Sometimes I feel ignorance is bliss in certain matters. You know sometimes, the more we read, the more we get confused. Half knowledge is certainly more dangerous than ignorance. Nevertheless we can get clear knowledge about a subject after going through all the confusions, just like the agitated water becomes clear after sometime provided we think about the subject a little deeper. I have been having this confusion, whether we should have the desires or should not have the desires to be successful in life. I think I somehow got the right answer after giving the subject a clear thinking, at least that’s what I believe. Please keep reading…..

Desire or no desire? As you all know Buddha says that “desire” is the cause for all the worldly sorrows. And the great Bhagavad Gita says we should eliminate all the desires. Well, what do the modern self-improvement books say to become successful in life? Napoleon Hill says one should have a burning desire to succeed in life. Kopmeyer and all other self-development books recommend the same thing-have a burning desire; work hard with determination, perseverance and perfection. Which one should we follow? Should we go with the modern self-development gurus? Or the Bhagavad Gita? That’s a million dollar question, isn’t it?

Image via Wikipedia

Bhagavad Gita on desires: Yes, the Bhagavad Gita says that we should get rid of desires. Here many of us misunderstand that Gita is against possessing wealth, money or enjoying married life. No, not at all. What Gita says is, we should not get carried away by the desires. For example, if you want to win the Wimbledon finals, you should not think too much about the title and go on playing your natural game with passion, interest and utmost perfection. Title will come to you automatically.

The life recommended by the Gita: Everyone has some special skill or talent. If you are good at singing, I am sure you will have a passion for singing. You need to choose it as your profession and keep on singing with passion and perfection without bothering much about the rewards. You may or may not get the rewards you deserve, never mind and keep on singing that’s your duty after all. Take success and failure equal and never get carried away by them. Needless to say you will come up in life with flying colors.

What do the modern self-development gurus say? If you read carefully the modern self-development books, say the books of Napoleon Hill or Kopmeyer, you will understand that they all are recommending some of the techniques that Gita advocated 5000 years ago.

Summary: According to Bhagavad Gita, we should not have desires. We need to keep on doing our duties with passion and perfection without bothering much about the outcome of our efforts. Failures and successes should not influence us. In other words, you have to keep on doing your duties with a kind of detached attachment. Thanks for reading.

How did Nazi Germany obtain their sudden and unheard-of phenomenal technology originate from? Where did Hitler’s obsession come from to seek out super technology? Some believe the answers can be found in ancient historical texts that describe fantastic weapons and technology that some had longed believed to be merely fairy tales. Other researchers claim a more bizarre combination of supernatural aspects involving Hitler’s obsession with technology.

Image via Wikipedia

During the course World War II was a pivotal time in human history in the 20th century due to the fact that one single country was on the verge of world domination. German scientists working under Hitler’s rule since 1933 were developing the most sophisticated weapons and flying craft ever seen in history. But is this statement really true? Where did Nazi Germany gain such formidable technology in the first place? Adolph Hitler was obsessed with achieving advanced technology anyway possible to make his Third Reich last 1000 years. Hitler revitalized Germany by expanding its infrastructure and created an industrialized nation gaining growth and wealth never seen before in history in such a short period of time.

Nazi Germany was influenced by several occultists groups that were prevalent at that time and many of these groups spoke about the coming new Messiah that would save Germany, and bring the fledgling country into supremacy. Many of Hitler’s diabolical Nazi party members were said to have been assimilated into these secret organizations like the Thule society and the Vril society. These occult groups believed that Hitler was indeed the chosen one and leader to orchestrate a one Aryan nation that was all-powerful. Hitler had indeed embraced these prophecies from psychic members of these occult groups and believed that he alone could bring about Germany’s glory into world domination and that Hitler would be supreme ruler of the Third Reich.

Hitler was obsessed with symbolism and myths and legends. He used religious symbols for his own twisted purposes like adopting the ancient swastika symbol that meant peace and harmony, but slightly altering it to fit his own purposes. He was a great believer of the supernatural, occultism, fascism, and sought all religious biblical symbols of power and peace such as the search for the Holy Grail and the Spear of Destiny to facilitate his legitimacy and gain spiritual power. He was indeed in search of the Ark of the Covenant, which was told in the Bible to bestow unstoppable power to any army that possessed it. Hitler was convinced that if he had these mythical objects in his possession that no other country could stand up against the Germany war machine effort and his absolute rule.

When Hitler came into power, he sent his top scientists to scour the Earth for any kind of lost technology based on legends and myths. Besides relying upon mediums, psychics, and astrologers Hitler included many references of lost knowledge from the Christian Bible, as well as from ancient Indian Sanskrit. Many historians believe that Nazi Germany’s advance technology is actually based on several lost technologies that originated from two possible sources that German scientists had stumbled upon during the course of Hitler’s regime. Even going so far as to interpret and translate from ancient texts left all over the world that describe very unusual types of technology. In some instances this unheard-of, almost fantasy like technology, were in actuality the basis for antigravity technology and applications for atomic weaponry.

The first obvious source of immense information came from the ancient tales from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita. The second is rumored evidence that Germany came into possession of a crashed UFO in 1936. There are scattered documents and written accounts that both of these key factors are allegedly true from German scientists who were eyewitnesses and participants in achieving the ultimate technology, be it from alien artifacts or ancient lost technology based on ancient writings to be manipulated and used to their vantage. Many in the scientific community today find the latter hard to believe the scientists from the 1930s could efficiently backward engineered alien technology at that time. But let us not forget that this was a country that had created and perfected highly advanced technology that the rest of the world had not developed or even conceived before.

The rise of the Third Reich and Nazi Germany technology was so advanced that if given enough time before they were defeated in World War II, could have reshaped the entire world with dominating technology like jets, rockets, antigravity craft, and a ruthless obsession to cleanse the world with genocidal implementation that some believe the world is already suffering from these leftover technology and concepts from Nazi Germany and Hitler. But given the fact that the Allied forces succeeded and confiscated this technology and the terrible aftermath of the realization of the horror of the Nazi party, has given us a special hindsight and understandable warning that having such awesome power requires having great responsibility and ultimately humanitarian compassion for all living things. Mistakes of the past cannot be rewritten, but should be acknowledged in the present to make a better tomorrow.

Buddha said that desire is the cause of all human sufferings. Desire and attachment are related closely. Bhagavad Gita says that we should live with detached attachment. What is detached attachment? Is it the key to live a worry free life? Please continue reading......

What is attachment?: All human beings live with attachments to their dear ones, money, fame and health. In other words we all want to live with loving our family members, friends and relatives. We want to have a lot of money. We want recognition from the society we are living in.(We can call it as fame) When we don’t get enough love from our dear ones, we are worried. Similarly when we don’t have money worry strikes us badly. If people don’t respect us, we get worried. All our sorrows and sufferings are caused by this attachment. Still, we can’t live without this attachment.

What is detached attachment?: It means that you can have this attachment, but in a different dimension. Let me explain it with an illustration. You want to have a lot of money. How do you get money? You work for someone or have your own business to earn money. Let us say, you have a job. You want to shine well in your career to get money and fame. So you need to work hard to achieve them. You may succeed and make big money and earn reputation. In this case you should not let pride rule you or you should not be over confident thereafter. If you fail, don’t get upset. You have to keep on working hard. This phenomenon is detached attachment.

Detached attachment with your dear ones: How to practice detached attachment with your dear ones? This does not mean you should not love them. You can work hard to make them happy. You deserve love from them. If they love you immensely, well it is good for you but you should not be carried away by it. If they don’t love you back, you should not be upset. You have to accept what destiny has for you. But you can keep on loving them, one day they will definitely return your love. Similarly you can work hard for their good future without getting affected by the positive or negative results.

Fame and health: You work hard to get fame and recognition from the society you are living in. If you get it, well and good. But you should not have pride. If you don’t get the recognition you deserve, you should not be upset. You have to keep on doing your duty well. Similarly you should take good care of your health. If you get health problems, don’t be upset. You should do whatever you can, to get over from the health problems. If your health does not improve, accept the destiny, but never give up your attempts to get over your health problems. You can live with detached attachment in all matters.

Summary: It is easy to say to live with detached attachment but not that easy to practice it in life. But it is not impossible.
Understanding karma helps to accept life as it comes and move forward.

Karma is simply the universal law of cause and effect that says every thought, word and act carries energy into the world and affects our present reality.

Karma means action, but it is also the result of your actions. Karma is the accumulation of past actions. It is the sum of your learning experiences at any point in your life. The law of Karma goes beyond the cause-effect equation of Newton, Action = Reaction, as each action or event is part of a big network of causes and becomes a cause for future reactions or events.

The universe is a dynamic web of interrelated events. The nature of the web is determined by the nature of the constituting parts and their mutual interrelations. Every action, physical, emotional or mental is “seeded” in the cosmic memory (”Akasha”) and leaves an imprint in the individual’s subconscious mind. This subconscious imprint is called samskara. Being a seed, karma does not sprout immediately after it is sown. At the right time, the fruit of the action will “ripen”. Some karmas trigger a very quick reaction, others need a longer time to trigger, and the sequence of the triggered reactions is not necessarily the same as the sequence of the triggering actions.

Karmic results must be stored and cleared out, either good or bad. If there’s a deficit, it must be paid; if it is an asset, it must be reaped. They are never lost, and they transmigrate from one birth to the next, leaving their imprints on our subconscious and giving birth to circumstances similar to those that generated them. In other words, reap as you sow.

Karma comes in various flavors.
    • As the action doesn’t always produce an immediate reaction, the fruits containing the seeds are stored. This is the sanchita (stored) karma. This can spill over into the next life too, and shows itself in the character of a man, in his aptitudes, capacities, inclinations and desires.
    • That portion of the Sanchita Karma which influences human life in the present incarnation is called Prarabdha. Prarabdha karma is the past karma that is responsible for the present body and must be worked out in the present life.
   • Kriyamana Karma: daily, instant karma created in this life that is worked off immediately. These are debts that are created and repaid immediately.

Karma is not vindictive, but a great teacher. Karma is intended to be “educational”, in which you are assigned karmas as lessons from which to learn. Or you may even, if you evolve to a certain point as a being, you may choose certain conditions yourself as a means of learning. We are all here to learn lessons as spiritual beings and the lessons help us grow into greater levels of love, tolerance, forgiveness and responsibility.

Law of Karma neither preaches fatalism nor tells you not to exercise free will. Even though free will depend on karma, you can still exert free will and make intelligent choices in life. Even if a particular situation is the result of “bad” karma and you have to suffer the reactions, how you choose to react to the situation is your free will, and the choices you make in dealing with it can make a big difference to how these reactions will manifest. Thus the human beings build their own destiny through their actions, thoughts and intentions. With our conscious and subconscious mind and belief system, we create the “reality” in which we live, manifesting that enigmatic power called maya shakti, through which we see the world not the way it is, but the way we want it, consciously or otherwise. Everybody gets exactly what they deserve. There is a perfect justice, even when our limited human understanding fails to see it so.

Generally speaking, the ordinary human being supports passively and unconsciously the consequences of his karmas. In this state of consciousness, he/she unconsciously generates other karmas, which trigger corresponding reactions, and so on. Apparently, this vicious circle has no end. Thankfully, the Yoga tradition puts forth clearly that the human being has the power and the right to change his destiny and find an exit from this vicious circle.

Krishna, preaching Arjuna, on the mysteries of karma on the battle in Mahabharata

Yoga talks of performing the worldly action with a detached state of mind so that even the action performed becomes non-action and absolves you from its consequences. The term “non-action” refers to action done in a special state of consciousness where you move in harmony with the Cosmic Laws. Bhagavad Gita says that if you perform an action without arrogating to yourself the ownership of the action and consecrating the fruit of the action to the Supreme Being without expecting any reward or result from them, you open yourself toward the Cosmic Harmony and allow the Eternal Consciousness to perform these actions through you as a tool.

You should not refrain from action, but perform nishkama karma – karma done without kama or desire. There is no place for indolence or indifferent work; it is kaizen work. The work you do is a form of meditation and attunes you with the Supreme Being.

To me, the concept of karma can be understood only when you realize that you are a cog in the wheel of life in the universe. Or is it a fly sitting on one of the cogs which can simply sit anywhere on the cog? A fly does its role, and perhaps falls onto other cogs but cannot dictate with any degree of certainty the direction in which the wheel will move. Too many parameters that is outside its manipulation.

The mystery deepens as more ancient cities are discovered around the world show classic signs of destruction by atomic warfare in ancient times. As outlandish as that may sound there is clear evidence to support this fact.

More vitrified ruins can be found in Turkey, the Middle East, parts of Africa, France, and Scotland. In 1850 an American explorer claims to have discovered melted rock remains of an ancient city in California’s Death Valley area. Ancient American Indian lore proclaims the area to be full of underground labyrinths that go on for miles and once inhabited by an unknown race of people. Researchers of ancient atomic warfare also see parallels of Greek mythology and Hindu mythology in regards to weapons of mass destruction described as thunderbolts from the gods and other incinerating weapons that can only be comparable to particle beam weapons, and nuclear weapons.

Ancient cities like Harappa and Kot Diji show signs of radiation poisoning by the soil being covered with radioactive ash from some unknown period in the past. Intense levels of radiation still persist enough to warn against long-term exposure in such areas. Archaeologist from all over the world has been examining these regions in India and Pakistan that show extremely high amounts of radioactivity. Skeletal human remains, fused-walls, and city ruins are all dangerously radioactive to this day and have been exposed to intense heat.

The majority of the skeletal remains found is amazingly intact and lay where they fell. Scientists know that when bodies are exposed to high levels of radiation, the bones of the victims barely decay and are left remaining for thousands of years, and animal scavengers will not touch them at all. The area of devastation and high levels of radiation prevent any disturbance of where the victims lie and are left perfectly preserved.

Most archaeologists investigating these unusual ruins are baffled as to why the inhabitants of theses ancient cities were obviously obliterated by some kind of catastrophe resulting in high doses of radiation. The Indian government has consequently forbid the general public in these areas of unnaturally high amounts of radiation. Archaeologists maintain that most of these cities were built about 4000 years ago, but because of radiation exposure interfering with the carbon dating procedure. The actual construction and destruction of the cities could be perhaps far older, and some scientists speculate, at least up to 12,000 years ago is probable.

Is it really possible that the sacred Hindu scripture The Bhagavad Gita and the Bible contain not merely just fanciful stories, myths and legends, but in actuality, real recorded events that actually happened in human history? By studying Homer’s epic poems the Iliad and the Odyssey, archaeologist and historians have already successfully interpreted clues and geographical descriptions to locate the lost city of Troy as mentioned in the Trojan War roughly 3000 years ago to be found in what is now modern-day Turkey.

There are some startling clues around the world that corroborate that the Earth might have been in some kind of earlier nuclear war that coincidentally is described in The Bhagavad Gita ancient Hindu Scripture.

Evidence have been discovered that there might have been some kind of nuclear war that occurred thousands of years ago, before the Dawn of civilization as we know it has today. Incredible, recent discoveries over the last century has produced evidence and locations around the world to clearly show signs of some kind of atomic catastrophe occurring in those places that somehow happened thousands of years ago, before the discovery of atomic energy. How is this possible?

Back in 1979 David William Davenport, a British researcher and expert in ancient Sanskrit, wrote his astonishing book Atomic Destruction in 2000 BC. Davenport studied for years the Hindu scripture the Mahabharata that described cities that were completely destroyed by some kind of all powerful weapon. His investigation leads him to the ruin city Mohenjo Daro, also known as the Mound of the Dead, located today in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Mohenjo Daro was constructed over 4000 years ago and is known as one of the oldest cities ever built. Archaeological remains of the city were rediscovered in 1922 by the Archaeological Survey of India and beginning in the 1930’s a massive excavation period began continuing again in the 1960’s, and 1980’s as further surveys investigated this ancient civilization.

Davenport was born and raised in India and was obsessed with translating the Indian Sanskrit into English and interpreting the philosophical meaning and historical facts retained in its pages correctly. Davenport‘s ultimate hypothesis and discoveries found at Mohenjo Daro were astonishing in that he concluded the city was destroyed by some kind of ancient atomic blast. Davenport states examples of different types of degree of devastation that occurred at Mohenjo Daro.

Davenport discovered a radius of 1.5 km of damaged which spreads from the center outwards, indicating a massive amount of intense heat unleashed a total destructive force. Archaeologists and Davenport have discovered bricks, walls, fused rocks, that had been melted, and “black stones” are the remains of ceramic vessels that have melted into one another by some brief intensive heat reaching over 2000°C. Davenport located an actual epicenter of all this destruction and found within this area were crystallized fused rock and looked very similar to what you find in the after affects of an atomic blast, much like what is discovered at the Nevada Test Site during their atomic blasting in the 1950s in which vitrification occurred from the melting of rock and sand so fast that it cools and looks like glass.

What are most disturbing are the remains of the inhabitants that were discovered in 1927. Found in the suburbs of Mohenjo Daro lay skeletons of people who were lying flat on the ground dead apparently oblivious to the impending doom that was coming for them as some were still holding hands when they were all suddenly overcome by some unexpected cataclysm. The skeletal remains are in remarkable conditions and have never been disturbed, and show high levels of radiation exposure. Could this be evidence that the city Mohenjo Daro and its inhabitants are victims of an atomic blast from a war happening thousands of years ago?

Davenport and other researchers investigating the ancient Hindu Sanskrit in great detail believe so. They ascertain that the information described in the Mahabharata is so compelling with historical and philosophical information that dates back before the Christian Bible is worth further investigation and interpretation. What reads as science fiction and fairytales in the Hindu Sanskrit may actually have some bases in truth.

Image via Wikipedia

Researchers of ancient Sanskrit literature and theologist point out the fact that with better technology today we have been able to interpret and corroborate events that happened in not only the Bible, but the events that happened in the Mahabharata as well. Information obtain in ancient writing is not only relevant today philosophically and spiritually, but perhaps contains a lost technology that somehow the ancients had knowledge of that we are now just starting to develop and understand.

Does the holidays mean going broke. Shopping and shopping.

What do the holidays mean to you?

I ask this question every October, November, December and January and of course April of every year.

People are so excited about these holidays I am writing today to get some things off my chest.

People seem to think if you do not agree with a holiday you hate god. God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son.

These holidays are man made and not Christ made. Yes I said Christ made. I just wish that Jesus would come back and clean up this messy world we live in. We as people are so dumb by our own neglect that we seem to focus on gifts then the meaning behind every holiday we go out our ways for to enjoy the day.

Life normally will go on if you buy that present or not. Life is what you make it not what type of item you buy. People will go broke to buy that expensive gift. Why not give back to your community why not build more affordable homes. Why not build and start a new business.

Why don’t we all go green and have farms to live off. Each month should be a focused on building better families. We all work or I hope we all work but do we work on saving our families. Do we have so many people out here telling us how to live our life then we forget there is a god who controls all things.

Instead of saying merry Christmas let’s try merry life.

Instead of saying happy holidays let’s try happy families.

These holiday that are celebrated are man made and once again I will say it not Christ made.

Read your Analects, Your Bhagavad Gita, Five Classics, and Bible, read your Koran. Holy books, Talmud, Tao-te-ching, Upanishads, Veda

I want someone to show me where it says, you should celebrate Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas, New years and every other holiday that man has made.

I think the bible states something like as for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who stays away from passing judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his or her mind what is correct and what is in correct.

So if the words of the bible are correct then one person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Should we not value every day as greater then the next day. I think the only days that should be held so high is Christmas for the birth and April as the rising.

I can work with the fact every New Year there should be a celebrating it’s the starting of the new and get rid of the old.

I can understand birth and death celebrations but I cannot understand man made holidays.

I think my god only gave a set of holy days and I can understand those days perfect,

If you read your bible let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days.

If you read your bible there is some passage that says; So if somebody chooses to keep Passover, or chooses not to keep Passover, I am not to judge him. If someone celebrates some type of man made holiday, or chooses not to, I am not to judge him. If he demands that I celebrate them, then he is wrong, based on the same scripture. But if he chooses to celebrate on his own, that has nothing to do with me;

Now the person name me is Jesus.

For the same token we can speak about the fact that the bible was man made and if you knew your history it’s a count of times of history.

From the eyes of other people who wrote this information in stone. But if these people were the eyes did they not celebrate a holiday.

Generation to generation information came from and we as believers in Christ adapt to reading the bible and studying the bible to get a closer understanding of god’s messages.

I am interested in someone finding the lost books of the bible, such as the Book of the Wars of the Lord.

Why history is so important and why writing your life down on paper is important because its permanent understand of who you are and what type of life was before your children’s time.

The Torah and Koran are written accounts of Jesus I cannot say one is greater than the other book.

What I chose to say that is two people can look at the sky one person might see clouds while the other person see’s the clouds dancing.

But I can say that each story is of history of the past. Man made holidays should be about bringing more people into a church, bringing more people together. Man made holidays should be about bringing love to someone who does not know how to love and bringing happiness to everyone we meet.

Man made holidays should be about making sure there are no more homeless people. Man made holidays should be about educating our children. Man made holidays should be about opening our hearts and minds to greater things in this world. Man made holidays should be about ending wars and hungry.

Man made holidays should be about uplifting our men and woman to be greater in all things they do. Man made holidays should be better health care.

I say lets start a change in what we celbrate as people of christ and this world.

In the sacred Hindu scripture The Bhagavad Gita describes extraordinary technology in a war that existed between the Rama Empire and Atlantis over 10,000 years ago.

In ancient hieroglyphics from Egypt to India depicts ancient people gazing up at the sky watching other people traveling by hover crafts of some kind and transferring great distance across the Earth. Reports of seeing UFOs in the sky has never been told in such detail as in the ancient Sanskrit writings like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.

The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred Hindu scripture composed of hundreds of versus within the Mahabharata and consider being a very significant text in history of literature and philosophy. The Sanskrit describes a great civilization known as the Rama Empire dating back to 10,000 BC. Further translation of the Sanskrit text reveals a highly advanced civilization and that is surprisingly comparable to our own with modern conveniences. What makes this ancient Hindu scripture so significant and interesting is the fact that it describes not only man-made UFOs, airships, flying cities and fortresses, and perhaps even atomic warfare centuries before the creation of this kind of technology.

When modern researchers read the Bhagavad Gita ancient Indian epic it sounds very much like science fiction having the Gods mastering the land and sky with incredible flying machines and controlling awesome weapons of destruction. When the ancient Indian epic is studied more closely it reveals that the Rama Empire was locked in a war with the inhabitants of Atala also known as Aka or better known today as Atlantis.

What makes the events described in the Mahabharata and Ramayana regarding the Rama Empire war is the fact that it existed simultaneously over 10,000 years ago with the highly developed cultures of Osiris and Atlantis in the West. According to pre-dynastic Egypt records and archaeological evidence the Osirian civilization was located in North Africa and the Mediterranean basin, and many believed it was flooded when Atlantis sank into the ocean. Ancient Egyptian records allude to the existence of an Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean, along with Plato’s writings and descriptions of a great patriarchal continent culture that was extremely technologically advanced.

What is becoming clearer as researchers and theorists study and interpret the Bhagavad Gita is the incredible descriptions of advance knowledge covering enlightened consciousness, tales of wisdom, sophisticated weaponry based on atomic power, and detailed descriptions of mythological flying machines called Vimanas. The ancient Sanskrit epic even hints that the Rama Empire had successfully destroyed numerous ancient civilizations including Atlantis.

But if that’s true, where is the evidence of this? Surprisingly, there are numerous places on the earth that bear a striking resemblance to some kind of ancient atomic warfare. Could there have been a great global war that existed over 12,000 years ago? A war that obliterated all signs of their existence and culture. A war that ultimately set them back into the Stone Age to be forgotten in history except in mythical tales handed down through thousands of generations.

Mainstream scientists are just starting to realize and discover more archaeological anomalies that do not fit in the standard timeline of today regarding an advanced culture of human beings that existed somehow over 10,000 years ago and yet these mysterious almost forgotten, highly sophisticated cultures could build monolithic structures weighing hundreds of tons that we in our modern culture of today cannot replicate even with our most powerful machines.

What is interesting with regards to the events that happened in The Bhagavad Gita was the fact that it was considered simply works of fiction and fantasy. Modern day researchers and scientists have discovered that a lot of the descriptions of flying craft and weapons are very similar to the kind of technology we have today, even in some cases more advanced than our own.

For if you read the ancient Sanskrit epic centuries before today in a time without atomic weapons, modern jets, and computer technology, than the whole Sanskrit epic reads more like a fairytale. Modern scientists have eerily discovered that the advance antigravity machines described in the Bhagavad Gita are technologically correct and feasibly possible to reproduce, and could actually fly as described when the Rama Empire used their flying craft to wage war in the heavens thousands of years ago.

My feelings about war.

Many of us have read the epics Mahabharata and Ramayana. Fewer have read the ” Bhagavad Gita” (yes, I am an Indian). Still, on delving further into the stories, we realize that they would not have been as interesting without any war in them. In the world of literature, wars are a tool by which authors can unleash their creativity and technical skill. A fictional war adds flavor and content to the story the same way salt influences the taste of food.

Let’s come back to the real world. If you were/are a soldier in real life, would you be admiring the scene? Or would you be fighting for your life? Unless you’re an excellent fighter, you’d probably lose that life. Modern-day warfare is like Armageddon compared to the swords and bows of the past. Using nuclear powers and weapons amassed for the so-called safety of the country — any country –, we bomb other nations.

What is war? According to the dictionary, it is a contest between nations carried out by armed forces. According to me, however, it is a pastime of the world’s leaders who can think of no other way to achieve their goal but by killing innocent people.

Through war, cities, farms and factories are destroyed. People go missing or get maimed or killed. Men, women, and children who we’ve never interacted with, who we’ve never been troubled by, are blasted out of the way with the same indifference seen in slapping away a mosquito. People are blind to the problems they create by abandoning the path of logic and reason and turning to violence. Why are we so deluded?

There are people who say that war is the only way to purge out evil, but through bloodshed war becomes a greater evil. Millions of people are slaughtered every year in the name of war. We, as human beings, have failed to maintain world peace.

My final opinion? It is this: unless you are an author/poet facing writer’s block and are in need (desperate need, mind) of a good plot, don’t mess around with war. Oh, if you’re a game developer, forget all of this. Video games these days cannot become hits unless there is blood and gore (but as always, there are exceptions. I apologize to anyone offended). Anyway, war is one of the worst things present in the world right now. It is the mother of all evil, from which all your nightmares spawn. Mua ha haaaa.

What is yoga? How useful is it? Who should practice yoga and who should not? I have many a times stumbled over this ancient Hindu practice and decided to give it a try. Hmmmmmmmmh, it isn't bad at all.

While reading some Hindu classics such as Mahabharata, Upanishads, the Vedas and the Bhagavad-Gita, I came across Yoga, and this became something that I wanted to understand even more. I wanted answers and had to look for them. What is yoga? How is it useful? Should everyone practice this discipline?

What is yoga?

Yoga refers to a meditative discipline that originated from India which involves mental, physical, verbal and spiritual practices. It is one of the six major Hindu schools of thought and has grown from a mere Hindu practice to a worldwide phenomenon that appeals to many. Those who practice it are known as yogi and Shilaho is therefore an example.

Image via Wikipedia

Types of yoga

There are five major types of yoga namely: Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, Raja yoga, Jnana yoga, and Hatha yoga. Even though these types are interrelated, they are in some cases practiced as distinct disciplines.

a) Bhakti yoga – It refers to loving devotion directed towards a personal god. It is well explained in the Hindu philosophical text called Bhagavad-Gita. It encompasses all the major forms of human-human relationships that one may think of.

b) Karma yoga – It refers to the quest for perfection through good actions or deeds. It is also well expressed in the Bhagavad-Gita and partly in the Mahabharata and encompasses the fight for righteous principles.

c) Raja yoga – This one reminds me of my good friend Raj the Tora but has nothing to do with this Hindu herpetologist. It is also referred to as the classical or royal yoga. It preaches liberation of mind and body through meditation.

d) Jnana yoga – It refers to the quest for absolute knowledge of the body as a condition of devotion. It deals with four aspects of salvation, namely: Discrimination, Dispassion, the six virtues (control of the mind, control of the senses, renunciation of non duties, endurance, faith and perfect concentration) and intense longing for liberation from temporary limitations.

e) Hatha yoga – It refers to the physical purification undertaken by yogis in readiness for meditation. It is therefore a preparatory stage for the other types of yoga other than a type in itself.

Why practice yoga?

Yoga is practiced for various purposes.

a) The main reasons are improvement of physical and mental well being

b) Regulate breathing rate

c) Exercise

d) Cure diseases ranging from constipation, cardiovascular diseases as well as cancer

e) Manage anxiety, stress and depression

f) Liberation from all worldly suffering and the cycle of birth and death.

Who should practice yoga?

Yoga is no longer practiced by Hindus alone. Muslims, Christians and Buddhists have invaded this traditional form of Hindu devotion and use it every day for the purposes pointed above. However, there have been injuries reported among yogis that makes children, pregnant women, and other vulnerable groups unsuitable for this kind of practice.
