Vladimir Lenin is often described as “the Hero of the Revolution” and is remembered as one of History’s greatest leaders and visionaries. After the overthrow of the tsarist regime and the collapse of the Provisional Government however, power did not just fall into his hands – a bitter civil war took place between the “Red” Bolsheviks and the “Whites.” It was in this period that Leon Trotsky, as commander of the Red Army, came into his own, leading the Bolsheviks to victory and to the beginning of communist Russia!
