Research suggests men who do housework are a turn on.

Men have been searching for the ultimate method for attracting women for centuries. Now, the answer has been provided – do housework.

According to research, women are more attracted to men who spend time doing housework and showing how much they lo-o-ove taking care of children.

Variations by Country

What’s more the ‘do housework – attract a women’ phenomenon works best for if you live in a country like the United States, Norway, Sweden or England. Live in Australia, Japan, Germany, or Austria? Your chances are not as good – those countries seem to have greater disdain for men who mop and want to change diapers so your chances of attracting a women while you’re dusting the furniture is slim. In fact, the researchers found that women in countries who don’t see household chores as a positive attribute in men, were 20 to 50 percent less likely to be living with a man than comparable women living in countries – like the good old U.S of A, where housework seems to be a turn on, leading to a relationship and possibly marriage.

Does all this work in reverse – men looking for women who do housework? The researchers say yes. Most men would choose a woman who they can rely on to do housework and look after the children, says the study.

‘Women’s Work’ is an Old Concept

The researchers believe that in certain countries there is less social stigma to men doing what might once have been considered “women’s work.” Today, men who are willing to accept a more equal role when it comes to domestic matters are more likelihood to find someone who appreciates them and wants to establish a relationship with them. For couples, the man taking on domestic responsibilities – for instance taking paternity leave when a newborn is around – the marriage relationship can be made stronger.

Population Increases in Countries Where Men Help With the Housework

The researchers claim that the men-who-do-chores syndrome can also be seen as a reason why some countries have a falling birth rate, while others are seeing a booming population.

So, men – grab that mop and start cleaning. Your dating schedule will begin to fill up – maybe!

Obama’s radio and internet address dedicated to Fatherhood. A special address before Father’s day. A great and inspirational message from Obama to all fathers. “Being a dad is sometimes my hardest job” he said. Why did he say so? Read on…..

U.S. President, Barack Obama: “being a dad is sometimes my hardest job but also the most rewarding”. The president said this on his Saturday radio and Internet address ahead of Father’s Day dedicating it to Fatherhood.

Obama talked about his growing up without a dad, his shortoming as a dad and the values he hopes to teach his two daughters; 12 year-old Malia and Sasha 10.

He also talked about the responsibilities that all dads have to their children and family. Obama said administration is trying all it can to help during the tough economic times the nation is going through and long deployments for U.S. troops.

The president as a dad himself spoke as of assisting to coach his younger daughter, Sasha’s basketball team. Obama said, precious moments with ones children fills one with pride and so much excitement for the children’s future. “The chances we have are to set examples, offer opportunities, offer a piece of advice and show the children that we love them”, Obama said.

His grandparents without his dad in Hawaii raised Obama when he was very young. “I really felt his absence” ”….I wonder what my life would’ve been like if I had his greater presence”

The president said that was the reason why he have and is trying so hard to be a good father to his children. He admitted, I ofcourse have not always succeeded. My job in the past often kept me away from home more than I wanted to and the great responsibility of raising two young girls. Sometimes putting much burden on Michelle.

President Obama said he has learned that what children need the most is the presence of their parents and time for the children and a structure that instills responsibility and self-discipline. Saying this, Obama cited that even in the White House, his children Malia and Sasha did their chores and also walk the dog. He added that the children above all needed parents’ unconditional love when life is easy or tough and whether the children succeed or make mistakes.

An in depth look at the benefits and struggles of children today compared to those of children several generations ago. A small stab at an attempt to answer where we've gone wrong with the past few generations and why they have so many problems. Some suggestions as to how to change things for the better in the lives of our children today.

I’m guilty. I have let my kids watch too much TV. I watch too much TV. I’ve spent time on line that I should have spent with them. I’m busy all the time, but never seem to get anything done, and somehow when I go to bed each night, I feel as though I wasn’t busy enough with my kids. And, it’s because I wasn’t. I don’t mean busy running around taking them places. I mean busy spending my time with them.

I realized the other day that if we lived 40, 60, or even 100 years ago this would be drastically different. That’s not to say that all parents then were good parents, but their children tended to turn out quite differently as adults than do ours today. What’s the difference and what can we do about it? Let’s go back in time a bit and take our children with us.

I’m sure many of you have seen the post that goes around and around on many of the social networking sites that mentions growing up drinking from the water hose, having only three channels on the television and having to get off your rump to change them, swimming in creeks, and so on. I’ve clicked my “like” button on many of these and posted a few myself. What about going back there with our kids? Would that change the morals and values they are growing up with? Of course it would.

And, if we go back further than that, we come to a time where there was no television, only a radio if a family could afford one. And, instead of watching shows, the family came together around the radio once or twice a week and listened to a program together. Life was often hard back then, but not necessarily more difficult than now. Perhaps it was merely hard in different ways. Frederick Douglass said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” I believe that remains as true today as when he first thought it. Society as a whole was less angry then due to the fact that information was not available at the click of a button. Families heard the news as it came in slowly, and it wasn’t so skewed by people trying to get ratings as it is these days. They went to church on Sunday and it was the social event of the week. Dads and Grandpas read the Bible to the whole family as everyone sat around together and even the little ones paid attention. Often the Bible was the only book a family had in their home and it was cherished. Extended family and neighbors were important and valued in that people were really there for one another rather than generally ‘too busy’. I’m not saying everything was perfect back then, far from it. However, there were several things that were definitely better for our children than what we’re giving them today.

Children were able to be children. Parents then didn’t share all their worries and burdens with their kids. Those were adult matters, and taken care of by the adults. Expectations were set high for children then. They worked hard, but played harder, and it was good for them. They used their imaginations more, and didn’t dream of demanding things like the newest commercial toy from their parents. Wow, I just used the word demanding. It’s true, though, we have a generation of children growing up in America today that literally demands things from their parents. Worse yet, parents are giving into these demands. How very sad is that for them? The reality is that as adults if they go around demanding what they want, they will be incredibly disappointed. One must work for the things they want and need out of life.

“If a child finds no stimuli for the activities which would contribute to his development, he is attracted simply to ‘things’ and desires to possess them.”
-Maria Montessori

Families got up together in the morning, ate meals together, did chores together, and played together after the work was done. How many of us today don’t get up early at all, or even at the same time everyday with our families? How many of us don’t sit down to meals with our children? How many of us play before we work, and even believe that we deserve to do so? If children learn what they live, what are they learning from all of this?

I have adult children and am raising two of my grandchildren aged 2 and 5. I’ve made my share of mistakes as a parent, but as all parents do, I’m learning as I go. There are a few concepts that are relatively new in our society that, quite simply, make me cringe.

First, how is it that everyone should respect everyone else? I have been fighting this inane idea since my kids were very small. I taught them that they should treat people respectfully, but true respect must be earned or deserved. They should, for example, not respect someone who harms them.

Secondly, when did it become not only a parent’s responsibility, but that of teachers, coaches, and so on, to make sure that every child grows up with a perfect sense of self esteem. Children are not born with an innate sense of self esteem. Again, respect is earned and esteem no less so. It’s become almost taboo in our society to tell a child no. It won’t hurt them a bit to do so, and may even go so far as saving a life. I recently saw an article about a woman who didn’t want her 14 month old baby to hear the word no because it would be bad for him. She said she left him alone in the bathtub because he wanted to be alone, while she checked her Facebook account What is the likelihood that at only 14 months old this boy had the decision making capability to insist that he be left alone in the tub? She found the poor baby dead in the bathtub after chatting with some friends and playing Farmville for a while. This is obviously an extreme example of the damage not saying no to a child can do, nevertheless children of all ages must have our supervision and our discipline. Had this woman said no, or simply stayed with her son instead of focusing on her wants, he would be alive and would still have a chance to develop some self esteem.

If a child fails at something, it is beneficial for them to accept that failure, learn from it, and move on. If a child hurts someone or bullies them, they ought to accept responsibility for this and make amends. Conversely, if a child does a good job at a chore, hits a home run, accomplishes reading an entire book for the first time or any other positive thing, then it is good for them to receive an appropriate amount of praise. Not only that, but the reality is that self esteem comes from working hard and dealing with the outcome appropriately regardless of whether that outcome is positive or negative. When we constantly tell our children that they are good no matter what they do, we are letting them down. The real world and society just don’t work that way. In fact, I believe that so many people end up in jail because they didn’t learn at a young age that if they don’t follow rules they will be removed from society. Is it really a huge leap from not following rules while growing up to committing crimes and not following the law as an adult?

Finally, we as parents do have a responsibility to teach our children right from wrong. We must instill values and morals in them. If we do not, who will? As a Christian, I do my best to use the Bible as my guide in doing so. We have a responsibility to teach our children to work hard and that the work they do is a path to self respect and self esteem. We need to let them make mistakes, and to suffer the consequences of those mistakes. We wrong them when we buffer them from the natural consequences both good and bad of what they do or fail to do in life. While we all want happiness for our children, it’s all right from the time they are very small, to let them be sad or angry when things don’t go their way. It’s ok as well to be sad, happy, melancholy, joyful, and even angry along with them. Again, if children learn what they live, then seeing us deal with emotions appropriately would benefit them by showing them how to deal with their own.

Most importantly, we as parents have responsibility to our children period. We need to turn off the TV, turn off the computer, shut off our phones, open our hearts and our Bibles, and be parents. We need to work with them, learn with them, play with them, and pray with them. I’ve heard and said, “I need more hours in my day.” The truth is that I have plenty of hours, I just fill them up with too much junk. So, let’s declutter our lives. Let’s get rid of the junk that takes up our time and keeps us so busy and away from our families and children. Then, we can begin to reverse some of the damage to our youth, families, communities, and society that has been done over the past few generations. Perhaps we can raise a generation of children who will truly be upstanding, contributing members of society. In fact, if that were to happen, society as a whole would begin to change. Wouldn’t it? I’m doing my best to take my children back in time, and I hope that this will touch many of you and you’ll consider taking the same journey.

As always, I look forward to hearing your opinions, thoughts, and feelings about what I’ve written here. And, I’ll do my best to respond to any and all comments.

This is on helping stressful parents.

Get family to help out

If you have parents or relatives who have nothing to do, you can ask them to babysit or to help with some bills around the house. It’s their grandchildren so they will be delighted to help out once in awhile.

Make kids work

If your kids are over 16, you should make them work. They can pay for their own bills. This will teach them hard work, and how to save and pay for themselves. It will help them learn how to work with people when they grow up.

Cut down cost

You should cut down cost like pets, or yard work to save some extra money to pay for other things. Your family is very costly, so extra services like cable or an Iphone is not necessary in a big family.

Have rules

You should have strict rules and stand by them. This means children have to do chores, finish their homework, and stay in their room. They should also have curfew and who they can bring home.

Have children do chores

Children can help out with chores at home, doing the dishes, laundry, or cleaning the house. This will help you save time and give you time to rest when you’re off of work. This will also teach kids responsibility and hard work. This will also help make them feel important in the house, like they have a job to do.

You know you have to get it done, but something always comes up. So how do you find the time?

Getting everything done in a day, can be some what a pain. There are so many things. From cleaning the house, making dinner, working, exercising and the list could go on. So how do you manage to get it all done.

Make a list. I write down everything I want to do in a day, or do everyday, and put it into a chore chart. I mark it off as I go along and when I see the results, it’s so much easier. I break it into different parts. This way I’m not burning myself out.

For example with my schedule I have to get up, get the kids up, make their breakfast, take them to school, come home clean house, work online, pick the kids up, spend time with them, work on my classes as well as my manuscript. I still have to find time for exercise since I sit at a desk all day, as well as a shower and bedtime.

For me free time is watching television. And I only allow an hour because I’m A.D.D I tend to zone out and forget everything else. For this I use an alarm. The best part is I can use my cell phone or a couple of cell phones that aren’t used for anything else and I set up alarms for different times of the day to remind me. Others may not have to go to such extremes, but I do. It’s the only way I can do everything without losing focus.

And focus, is the only way to get everything done. I have seen times I had set up a schedule and get side traqcked thinking of all the things I needed to do. I could sit and write several topics to write on, but when it came to it, I didn’t do anything.

The best way to get that out of the way is to have notebooks, small and large. Sit the large one on your desk or near you at night for when those ideas keep you from sleeping. Take the little one with you so you can write down any idea that happens to pop into your mind while on the go.

There are many things you can do to help get everything done and if you’ll stay tuned, next Monday I’ll post more.

With our fast paced lives, stress busters are welcome alternatives to a nervous breakdown. I'm speaking here with tongue in cheek but it's almost a fact. We are racing around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off, and what does it accomplish? It doesn't help us and it makes for stressed, unhappy families. Why not slow down, cut out some of the activities and relax?

Stress Busters

We are going to have stress, there is no way around it as long as we have death, family breakups and all the other things that go with living. That kind of stress is to be expected. It’s the small trivial day to day stress that’s the killer. Most of us live in stress every day. We rush to get the kids off to school on time, get ourselves off to work, then rush to pick up groceries on the way home, supper to prepare. We get into bed at midnight if we are lucky in a few hours the rat race begins all over again.

All this stress is telling on us with the unnecessary release of hormones that are there to get us through life threating situations. Our little constant stresses are leading to diabetes, heart disease, cancer and depression. We need to decide to do away with this unnecessary stress and learn to keep a calmer attitude.

Are you one of those people who say yes when you mean no? That’s a stresser right there. If you can’t say no when asked to do something that you don’t have time for, or you just don’t want to do, say so. Say, My plate is just too full right now to take on any more responsibility, or I’m too stressed right now, I’m taking a break for awhile. See how much stress that takes off you.

If you find your kids or husband are so busy watching TV or texting that they are not listening to you. Turn everything off and have everyone sit down. Tell them you expect their respectful attention and that you will do the same for them. Plan some free time where everyone can sit down and say what’s on their minds.

Do you and your family have too many activities? Think about what activities you can cut out altogether, and how many you can reduce. Fewer activities means downtime to relax and clear your mind. Kids can get overextended too. Everyone needs breathing space.

Let your husband and kids help with chores. It doesn’t matter if chores aren’t done perfectly. Family can take turns clearing the supper table and setting it for breakfast, folding clothes and putting them away, dusting, cleaning their own rooms, packing school lunches. Look around and you will find any number of chores for the whole family.

How upsetting is it to try to get customer service and be left with a voice activated customer service center? Doesn’t that ruffle your feathers? Go to (Get2Human.com) and find out how to talk to a human quickly, or call the main number then press 0 (zero) after you hear a voice. You may have to press it several times. If that doesn’t work, try 0#, 0*, #0, *0, or try saying, agent, or human.

It isn’t easy with all that’s going on today, but with the right attitude and determination, you can cut down the stress. It might mean dropping some of the activities you and the kids are accustomed to. It might mean letting go of too busy friends. You and the family deserve time to relax and enjoy your time together.

1. It is essential that you take on one task at a time. Never look at an entire house or room and allow yourself to feel overwhelmed. Instead choose on section of a room at a time, for example, a wardrobe or a book case.

2. Remember that it is going to take time to get everything done, so don’t have expectations of completing a whole house in one day. The clutter in the majority of homes has taken several months, even years to build up so its only natural that its going to take a while ! Plan your time wisely and set yourself mini goals, for example, whilst dinners cooking ill do the kitchen cabinets for an hour.

4. You will find that there will be many items that you cant decided whether to keep or throw. The best thing to do with these things is to put them all together in a box and keep them somewhere until you’ve finished and can be more decisive. Never keep this items in the place you’ve just found them ! this is how you got into the clutter in the first place ! The same also goes for items that your not sure on where to keep, put these into a separate box from the to keep or not to keeps. You’ll find that after your place is de cluttered finding homes for these items will become much easier !

5. And most important of all is to REWARD YOURSELF FOR YOUR EFFORTS AND HARD WORK! The end reward will be having a clean de cluttered home which you will feel great for, however after every room or goal you set yourself to do, reward yourself with a treat whether its going out for a manicure, a drink or simply putting your feet up on the sofa with a chocolate bar..
The work ethic has gone down the drain as far as the majority of young workers go. That's what we hear from business and corporations nowadays. They say young workers have the skills but are sadly lacking in motivation. What has happened to our children's work ethic? Our nation was build on hard work and sacrifice. Americans have always taken pride in their acomplishments. The work ethic is something older parents taught at home. Have younger parents forgotten that?

The Work Ethic

In recent years, corporations have complained that young people have the skills but little motivation to work. Many kids are moving back home with their parents after graduating from college and show no interest in going it alone. Psychologists say it’s what happens to over indulged youngsters. As parents have earned more income and live more affluently they consider it their duty to relieve children of chores and so called menial work. As a result children don’t learn how to work and develop a work ethic. Parents must learn to look for ways to teach their children to work and to take pride in their work.

Children as young as 3 or 4 can begin to learn the work ethic by doing chores such as, putting away their toys, feeding pets, fetching things. Parents should not feel guilty for giving children chores. It’s a way to let them contribute to the families well being. Chores lets them know service is expected of every member of the family. Chores teach the value of work and responsibility. Some parents make lists and let children choose their tasks for the week. Other parents assign them. Whatever way you do it, insist children complete their assignments in a timely fashion and don’t let them opt out. It’s easier to teach kids the work ethic with parental guidance than to expect they will learn later when they finish college.

Don’t expect little kids to always do their chores perfectly. But don’t step in and take over. Let them learn from experience. Of course, as your kids get older and learn responsibility, don’t let them get away with sloppy work. Teach them to have a good work ethic and to take pride in a job well done. And never miss an opportunity to let them know how much you value the services rendered.

As children get into the teens talk to them about the purpose of work. Let them know it’s done for the greater good of the people. Young people need to know there is a purpose, that doing a good job makes you a better person and adds to your character and self esteem. Talk about your own work ethic and work experience, the lessons you learned and how those experiences shaped your life.

Expect teens to complain about their jobs. Sometimes the customers are rude, the boss isn’t always fair. Let them vent, in fact, encourage it. After all, adults sometime gripe about their jobs, too. If your kid has trouble on the job, even gets fired because they fail to show up on time or do the job correctly, don’t make excuses for them. Let them learn from their actions. In spite of everything, always offer encouragement. A parent can agree that, yes, it’s hard to get up early in the morning, work is hard and the boss isn’t always fair, but this is what we do. That’s part of earning a living.

Kids learn a good work ethic when the parents talks the talk, and walks the walk. You show your children the example you expect them to follow.
