Berlin Wall’s 50th year marked.

Start of construction of the Berlin Wall took place the night of 12 to 13 August, the boundary between the Soviet sector and other sectors was barred Western and East German authorities began building a wall with barbed wire. Physical barrier divided the city and encircled West Berlin. During the construction of the National People’s Army soldiers and battle groups of the working class have left the area with clear orders to shoot anyone who tried to flee west.

On August 13, 1961 East German soldiers lie in the center of Berlin entire kilometers of barbed wire, with the aim of ending the massive exodus of East Germans fleeing in a number of increasingly large communist regime, and a few days will be erected a wall that will be constantly supervised, reinforced and strengthened by a system of checkpoints and Mirador. Soon, families and friends are separated by a wall, and the former capital of the Reich is halved by a line that can not be crossed and his hands holding the fate of millions of people.

The "Great Wall of Market Street," which was built in downtown Dayton around the time of the Berlin Wall in the early 1960s, is down and Lannie Wood sees only good things ahead.
