Why, recent years have seen fans complain about the quality/popularity (or lack thereof) of some of the stars they have so far been seeing on airings of the show’s previous seasons. And indeed, it would appear that there is a significant need for more celebrities who are world famous and still well known, and not just has-beens, people popular because of their past associations and families, or folks who are merely famous… for being famous. So, this time, the producers of the show have decided that they are going to make this one bigger and better than ever before.

Yep, there’s a ‘wow’-er lineup this year, just as the producers promised – big and bigger names than ever before, becuase what they want to do this time is please the ever growing community of fans of the show. That’s why March 19th first of all will have Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet returning as hosts, and Len Goodman will again team up with Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as the mean, nice, and not-so-nice judges. Rumors that have surfaced recently that the show plans to bring back Season 1 co-host Lisa Canning and Samantha Harris from seasons 2 through 9 appear untrue as the February 28, 2012 release date for the announcement of the new cast memebers draws closer.

Whatever happens, it will be a good morning indeed on Good Morning America when the list finally does come out. Rumored participants and hopefuls already include big names such as Tina Fey and Courtney Cox – you know them: the Sarah Palin mimicking star formerly of SNL (Saturday Night Live), and the former Friends TV show actress. Fey is reportedly a good dancer in her own right, and Cox isn’t too shabby either.

And then, we have impressive names like comedy/action movie actor Vince Vaughn as well, not to mention singer-songwriter-dancer-model-and-English-reocrding-artist Cheryl Ann Cole, supermodel Elle MacPherson, actor Rob Lowe, and others yet to be announced. Truth be told, these are mostly just fan hopefuls for the show, but we all agree that a reality show airing on ABC in the United States, and CTV in Canada sporting stars that own these names and many others like them would be totally awesome… certainly a lot bigger than its British television parent Strictly Come Dancing could ever hope attain. 

I mean, other names of stars who have been approached already include Jersey Shore actress Jenni Farely, former 2012 presidential hopeful Michele Bachman, also called JWoWW, was approached by the producers to join the cast for Season 14. She is a star on Jersey Shore, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and… wow, what a wishlist!

And so we look forward to that day only days from today when the producers of Dancing With the Stars will bless us with the names of this year’s celebrity participants of the show – A-list actors, singers, models… STARS in every respect.One cannot deny the fact that this reality show has been assembling a wild bunch of celebrities, so this season the producers are aiming to get some A-lists stars. Several sources suggest that the screenplay for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has been completed by writer Terry Rossio, but without co-writer Ted Elliot (Who has co-written for all previous Pirates of the Caribbean films ).
One possible title for the film is Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Beyond The Sea’s World, found from a leaked draft of the now complete script.

However the film’s future could be jeopordized with star Johnny Depp having not yet cemented his interest in making more Pirates of the Caribbean movies, saying that “It boils down to story, script, and filmmaker..It’s not something where I’d say let’s shoot it next month…We should hold off for a bit”. Could this mean that Depp has doubts about the integrity of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, especially after the rushed fourth movie? Only time will tell. What is for sure is that the franchise still holds an incredible fanbase, and any future movie is sure to be just as popular as its predecessors.

Well, who should be on the news today but our favorite young actress, Dakota Fanning.  My children grew up with her.  She began with I am Sam, Cat in the Hat and some other childhood characters.  She was a sweet little girl with a major talent for acting.  In War of the Worlds, she was still considered young.

Then she slowly started to grow up.  This year she turns eighteen, but it has been within the last year that she has blossomed from childhood star to young adult and pushing maturity.  Onto more mature and grown up roles for her now.

Enter, her sister, Elle, who is still young, but also a little grown up in a sense.  She’s following in her footsteps, borrowing her outfits and getting photographed in Dakota’s stuff.  Growl,  the younger sister stole my stuff.

And suddenly we see her in a provocative perfume add for Marc Jacobs.  Yes, she is definitely grown up and beginning to be a little sultry. 

Today we have seen the cover of the February issue of Cosmopolitan.  People are torn and don’t think she should be gracing her presence at such a grown up magazine.  She’s not even eighteen yet.  Should she be appearing next to heated words of sex and passion?  She is still so young.  It would be different if she were say twenty.  Yet, she probably isn’t even out of high school yet, technically.

People are so torn.  I would also say, it should be okay.  She’s eighteen and just wants to push the envelope a little bit.  Why should people worry about Dakota exposing her mature self on an adult magazine?  She’s practically an adult.

What they should worry about more than about Dakota is these crazy mothers pushing their little daughters to enter these pageants and make them look so grown up.  Come on!  They are probably only four or five.  They are clearly not adults.  You can clearly see some of these mothers really want to push their children into something that maybe they would rather not do. 

And then there is also the controversial photo shoot of young models looking provocative in a grown up photo shoot.  Isn’t that controversial?  Yet, the mother of the little models said it was just in play.  Role playing and just playing dress up for a photo shoot.  We are brought back to Brooke Shields when she was younger.  She had had her controversial photo shoot at a tender age.  Yet, it hasn’t hurt her image.

And then we’ve got the Gosselin children who got put on national tv and their lives displayed upon millions.  Did they have a say in it?  I bet not.  They must be relieved that they are going to be out of the limelight now.

There are lots of controversial things that go on.  What do we do but either choose to okay it or say it shouldn’t be done.  We walk a fine line.  What’s okay and what is not.  But we’re always pushing the boundaries and try to see what we can get away with.

So let her be on the cover.  It shouldn’t really matter, as long as she knows she’s a good girl and doesn’t go tarnishing her image like someone else, should I dare say it?  Li Lo Jailbait.

Some of the reasons people donate to charity are because they genuinely want to help the charity. This is a noble reason, and the “right” reason to donate. Others because they get the tax receipt, or because they had stuff to get rid of. Both reasons are fine.

However there is also a trend where people donate solely for the idea of getting attention, effectively they donate so they can brag about donating. These people seem to donate to charity so they can be worshiped as some sort of celebrity in their community. They wave their donation around like a badge, they want everyone to know that they made a donation. Their act of “charity” is just that; an act.

Of course it is great that a charity got a donation, but it is a bit sad that some people use charities as a way to become popular.

True acts of charity come from the heart, many of the most sincere acts of charity come from people who want no thanks, no praise, and no “pats on the back” for doing “the right thing”. These people might make anonymous donations, or they might not, but the point is they do not behave as though donating to charity was a popularity contest.

Charities know that many people donate because they want to look good in front of others. They hold events, such as charity auctions, in which people can make their donations (in the form of bidding on auction items) very public. Celebrities often use these events to look good to the public, but even in small communities members of the public also try to use these events to look like a local celebrity or hero.

In the end as long as the charity continues to get donations that should be the main thing, but I must give a shout out to all those people who donate to charities and do so without wanting their name on plaques on the wall, or without announcing it to the world; like the person who donated over a million dollars to an animal shelter in Detroit, or to my former neighbor who donated over a million dollars to charity and nobody knew until after he passed away and the receipts were found in his humble home.

Finally I wish to give thanks to anyone who has given to charity, even if for selfish reasons, it is still better than not giving to charity at all.  I want to encourage people to support local charities too!
