This is actually the second and second last part of the essay series of teaching methodologies, elaborating some other more modern techniques of improving the process of learning and teaching languages.

There are actually three methods by which a teacher can be able to maintain discipline and put effective teaching:

1. Eye contact:

A teacher can show the students that they are all involved in the lesson.

He/she can assure that students understand what they are supposed to do and what is going on.

He/she can indicate the student (often with a nod of head) who is to speak.

A teacher can encourage the contributions.

A teacher can hold the attention of the students who are not being addressed.

                       He/she can maintain the discipline.

A teacher can signal students to stop, start or get a move on.

A teacher can indicate that something is correct or incorrect.

A teacher can check everybody is contributing.

2. Gestures:

Good use of gestures can be helpful as follows:

Convey the meaning of the language.

To re-in force instructions (manage the class).

                  To add visual interest.

To increase the pace of the lesson.

To reduce the need for verbal explanation.

There are certain ways to use gestures. Some important forms are:

Gestures for listening, repeat in chorus, get into pairs, stop, good, not right, nearly right, unusual idea, identifying a student.

However, gestures can only be used if they are clear in meaning or the meaning has already been established with the students.

3. The Voice:

Voice must have clarity, quality, pitch, range, variety or projection to communicate the ideas or the transfer of knowledge in an understandable way to all the class members.

Voice should be changed according to the situation. The quality and projection of voice is different for younger students and, for a large class and elder students it should be different. This would show that the teacher has the idea about the psyche and personalities and he/she can control and lead the class according to his will. A lesson can be livened up or quietened down by voice alteration. The greater the variation of the voice the greater is the control of the teacher on the students.

In my own experience, all the above mentioned characteristics are helpful in effective teaching, communicating and controlling the class on individual or collective basis. e. g I am senior lecturer in Pharmacology in a medical college. I will have to deal with a class of about 100 students. The problem which I often face is the noise from the student’s side. At that time, I first turn completely to the students (from OHP slides), put my hands on the dice and have a round of the class with my eyes showing that I am trying to locate the student, and, while doing so, I just stop at a student randomly and ask him about the topic or about the previous lecture. The other useful technique is to move round between the rows of students and at that time every student feels that I am observing him. Moreover, the ups and downs of voice help me while making them understand about the different aspects of medicines; where automatically, my voice goes up when I am stressing on important points. Even, sometimes, while I am writing and the students start making noise, just stop writing without turning to them, make them stop as if they might guess that something is going to be happened at that time.

TO UNDERSTAND THE BODY LANGUAGE

You might think that the only things you say are the words that come our of your mouth,

but your body secretly sends messages all the time, too, with little signs and movements.

This is called body language. You may sometimes be aware of what your body is saying,

but most of the time, your body sends the messages without you knowing it. What’s more,

when other people pick up your body’s

messages, they’re not always aware of it either.

A. Secure

Interest: Tilting head

Anticipation: Rubbing Hands

Boredom: Sitting with legs crossed and foot kicking slightly

Trying to make a decision: Stroking chin

Confidence, superiority: Sitting with hands clasped behind head

Impatience: Tapping or drumming fingers

Authoritative: Steepling

Relaxation: Sitting cross-legged

Contemplating: Hand to cheek

Readiness,Aggression: Standing with hands on hips

Insecurity,Nervousness: Biting nails

Rejection,Doubt,Lying: Touching and slightly rubbing nose

Doubt,Disbelief: Rubbing eye

Dejection: Walking with hands in pockets and with hunched shoulders

Lack of self-confidence: Patting or playing with hair

Indecision: Pulling or tugging at ear

Find Out When Couple Are Lying.

He said he would go with her friends, but one of his friends call home to ask how she was. Is he lying? How do you know your partner is lying or not?

If suspicious of their speech that indicates the message is confusing, then it’s time to look for other signs. The most obvious sign is the language of your partner’s body.

Richard Newman, a researcher of body language, shared tips on how to detect lies.

After research in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), he trained more than 6,500 people from 29 countries that successfully use body language and how to read these markers in daily life.

“The best way to uncover whether someone is lying or not is to notice the awkwardness and unfamiliarity,” said Newman.

“In addition to tools that can detect lies, which must be considered is the existence of signs of stress, anxiety, and depressed.”

He suggests you should set a good voice before starting the investigation. “Make sure it fits the facts,” says Newman. “Do not just talk about that are accused, those who want to make you feel comfortable ask first.”

Newman believes it will help identify significant changes in their appearance.

Once you make them comfortable and quiet, then there are signs that you should look for:

Blink. Eye movements that could mean as many signs that can be trusted to know a lie. The average person blinks once every 10 seconds, so if he blinks too often, there are many possibilities that he was thinking (maybe lie) quickly.

The touch of the hand in the face. The higher level of hand gestures around the face, the higher the level of anxiety. “We are naturally designed to prove the truth,” said Newman. So, any way that made her hands to her face, shows the person is trying to cover up lies.

Suddenly quiet or tense. The opposite of his eyes are staring, blank stare response shows also dishonest. It was common for a liar who made a special effort to not move their eyes much to make it look convincing.

You may be suspicious if someone looked very nervous and think that they are lying, but it is a common attitude. Something unusual is to talk to someone who looks like a statue.

Do not approach someone when they are busy, too easy for them to hide their reactions and body language to cover when they’re busy doing the work.

These clues are not going to turn you into a lie detector. But by reading the body language of someone, at least you can get some certainty as being suspicious.

A few months old baby is not yet able to speak, so that one of its communication only through cries and body language.

A few months old baby is not yet able to speak, so that one of its communication only through cries and body language. But parents can learn the baby’s body language to know her wishes.

Babies do have a unique way of communicating with the parents or the people around him. Excerpted from Parenting, Friday (09/07/2010) parents can learn the language of the tiny body, namely:

Kicking his legs

This condition means the baby is fascinated or interested in something, like when he saw something amazing or mecipratkan water in the tub.

Body language can also mean babies reveal the word ‘Wow’. Or it could be your baby wants something more, for example, ask him to play or he wants to move but a narrow place.

The way to respond is to share a passion with him or her lap to play with. Because the kicking leg also helps develop the muscles needed when crawling.

Turned away

This condition can mean the baby needs a little time to find out what happens, especially something that is seen. Or it could be your baby needs time to his personal space.

The way to respond is to just let it check around, even if to see the shadow dicerminnya or it could also give him time to relax. But if the baby is too long away, try to attract attention again.

Rubbed or closing his eyes

This condition could mean he was trying to play ‘peekaboo’ or other games to attract others. Another thing is the baby ready for bed when she felt tired.

The way to respond is by way of responding to his interest to play with, for example by way of throwing light blanket so that he would try to pull the blanket. But if he is sleepy, Hold it as sung or read the short story as she rocked back and forth.

Twisting her hair

This condition could mean he was trying to make himself feel better. In addition repetitive motion can also mean to cover her nervousness, such as any new nanny or a new environment is too noisy for him.

The way to respond is to let it do so, because it’s not a matter that should be prevented. Can also ask to speak with a soothing tone of voice or ask him to play to get over his nervousness.

Baby arching her back

This condition could mean he is angry, cranky, upset with a thing or an illness that can not be expressed.

The way to respond is to try to calm him down, it usually takes more time because the baby is arching her back is the accumulation of discomfort.

If accompanied by other symptoms such as vomiting or fever, then consult a physician in order to avoid misdiagnosis and baby feel comfortable again.

Stretch your arm or hand

This condition means that the baby in a good mood, relaxed and ready to look around, but you should still pay attention to facial expressions.

It also can mean the baby is learning to sit up where he needed something to keep his balance.

The way to respond is if the baby shows the face cheerful, optimistic atmosphere then utilized to provide a positive stimulus. But if he is learning to sit give help when he needs, if it does not need any help let him build his stomach muscles to help him sit upright.

Tugging at her ears

This condition means that he has difficulty in doing something, such as a sign of milk is too hot, stomach bloating or she needs to burp. Other meaning is that he feels uncomfortable due to illness such as ear infections, sore throat or a disturbance in the nose.

The way to respond is to try to calm him down for example by making him burp, if not I also try to close the curtains, move to another room or turn off the television.

In addition, check for other signs that make him uncomfortable, such as checking the ears, nose and throat.

Body Language, The main communication link between people, but the eyes say it all. Linking eye movement with body language begin to give you a great lie detector.

The eye’s tell many things they explain when a person is remembering something and also when a person is inventing something. How does this work.

Lets look at the eyes having six positions

We can not just say a person is telling a lie because of these positions first we need to understand the persons eye patterns. the image above is for a right handed person so for a left handed person these will be reversed.

In business it is very important to understand your client therefore in the initial introduction you need to understand his behavior in relation to gestures and his eye patterns. This is something relatively easy to do.

When two people meet for the first time in business they normally offer each other their business card, The receiver 99% of the time receives the business card with there regular hand ( so a right handed person will receive with their right hand and a left handed person their left hand. After this we should just get to know the person a little bit and not just get right down to business. Asking friendly questions in away to make them feel relaxed is always a good way to see their body language and at the same time to visualize their eye patterns.

At some stage you will have been accused of lying to someone just because you refused to make eye contact with then? Well it’s where you’re looking that gives you away.

we will now look at these give away Glances

To the right- When a persons eyes look to the right, they are constructing an auditory thought. (your left)

Example 1: Tell someone to think of the noise of a train and watch their eyes. They will move to the right as they attempt to listen to the noise of a train in their mind.

Example 2: think of the sound of a jet taking off

Up and to the left- This indicates a visually remembered image. (your right)

Example 1: Ask someone to remember the color of their first car, and watch as their eyes quickly move up and to the left. In their mind, they are visually remembering the color of their first car.

Example 2: What did you wear Last Sunday?

· Up and to the right- This eye movement indicates a visually constructed image. (your left)

Example 1: If you ask someone to picture a ship floating on the ocean, this will be the direction their eyes will move.

Example 2: Picture a giant Ant eating an ice cream

· To the left- Looking to the left is an indication of an auditory memory. (your right)

Example 1: Ask someone to listen to their favorite actor in their mind, and they will look in this direction.

Example 2: Remember the sound of your mother’s voice.

· Down and to the right- Typically this is an indication of someone creating a feeling or sensory impression. Their eyes will move this way when they are trying to recall a taste, smell, or feeling. (your right)

Example 1: For example, ask someone to remember their last drink, and watch as their eyes move down and to the left.

Example 2: How does it feel when you walk barefoot on Glass?

· Down and to the left- This is the direction someone’s eyes will move while they “talk to themselves” (your left)
