<p>For an 8-hour- per-day-5-day-per-week job, I would assume that 30% of the entire time is spent on non-work related matters. In that case we are only 70% efficient in our job. Assuming this assumption is true, we are therefore at least 60% inefficient with the time we have in life. That was shocking. Whether it&rsquo;s true or not, the whole point is that we have not utilized much of our resources to become really productive in our entire lifetime.</p>

<p>30%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; -&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; sleep/rest</p>
<p>6%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; -&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; others</p>
<p>Assuming the remaining 6% of our time is another productive time, it&rsquo;s still not enough to be just 36% efficient. (In engineering economics, productive and efficient are two different things. In this discussion, please allow me to use both interchangeably to mean the same thing.) Knowing how much time we have wasted in our lifetime, it would be better to change our ways and means by doing new things that contribute to making the most of our time.</p>
<p>Here are 10 of the best ways to make the most of our life:</p>
<p>1. Reduce TV time. These Facebook-ruled days, reduce your social networking time.</p>
<p>2. Read more books especially those that help you acquire not just fortune but also wisdom.</p>
<p>3. Try doing business or any investment. Money isn&rsquo;t the root of all evil, it&rsquo;s being greedy. You have more opportunities if you have more money. Just don&rsquo;t forget to use it for good.</p>
<p>4. Spend more time honing your craft.</p>
<p>5. Set you goals and achieve them one by one.</p>
<p>6. As much as possible, avoid listening to negative comments of other people. Without you knowing, those things affect your ways of thinking. Once the mind is disrupted, you would have the difficulty on doing the things that you are supposed to be doing.</p>
<p>7. Learn new things.</p>
<p>8. Avoid procrastination. If you have things to do, don&rsquo;t waste another day to do it.</p>

Well, according to a new study in psychology,  purchasing on life&rsquo;s experiences instead of material belongings brings  greater happiness and satisfaction both for the buyer and people  surrounding them.  </p>
<p> The study  also shows that experiential acquisitions, like theater or concert  tickets, dinner night-outs or vacations, result in improved wellness  since they fulfill upper order needs, more so in the arena of  relationships, social networking and vivacity&#8212;the spirit of being  energized.  </p>
<p> The <a href="http://authspot.com/thoughts/how-to-be-a-happy-person/" target="_blank">participants</a>&rsquo; result signifies that experiences bring greater  happiness in spite of the buyer&rsquo;s income or the amount spent. In  addition, experiences not only provide greater happiness, but also  direct to long-term fulfillment. <p><strong>In each and every day you need to think about what it is that you can do, in that day, to make a slight or maybe even a significant change in the way that you live.</strong></p>
<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p><strong>Each individual improvement will be a step forward and the more steps that you take the more confidence you will gain. Yes there will be days when you may not be able to instantly think of anything that you can do.</strong></p>
<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p><strong>But just by spending time thinking about what things may progress your life is positive enough in itself. And you never know you may well start a train of thoughts that eventually brings an idea that will impact your life.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Before you fall asleep at night give yourself just ten minutes of private thinking time. Reflect on the day that you have just had and think about the next day that will be soon arriving.</strong></p>

<p><strong>While you reflect be proud of all the little things that you have achieved in the day and let them motivate you to think about new achievements for the following day.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Fall asleep with one thought in your mind, either a definite plan of action for the next day that you will start to implement when you wake up or a determination to think of something as quickly as possible after you wake.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Have increased confidence in your ability to make even more forward progress in your life. Constantly be self motivated about what you can do. And just remember it is only your own ability to imagine your future which will be holding you back if you can&rsquo;t think of anything.</strong></p>

<p><strong>You will find that as each day goes by and you more and more progress your life you will find it easier and easier to think of more things that you can do to change your world one day at a time.</strong></p>

<p><strong>You deserve to have a better life and by improving it bit by bit in every day you will soon arrive at that better life destination.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How often have you actually felt really happy within the last year? Or the last ten years? Or in your whole life? Or let&#8217;s ask another question: How many people do you actually know that you would deem to be happy?</p>
<p>So sparing you the answers to that what could you then do to change that? Because actually thinking of it: Becoming happy that is probably one aspiration in life that is underlying many of the things we do and that most of us- never mind social status, level of education, age or money in the bank have in common. We usually think something prevents us from becoming happy and if we would overcome this we then would be happy but is that right?</p>
<p>Let us have a look at that:: Often probably people think that if they were rich they would be happy so one of the reason they are not as happy as they could be is because they do not have enough money. So just think of some of the rich people you know from the tabloids and then think how many of them would you deem happy? They ones that are are probably happy despite their money and not because of it!</p>
<p>Or let&rsquo;s take another classic: Your partner is preventing you from becoming happy! I guess as some point that thought crosses everybody&rsquo;s mind&hellip;.However ask yourself what would be different with another partner?</p>
<p>So how then after all can we become happier in the shortest amount of time?</p>
<p><strong>1) What you have is enough!&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>How often do we think of what we do not have? We need this and we need that&hellip;our neighbour has a bigger car so we need that as well. My boss has a great leather jacket so I would actually also like to have that. My colleague just got another salary increase (unjustified of course&hellip;) so I should be long due for one as well! And now compare to that how much time you spend on thinking what you actually have already got! Well, you have one car. That&rsquo;s fantastic, many people can not even afford that. And you have a salary&hellip;how many people had to loose their job in the recent climate. You need this super-special pair of trousers that would cost you have your month&rsquo;s budget? Why not go for a cheaper option and be happy to be able to afford that at all! You are healthy? Well that&rsquo;s a reason to celebrate everyday, because there are enough people that aren&rsquo;t. Unfortunately it is human nature that we can often just value something once we have lost it. So start thinking about what you have while you still have it &ndash; it will make a big change!</p>
<p><strong>2) It is your life!&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>My parents always told me to do this so that is the reason why I act in this way&hellip;I got into this job some years ago and now I am stuck already since a while but it gets me depressed everyday&hellip;.I hate living in this town but there is no way I could live somewhere else and move away from here&hellip;</p>
<p>It is all right but at the end of the day you have to options: Either you sort yourself out and accept things as they are and be happy with that or you change it! It is your life, you have the responsibility and the power to change it. It might take a while and if you are honest with yourself you could actually change it. So if for some reasons you do not change things than it is maybe worth thinking about why you do not change it and if you come to the conclusion that overall you actually do not really want to change it: Then why not be happy with things as they are???</p>
<p><strong>3) Do not fear change!&nbsp; </strong>If however you want to change something then why not? First of all because we all fear change. Because that means going from a state, situation, relationship, location, environment, place of employment, group of people to something else we do not know yet. We might have all kinds of preconceptions but it still might be different to reality. A thought that might help you here is:</p>
<p><strong>4) All stability is an illusion!&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>Life is not stable. It is changing all the time. The people around us change, jobs, locations everything and if look back at your life you will see that it is a history of changes. Also you change all the time with your values, ideas, concepts, likes and dislikes sometimes faster sometimes slower. It is just very difficult to observe your own development because you are in the midst of it. However if you look back ten years I am sure you will agree. And at any given moment as a matter of fact we can loose everything we have so why not celebrate it as long as it is there?</p>
<p><strong>5) Be positive!&nbsp; </strong>Well, everybody says that. But it is a real skill, I found out. How often do we sit with colleagues and have a good moan? And how often do we sit and appreciate the positives about a person, organization, topic? You will probably agree that in everyday life the negatives in usual conversations like that outweigh the positives. Unfortunately we need to make a conscious effort to balance this: I would propose five minutes in the evening when you take an issue or a person that in that day you could not find much good about and make the point to think of the positives of that person or topic. You will find some! And doing that regularly will open completely new viewpoints to you and perspectives on things and people you have not seen before. It won&rsquo;t hurt to try it out, will it?</p>
<p><strong>6) Appreciate yourself!&nbsp; </strong>Try also to find out the good stuff about yourself! There is a lot &#8211; so recognize it and bring it to your consciousness. You could maybe even do a list. Usually we spend our days with thinking: we did this here wrong and this there? Why not rather or at least as well take the time to acknowledge your own successes- as small as they might have been. A good and satisfying conversation here, a kind gesture there&hellip;You will find loads!</p>
<p><strong>7) Have you ideals but do not get frustrated if you do not reach them!&nbsp; </strong>That is what ideals are for! It is good and healthy to have ideals, about how you want to be, what you want to achieve in life, how the world around you should be. However many of our ideals we will never really achieve. So, that&rsquo;s a fact. Accept that first of all and start from there. Ok you will never achieve that one but how could you still continue to work towards it? No matter how far you get, every step forward is a success!</p>
<p><strong> <img src='http://socyberty.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> A lost battle is not a lost war!&nbsp; </strong>Now that&rsquo;s an old one. However in daily practice it still is difficult. You completely screwed this presentation up again, you absolutely said the wrong things in that date (again..!) and you just got into an argument with you mother again although you seriously promised yourself that this time she would not be able to wind you up! So what are you going to do about it (Looser, failure etc&hellip;) Exactly, nothing! Look at what out of all the things that went wrong went the best and then try again next time. Do not give up and sometimes it is just little steps and you will never get it perfect and you also do not have to get it perfect. You get it as good as you get it and that&rsquo;s fantastic!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So if you try these things out I guarantee you you will lead a happier life. If you try starting today I am sure you will lead a happier life within a month. However some people (like me) take actually a life-time on this way, but, you know, it is more about the way then getting there- and that is already pretty happy. Actually I suspect that nobody can actually really say that he got there&hellip;if you got there anyway: Let me know!</p>
