This Friday is BBC Children In Need night, the annual national fundraiser, which last year raised over £18 million for the charity in a single night. Is it wrong to give so much money to only one cause, when there are so many worthy charities out there which need our support?

BBC’s charity Children In Need kicks off again in November. It is one of Britain’s biggest telethons, alongside Comic Relief and Sport Relief, pleading for the public to donate in their masses. But does aid actually help or hinder? Using Africa as a case study, I have explored the true value of aid.

Oftentimes we feel a certain degree of pleasure in giving whether it’s for the holidays or for a favorite charity which we know does great work. There are many charities out there just like that: charities working hard in making a difference in someone’s life.

In a general consensus we are very lucky people to be able to reside in a country full of freedoms, rights, privileged and even in a wealthy country where many people can care for theirs and their own. Unfortunately we also live in a country that has those that can’t care for their own person.

These are some great organizations that do amazing things for humanity.
