At the beginning of the decade 1830-1840, over 125,000 Indians living in Georgia today of American States, Tennesseee, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida. At the end of the decade, only a few thousand more living on their respective territories. Besides settlers wanted their land for their farms and plantations of cotton, the federal government forced Indians to leave their lands and to start a terrible march through the so called "Indian reserves" beyond the Mississippi. Cruel and unjust march is known as Tears Road and is one of the most shameful pages in the history of racism, greed, ignorance and human cruelty.
