Sometime told you that you will never amount to anything, another person told you that you are going to fail. Oh! I forgot about that guy who said that you have lost touch and what about those people who did not say anything but gave you that deadly silent treatment? Do you care about what they think of you? I think you do! You need to read this and meditate on it. I need to remind myself of these things as well. I hope that this article will give both my readers and myself a better perspective on things that are going on right now, especially is this is a difficult period for you.

Have you ever felt like running naked in the street? I definitely have! I don’t care if you think I have psychological problems because I felt that way. No! I am a sane person but I am also a human being. A lot of what we have to do in life is simply an act. Many of us are forced to put on some kind of straight jacket and do a performance for our fellow man. Aren’t you tired at times of all the nonsense you have to go through in order to please people? This nonsense is like putting on too many clothes. The more you have to pretend that you are something that you are not, the heavier your clothes become. The nonsense can become so intense over a such a long period of time that you no longer know who you are or what you even looked like originally. You don’t know which clothes belong to you and which clothes don’t. You feel that the clothes are suffocating you and your movements are always hindered. The only choice you have at this point might be to take off all your clothes and expose your naked body to the world. At the same time you might want to protest loudly by shouting over and over again “I don’t care what any of you think anymore!” Don’t you think that these are liberating thoughts? Well, I have had them and it did me a world of good!

WORDS CAN IMPRISON PEOPLE

When I was a student, one of my teachers told me that I would never amount to anything. He did not use those exact words but that is what he meant. I have never forgotten what he said but I did not know at the time that he was actually trying to imprison me in some way. Some of us have had people do some pretty nasty things to us in our lives but I think one of the nastiest things is to judge someone and make a prediction that they are going to fail. These kinds of evil deeds are very subtle and most of us don’t know when it is happening. Some times people fail, simply because someone has made them fail through their words. Words can be very powerful because they can build someone up or destroy them. It is not the “exact” words that either deliver a healing touch or an evil blow. No! It is the spirit of the person behind those words. Communication is a impartation of attitude and if you are spiritually sensitive you ought to be able to tell when something is wrong, even though it appears so right to you and everyone else. So, what has this got to do with clothes?

CLOTHES ARE PUT ON FOR APPEARANCE

Someone has told a young man that he is never going to amount to anything. How is he going to react? Maybe he can resist it and spend the rest of his life trying to prove that other man wrong. Can’t you see how subtle the imprisonment is? If you do this, you are no longer living for yourself but wasting your time trying to prove something to someone who you don’t even like anyway. Why do you need his approval? Why do you care about what he thinks? Let go of it my friend! Strip naked in front of your mirror, your wife or your best friend and tell them “this is who I am and I am not ashamed!” I am sorry that in most countries we can’t legally do this on the street so we have to settle for the next best thing.

WHEN WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE WE ARE ACTUALLY WINNING

I don’t care who reads this. I am actually writing this for myself as well. I feel that writing this way can be a form of release for me. Right now I have so many things to live up to. I am far more successful than I was many years ago and I feel my responsibilities are very great. I feel that certain people are expecting me to maintain my position in the food chain and become even more successful. It is as if I am not allowed to fail. To me, this is also a kind of imprisonment. I am going to try to strip naked over the next few days and shed some skin. I want to lighten my burden, take off the clothes that are suffocating me. How can I get back that feeling of being in a place where I have nothing to lose? I want to find that place again because I feel I am wearing far too many clothes right now.

From geeky to sleek, it amazes me how the perception of glasses have changed.

I remember in 8th grade when I could not read the board for a test and had to get glasses how awkward I felt. The styles of glasses in the 80’s weren’t so stylish and cool. The perceptions of who wore glasses weren’t the popular kids. Models weren’t doing commercials on TV with them on like they do now. The perceptions of people wearing glasses were that they were nerds or geeks. It was like you were behind a glass wall all the time looking in. Other junior high students ignored you from only a few feet over. I remember popular girls flirting with popular guys right in front of me without so much as a ” hi” to me in science class.

Then in 2005, I noticed changes in who was wearing glasses in commercials and in movies. Glasses were being worn by famous actors, actresses, singers, and models. Wow what a change. Even my 11 year old niece’s friend who had 20/20 vision wanted glasses. I thought to myself,” are you nuts?” She went on and on about how cool they were and asked to try on my glasses. I let her for a quick, hot second and then warned her to not try on glasses when she didn’t need any.

She said glasses were so cool and as I started to watch TV and movies, she was right. More and more young actresses were using glasses for fashion sense as well as to appearing mysterious. From over 20 years now from 1985-2005, geeks and nerds are seen in a much different way thanks to millionaires Bill Gates, and other celebrities like Tara Reid in the picture below.

I myself am glad to be a nerd. I am glad I was a studious bookworm my whole life. Trying to be something I wasn’t was such a struggle and in my late 30’s now I hope to pass on to my kids to just be themselves. It comes naturally. When you know who you are it’s so much easier to have fun, make friends, and tell who aren’t your friends. So yes, I wear glasses and proud of it.

The masters who taught us to follow our mentors have forgot that every one in this world is with some specific talents and with specific mission.

In case of any unparallel situation always try to consider like this that there never has been nor will there ever be anyone else exactly like you and assure yourself that being yourself is more important than anything else; and you will be able to sidestep the very commonly prevalent fear or pressure that traps us into blind conformity. According to psychologist Rollo May, the opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice; it is conformity.

From the very beginning, even from the montessori classes, we have all been taught to measure ourselves against the example of our teacher, parents or some great human beings. The masters who taught us to follow our mentors have forgot that every one in this world is with some specific talents and with specific mission. They should inspire us to do like them and in this process we should not become so obsessed with the need to live like that great human being or some body else.

Each of us is born into a specific time and place with a unique combination of certain planets makes us totally unique in every talent and potential to do things and with specific mission in life. Always try to be inspired by someone and learn from them and don’t try to do exactly like them. By doing the copy we could not take their boot but in this process lost our own personal qualities and personal limitations.

Letting go, living life, and falling in love. It can happen to anyone if they just open themselves to the possibility.

Haven’t blogged in a while but that doesn’t mean I have thought any less about life or love for that matter. I have been consumed lately with so much of life and not all good but wishing it was better. I feel lost some days, alone in the world with nothing and no one. I sometimes wonder how I got so lost and if I might ever find my way back to ME. Then I wonder what ME is because I don’t even think I remember. Was it when I was five and thought about being a dancer or a writer or a biologist? Was it when I was sixteen and had my first serious life injury wondering if that would change my future or shape who I was going to be? I think that each of those things shaped me in one way or another. Sometimes I wonder if certain things in my life would not have happened would I be a totally different person. I know that everyone in our lives that we come in contact with shape our lives in one way or another just like we shape their lives whether negative or positive I wouldn’t know because sometimes we are in their lives or they are in ours for only a short moment. Sometimes we can’t even remember those people. I remember each one though. Surprisingly I still look back and recall how each one of those people made some sort of impact on me and yes some of it was negative but in some cases it made me stronger.

Some people have had tragedy and people in their lives that have made a negative impact and they have no desire to look at the bright side of things but rather focus on the negative of the matter. This in turn leads to what I would call the “blame game”. No one wants to take responsibility for their own lives or how they turned out, they just want to blame it on someone who happened into their lives. They don’t understand that they are the ones that let them in. That is why we are so afraid to live, love, laugh, and let people into our lives. We are so afraid of how they are going to impact us that we refuse to give them a chance, we are so afraid of change. It hurts us to smile and be happy for once without the thoughts of getting hurt creeping in.

I don’t know, just thought I would put this out there. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one that feels this way and thinks this way. I know sometimes I don’t let people in because of that. Other times I am just so focused on other things that I don’t see that people are trying to get in. It is exhausting, I know, just living life from day-to-day. I believe though that if we just let life happen, and laugh once in a while, love will find and embrace us.

You’ve only got one life. You cannot afford to waste your time on something that doesn’t make you happy. Find out what it is that makes you happy, and then go and do it.

For a long time I had been guilty of living by other people’s rules. I had allowed my friends to make decisions for me; I thought that if I went out of my way to help other people, they would be my friends. I was told by preachers and various “authority figures” that if I led a certain lifestyle, I would be happy and “go to heaven.” I started leading an almost monastic life avoiding sin, and driving myself nuts trying to stay pure, but I noticed I only was getting worse.

I was constantly under pressure to behave in a certain way, and when I deviated somehow from the conduct I was expected to keep, people judged me severely.

This had been going on for some time, and then it hit me – that’s not for me and ain’t worth it. There should be limits to everything, even to religion. Don’t you notice people constantly use religion to justify their stupidity? For example, they are ready to stay in an abusive relationship, because the church forbids divorce, etc.

I was blinded by all those notions of Christianity that made you feel controlled, confined and guilty. It was not only until one extremely kind person helped me see that God is all about love, and not about punishment. I was reluctant to let go of the old stereotypes at first, but let myself do it. Perhaps, by this person’s prayers I began to realize that it has never been God’s intention to persecute me for my wrongs, and that any religious organization that tries to convince you otherwise, is all about power, but surely not about love. Besides, I have noticed behind the complicated rituals and dogmas, Jesus Christ is often forgotten, when He should always come first. I was lucky and somehow found the strength to break those ties that made me feel rejected and not wanted. I understood that form of religious worship was not for me, where you constantly depended on others whenever you needed to make a decision, and I have stopped associating with people that had a tendency to make me feel small.

I found myself, and what I like to do. I love God, and I do my best to learn more of Him from the Bible, and it gives me the ability to experience the Lord’s love more fully. I love spending time with my family and friends, with my real friends, and not the jerks I used to count my friends; I love studying, and I do it for myself; I also love writing, and that’s what I am doing on the net, earning money at the same time. I like reading and watching TV shows that are fun, I don’t want to think that everything around me is evil, like they made me believe… I like to help people, and that’s what I do when I give to the poor, or answer questions on yahoo answers.

Find yourself, open your eyes and see… the world is not always what they may be telling you it is.

The secret to real and lasting happiness is to be yourself.

I have always wanted to be someone else. Someone like Emma Watson, or Nicole Kidman. I wanted to be an actress, famous and cool, to have lots of friends and money.

Well, in reality I am nothing like that. I am not an actress, I am more of a writer. I might not be famous and cool but I have my own interests – reading 18th and 19th century books, learning French, music, and discovering Botany. I only have a couple of friends, and might not be the richest person in the world; I’m just a typical middle class girl.

And guess what, that’s ok.

We all want to be someone else at times. I used to defy my boundaries, hating my circumstances and being constantly irritated because I didn’t live up to my imaginary standards until I realized that nobody benefits from my attitude, least of all me. I’ve been thinking about it and I have come to the conclusion that every time I have tried being somebody else I only inflicted some form of suffering upon myself. I could forget sometimes that I am a Christian, for instance, and bowl someone out for nothing, only to feel bad about myself afterwards. The same thing goes for everything I ever do that I know is wrong, or simply not for me.

Like most people I often tend to think that the grass is greener elsewhere and that if only I could shake off those responsibilities, ignore those boundaries, I would be truly and really happy. Well, it doesn’t work that way.

I might think that I would be happier if I were Emma Watson, but in reality I am the happiest ever when I’m just being me. Reading my books, doing my job, hanging out with my friends.

We might be mistaken when we think we know who we are, and if the road we are on is not leading us to happiness, then perhaps we should take a different route.

Being our highest selves – that’s what our goal should be.

Being less than we are will not make us happy, and ignoring the moral values will destroy us in the end. While we are free to be whoever we want to be, not everything that we want would be good for us.

Beauty, be yourself.

What is the reason for the obsession of looking younger? Not only is the television full of commercials with weight loss crap about every commercial it’s full of anti-aging crap as well. I was watching one of my favorite shows, Law and Order Special Victims Unit and one of the commercials showed a new lipstick that has an anti-aging serum in it. I wanted to chuck my television out my dorm room window. It’s ridiculous! Whatever happened to just a simple lipstick? Just a simple lotion? Shampoo?

Why must people continue to strive for FAKE beauty? It makes me angry. I’ve had this continuous thought going on in my mind and every time I see a weight loss or anti-aging commercial I want to create a magazine that shows everyone it’s all right to be who you are. You can be beautiful without make-up, anti-aging serum, and the newest hip or “fad” clothes that the celebrities wear. It’s a matter of being you! Yes, I’m talking about a cliche, but it’s one of the cliches that needs to be taught.

I really wish I could start this magazine. I’m sure there are some out there who have tried to instill this idea but I haven’t really seen any. I’m talking about a magazine with pictures of people who are not models. For instance, my pictures would look as if the person took the picture themselves or with friends. Much like photos you could find on Face Book or MySpace. It’s a matter of showing people that the way you are is beautiful. I really hate this FAKE beauty floating around or should I say the one thing that truly rules our society/media.

I hate the image it projects and I wish I knew what steps could be taken to change it. You know the one example I found that actually surprises me is that the USA Network has a couple commercials in which they have their actors expressing something of their life and each one is different. They also have one of real-life people who are Mexican, American and a bunch of others. The most prominent one that sticks in my mind is the middle Eastern looking man who says, “I have never been a taxi driver.” And another guy who looks the same and he says, “I have never worked in a convenient store.”

It makes me smile each time I see it because it’s a commercial asking to join hands with everyone and tolerate our differences. I just wish that people understood that you are beautiful as you are man or woman. It doesn’t matter. I should probably end this here because I’m just blowing smoke and repeating myself. This goes through people’s ears and out the other. At least I’m trying to spread some love and tolerance.

But I still can’t figure it out. What is the reason?

Its what we live for. The perfect lie. The lie no one is aware of . The want, the need to be perfect, to seem perfect, to do anything just to fit the standards of perfection. But listen to what I have to say before you go and get liposuction, or those breast implants you think will get the attention you desire. Think, is it really worth it?

Yeah, attention from the opposite sex might improve a lot, and your confidence may increase, but think about it. Why do you have to get surgery just to get these? Shouldn’t beauty come naturally, not with money attached to it.

So before you set that appointment that will cost you what you could use for your education, a better home, car, life, remember you can’t buy beauty, its comes from inside of you.
