I just prepared everything to claim the prize I thought I just won. After my bath, I decided to consult Google about Club Ultima promo. Thank God, I found this blog confirming what I was afraid of. Indeed it was a scam.

Yesterday, I received a call telling me I just won a gift certificate. The prizes include free accommodation and rides at Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu and a chance to win trip to Boracay package. Who wouldn’t get enticed with these promos? So I gave him some of my personal information. I even confirmed to him my attendance. I was really serious about my confirmation. During my shower, I imagined a lot of things like how I should enjoy my prize. All of it disappeared like a wisp in the air.

If you ever receive this type of call asking your personal information and telling you that you just won a raffle you never joined, I tell you to never fall into its trap. Beware of this type of calls. It’s a scam.

I just hope that people will try to see how they would react if they were in her shes and how would they feel. Even if one of their family members experienced that right? It just show how Filipinos think and do in their daily life, think like this what do you get from keeping the pictures or x rated pictures and talk about people with that? Why don’t you make a living yourself and you can gain more in it. Instead of spreading unnecessary gossips about other people. What if other people did that to you? I’m pretty sure you will get mad.

Let’s try to think how the victim (Anne Curtis) felt when the incident happen and with how the society reacted how will she feel ? It really would bring her down. Feelings is the hardest part to feel.

I hope we try to correct our ways of thinking and stuff. She’s a celebrity and she’s also a human being. She get the chance to got hurt and feel sad too.

There can be more reasons apart from the listed below but I just decided my top five:

First it involves drugs, sex, gossips and rich people involving the Manila’s socialite, the elite ruling class. Almost the same factors of why soap opera are well-watched by its viewers is because of its dramatic tendencies. Gorell accused famous socialites such as female lifestyle writer of being coke addict, a male event organizer/ club owner of Embassy that operates as a “drug den” for the rich people.

Second, money + betrayal = revenge. That is how some people see this unfortunate incident. Gorell was dumped by Montano thus accusing him of stealing his money that supposedly to be used for their joint business venture, a restaurant in Boracay. In order to get back at Montano, he exposes the scandalous lifestyle of Montano’s socialite friends so that they will be the ones to force Montano to pay up the $70,000 to stop Gorell of writing libelous accusations about them.

Third, how anybody can’t sympathize with Gorell when his a self-confessed HIV positive who was being betrayed and stolen a big amount of money from her ex-lover? No one, almost everybody sympathize with him. Some people think that he can also be lying about his medical condition just to be pity upon. If he once in his life, has been a member of that “socialite” group he criticizes and deconstructs now, how can be much of a different from the other lying bitches and scumbags?

Fourth, are the ethical issues of blogs against libelous and malicious written accusations for a certain person. This incident provokes the media ethics about journalism and online media because there seems to be a blurry and no clear cut rules and regulations about the new media. What is the difference of accusing people and just by expressing your feelings and insights about personal predicaments? Almost everybody can access public blogs if you let them. If the intention is freedom of expression, who will safeguards the virtual community from facts from gossips, truthfulness from falsehood, from the good to the evil?

And lastly, the gender issues of Gorell and Montano, the sexual relations and intimacy. I am not sure though if Montano’s family knows about his sexual preferences but after this scandal they already have a clear picture by now. Presently, Gorell is into another relationship of another man whom he is happy, for the meantime?!

Hope not.

From hindsight, this can be simply described as a promising business venture that turned into a tragic ending. A sad gay love story and that is all there is to it.
