daughter turned on her best begging skills. It turns out that I am just a big softy, and Klink came home with us.

I took our new puppy to the vet the next day and received a big surprise. The vet looked Klink over and gave him a clean bill of health. He then asked if I knew what breed he was. I had no idea, I thought he probably had some German Shepherd in the mix. Imagine my surprise when Dr. Haworth told me that Klink was a wolf hybrid. The good doctor knew the little Hispanic man, and had just given Klink his shots a week before. I’m ashamed to say that my first reaction was of fear. I just knew that our sweet little butterball was going to grow up into a viscous animal. I asked the vet to find him a new home. Dr. Haworth told me that I should really give our puppy a chance. We were already deeply in love with Klink, so I did just that.

I went home and told my husband what I had learned. He was thrilled to find out that we had a wolf in our house. I went to the internet and spent hours researching wolf hybrids. I educated myself on the special needs Klink would have, and the special challenges we would face with him. He is by far the most intelligent dog we have ever owned, but he is also extremely stubborn. He can pick up a trick in no time, but no amount of begging or treats will convince him to try it if he is not in the mood. He picked up on house training right away, but anytime my sister brought her dog over, Klink would pee on her dog bed.

I really got the puppy for my daughter, but it became very clear that Klink was my dog. He adores my little girl, and he is very protective of her. Klink will put himself between my daughter and anything he deems dangerous, and will herd her in the other direction. One day I took them both to the lake, and Klink stood between her and the waves, as if he was afraid she was going to get hurt. But when he felt like he was off duty, he was by my side. At night he sleeps right beside my bed so that I can reach down and pet him. At one year old, Klink weighed 120 pounds. He has put on a little more height since than. The problem is that he thinks he is a lap dog. He starts out sitting beside me on the couch, but slowly snuggles closer and closer until he is on top of me.

While we have known all along how special Klink is, my neighbors were not so convinced. He does have a habit of serenading the neighbors at night with his deep wolf howl, and when he smiles at you, it does look a bit scary. Recently, Klink showed everyone just how wonderful he is. A new family moved in across the street, a very busy single mother, and her five young children. The mother had to rely on babysitters to watch the children at night while she worked. One night around 11 PM Klink was involved in one of his favorite past times, sitting on the couch looking out the window at the street. Suddenly he started barking loudly at the window, and then ran to the door asking to be let out. I took him outside, and he ran straight for the street. Our neighbor’s three year old had let himself out of the house and was sitting at the edge of the street. Klink started herding the little boy back into his yard. We called his mother and she came immediately. Our neighbor is terrified of large dogs, but she walked up and gave Klink a huge hug. Our dog is no Lassie, he didn’t find Timmy in the well. But he is still very special to us, and seems to enjoy being called Klink the Wonder Dog.

Just how sick a lonely 19 year old gets. This guy deserves whatever the Justice system can serve on him.

We take you to Frederick, Maryland, where a couple had the unfortunate judgment to allow 19-year-old Ryan Sheppard to babysit their 1-year-old baby boy. The problem was that Sheppard is a sadistic pedophile…

Sometime during the span he was supposed to be babysitting the child, Sheppard called the boy’s parents, telling them that the baby was bleeding and struggling to breathe. By the time they arrived home, the boy’s lips were turning blue.
H

e was rushed to a hospital in Washington, D.C. That’s where doctors discovered the boy had a torn colon. They were forced to fit him with a colostomy bag, since his colon was too damaged to work properly. They believe it will take multiple surgeries before it’s finally repaired.

The injury posed natural problems for Sheppard, since small children rarely tear their colons while taking a nap. Police asked the shithead what happened. He admitted to raping the little kid so violently it may have caused permanent damage.
Police also found child porn on his home computer.

Ryan is awaiting trial for Rape, Neglegence, Child Abuse, Attempted Murder, and Sexual Assualt. He will be serving at least 5 years, because he has already confessed, they can throw whatever they want at him. And Hopefully, they do.

If
you are a parent and, for lack of time, hire a babysitter to take care
of it your son, this could turn later, a serial womanizer, claims
British psychiatrist Dennis Friedman.

The
doctor, who wrote a book on the topic, said that too early giving the
responsibility to raising a child, is risking his equipment, boy being a
double standard when it comes to women. Even if you ever get married, will always remain with the feeling that another woman beside him than might meet the needs.

In
the mind of such a child, it creates a division between the woman he
recognizes as the natural mother and that is indeed involved in
mother-son relationship. As
a result, although the boy will cross all social and sexual formalities
of a marriage, some subconscious notion will live with other women, who
not only knows but them and cares about all his desires.

Even girls are not immune, said Dr. Friedman. If
they are cared for by a nanny, are very spoiled, like a vacuum cleaner
needs, which later will seek to “fill the bag in a variety of ways,
such as drinking, irresponsible spending of money, chaotic drug administration and maintenance of sex.

This is just a little blurb about Day Care work.

Just because a person works in a daycare, doesn’t mean that they are all ga-ga about kids. Most of them are not kid friendly outside of work. My room mate for instance, worked at a daycare and has no intention of having children or caring for her step children. Her lifestyle is not conducive to that. Of course she did not stay at that job too long.

I too work for a daycare. I love working at the daycare as I am a big kid anyway. I like all the things the kids like and so working there is great. It also helps that I am a small person and can fit in all the little chairs. No, I am not a midget, just short. I like that I am on the kid’s level so they don’t have to look too far up. And when they get out of hand, giving them the evil eye is much easier. Thank goodness I do have great kids that I am not going crazy all the time. I thank the parents who show their children good manners and discipline. It all starts at home.

I never wanted to turn this into a career, not really. I sort of fell into the whole daycare thing by accident. I was young and the idea of making money was something that I really wanted to pounce upon. I knew that there had to be some family out there willing to employ a young person to watch their children. I guess that is where I came in. I searched the news papers and put my name out there. I had started my search for independence through employment.

I landed a job right around the corner. I truly had lucked out. Here was a family willing to let me take care of their little girl. It was great. They would pick me up when I needed a ride and everything. Yeah, I had started babysitting for them before I could drive. I babysat for that family for a very long time. When they had decided to move, they kept me on. it was great. I always had money in my pocket. It was such an easy job. Some babysitters never form a bond with the children or families. They just figure that it is easy money and little responsibility. Boy are those folks wrong.

I fell into this whole daycare thing on a whim. I take great care of the kids in my charge. I become their friend and bond with them. I make sure that they are clean, fed, and have fun. I didn’t want to do this for a living, but it is one of the best jobs out there. Where else can you go and be goofy and that be the norm? Where can you sing silly songs and not be looked at funny. I could never work in a cubicle without windows. I enjoy playing outside and coloring. I enjoy kids at work and say that it is only a job, but secretly I really do like kids as long as they are not my own, hehehe…

A member of one of my family member's wedding parties was indicted this week for murder. I too was in the wedding party.

A couple of months ago, a family member of mine sent me a photo and story of a guy and said do you recognize him? It took me a minute but them I remembered that the two of them were friends. The guy was one of the groomsmen at his wedding and I was one of the bridesmaids.

The wedding was years ago, maybe 12 or 13 years. I had know Brad on and off for a couple of years around this time. He seemed like a nice enough guy. Handsome, quiet, polite. I knew that him and his girlfriend at the time (not the wife he’s accused of murdering) had issues. We thought it was mainly just jealousy on the part of his girlfriend though.

This man accused of murder is actually the first person outside of my family to babysit my first born child. Luckily, my family member was there with him too. But still. Can you imagine finding out years later that you left your child with a murderer? I know that nothing happened to my son while I was away but it definitely creeps me out that such violence would even come near my son.

When Brad and his girlfriend at the time broke up, I even thought about going after him myself. He was handsome, a friend of the family and going to University. I am such a lousy judge of character. Thank goodness that I was a single mom going to University myself full time and did not have time for such foolishness as dating.

Not long after he broke up with his girlfriend, my family lost touch with him. None of us has spoken to him in about a decade. I’m glad that the contact ended when it did. I’m not sure why my family member and him stopped being friends. I think they just sort of drifted apart.

He is accused of murdering his wife. They have two daughters together. I don’t know if he did it or not. I haven’t spoken to him in years. How could a man treat his wife and the mother of his children so poorly?

Violence against women and domestic abuse occur at a staggering rate. If you are in a situation where you are being abused, get help. It will not get better. He will not stop. It could end tragically for you and your children. You need to save yourself. Go to a shelter. Phone the police. Move under the cover of night. Do whatever you have to do to be safe. Understand that you could be the next statistic. The next woman to be killed by her husband or boyfriend.

If you think that someone in your life is being abused, talk to them about it. Be supportive, not confrontational. Do everything you can do to ensure their safety. If you think children are in danger, it is your duty to ensure their safety. Phone the police. Phone child welfare services. The violence has to stop.

Do you have a child in childcare? You might what to read about your child's actually daily activities. To your surprise it may not be as posted.

Let me take the time to discuss a day in the life of a childcare provider. I am sure if you have a child in childcare you have seen a schedule similar to this:

Morning snack 8:30-9:30

Diaper Change 9:30-10:00

Circle Time 10:00-10:30

Clean-up/Diaper Change 10:30-11:00

Lunch Time 11:00-11:30

Naptime 11:00-2:00

Diaper Change 2:00-2:30

Snack Time 2:30-3:00

Circle Time 3:00-3:30

Diaper Change 3:30-4:00

Story time 4:30-5:00

Free Play/Clean-up last Diaper Change 5:00-6:00

No class under three or four will ever follow this schedule. This schedule is one of those DHR requirements. The center is required to have them posted. There are some childcare chains who give the teachers a pre-printed schedule to post. The teacher has no input in the schedule and they may not change any of the format.

It also works as an advertisement for the director. When a director, who actually have no idea what goes on in the classrooms, give potential parents a walk thru they can appear to have some kind of knowledge about classroom activities. Director, Assistant Director and/or any office staff have no idea what goes on in the classroom daily.

Your child’s actual schedule is more like snack, diaper, free play, diaper, lunch, nap, diaper, snack, free play, diaper, pick-up time. Times may vary!

So what’s your child during diapering and cleaning? They are getting hit, bite and/or a toy taken from them or they are hitting, biting and/or taking a toy from someone. Ideally there maybe another staff member in the room yet, with the ratio standard and anyone lower than the director does really count, the one teacher rule usually stands.

Monday’s are the worst. If you think Monday’s in the office are busy add three busy toddlers, two loose bowels, two sleepy babies times I Miss Mommy crying along with trying to smile while a parent who is inquiring about a bib missing from Friday; you will have effectively describe a day in the life of … and that’s just the first two hours.

All childcare providers agree T.G.M.O. (Thank God Monday’s Over).

You live with your coworkers at least eight hours a day! Wouldn't you like to ask a few questions before someone is hired?

In this day and age of a Human Resources Department in a far distant land interviewing people for your new cube neighbor, I say the current residents of Cubeville be allowed to ask the really important questions. Who cares if she/he can type 100 wpm or set up a spreadsheet in a nanosecond, if that person is one of the most annoying creatures on the face of the earth? After all, the residents of Cubeville are the ones who will have to suffer with the newbie for eight hours a day until finally going totally insane, wigging out and losing the crumby job you hated anyway…

Do you clip your nails at work?

Living in the cube environment, not only is the sound disgusting, but also those nails can fly over a cube wall like a guided missile. Realizing that I was under attack by the new guy in the cube next door, I quickly had to cover my coffee and Danish to prevent contamination, while trying not to get my eye put out!

Do you have a desire to bond with your coworkers?

Take a good look around the office. What percent of these people come in with a hang over? Now take a good look at the working moms who either have their home nanny cam on their screen all day, or are on the phone screaming at the babysitter. Then there is a percentage of office workers either looking for a relationship either to replace the one they have, or for one to have on the sly. Do not be naïve; there are always some in every office. Then there is the group who live to stampede the hallways to the vending machines every morning and load up on 4000 calories to make it through to lunch. Do not forget the brown-nosers, or the ones who are just miserable human beings. These people do not want to bond with you. Nor do they want to come in ½ hour early every day to meet with you on a spiritual level. There will not be group hugs, or “sharing”.

Are you a “Holiday” person?

Are you on Hallmarks’ mailing list for every conceivable holiday on this planet? Do you use your attic to store all your “office” decorations? Have you been banned from any dollar store for scaring small children while grabbing every hokey decoration in the place? Do you buy Santa hats for all your coworkers and beg them to wear these fuzzy, fun filled hats every day from Thanksgiving until Christmas? Do you have 30 Christmas sweaters with matching earrings? Do you insist Christmas carols be played for 8 hours a day, every day? Perhaps living in Cubeville is not for you. Have you considered a job at Macy’s?

Is your voice mail greeting longer than the Gettysburg Address?

When another resident in Cubeville has the misfortune of having to call you, do they have to suffer through the following:

“Hello. You have reached Ms. Kimberly Suzanne Washington-Castrogiovanni, Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to Ms. Evelyn Grace Worthington-Warrington, Vice President of Research and Development in the Department of Complete Insanity, because by now you have left your phone and run off screaming due to the length of this voice mail greeting, but if by some chance you are still there, you may leave a message at the tone and I will gladly return your call just as soon as I finish my other call or return to my desk. Just leave your name, number, the time and a brief message, oh and have a great and blessed day! We have all heard them and have wanted to climb right through the phone and rip their lips off! Why do they do it? Is it a plot by our enemies to drive us insane? It is no longer a drive; it’s more of a short putt…

Does your entire family call your cellphone nonstop all day?

Do you have the most annoying ring tone you could possibly find? Despite answering it 50 times a day, you still forget where you left the phone and have to fumble finding it, while the rest of Cubeville is subjected to the ring tone of the Dukes’ of Hazard? Must your relatives call you at work and ask, “What ya are you doin?” to which you must reply, “nuthin”? Yes, we all know that you are not working, how could you be when you are on your cellphone all day.

Are you coffee making challenged?

The drink of choice in Cubeville is coffee. A rule of the community is, if you take the last cup, make another pot of coffee. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It has taken the Cubeville community years of training to make sure all of the citizens are completely trained in the art of pouring a pot of water into the coffee maker and putting fresh grounds in the basket. No excuses, no lapses in memory, no burning pots left on, no office fires!

Do you bring your daily spending money with you every day?

Do not expect to be getting loans from the citizens of Cubeville. We no longer fall for that one. If you cannot remember to bring your own lunch or your lunch money, have the adult in charge of your supervision put it in your pocket before you leave home.

Are all of your relatives involved in any of the “work part time from home and make millions” selling schemes?

Cubeville has a no littering policy pertaining to those brochures advertising worthless junk that we already have filling the rooms of our homes. We have all been exposed to those folks that have either a mother, daughter, husband, 3rd cousin, or neighbor who wants you to hustle more Avon, Mary Kay, Amway, gift wrap, cookie dough or other stuff on your unsuspecting coworkers. Do not do it, you will quickly be shunned in Cubeville.
