An Economy that runs on War Booty can be better than a typical Capitalist or Socialist Economy. It will enrich the people of a Society with such an Economy and fulfill their Materialistic Dreams. Such a Society will have to become heavily Militarized to successfully implement this system.

Existing Economic Systems

In the Age that we live in, most States follow either one of these Economic Systems, Socialism, Capitalism or a Mixed System. Most Socialist countries are not truly socialist and true Socialism has almost ceased to exist. Capitalism is dominant but many Countries have opted to become Mixed Economies to provide for the essential needs of their people. Even the National Socialist Economic system can be considered a Mixed Economic System.

A New Idea

I have in mind a system which is not based on the whims of the government or the movement of the market. I have in mind a system that will be based upon a society as a whole. In the next few lines, you will understand why this system is so radically different. The whole system works to feed the Economy through War Booty/War Loot. A society which can implement this system would raid neighbouring societies/ethnic groups/nationalities/tribes/communities. They would take everything, from Slippers to Televisions, and Slaves too, but they will leave behind a part of the raided population even if they decide to kill some people. The Booty would also help them to feed themselves.

Creation and Organisation

Such an Economic System cannot be created in just any society. The kind of Society which can make optimum use of the said System should be living tough Environmental conditions and have a History of War and Invasions. The Society should also be organised into different Tribes and Clans. They should preferably be living on land which cannot give large harvests. They should have neighbours who are the opposite of them(in terms of toughness/battle readiness) and they(the neighbours) should be greater in number. For the Creation of such an economic system, a person needs to be bring such a social entity together under his/her control and make sure the division of power is just and precise. The Creation of new divisions should be made possible.

Trade and Commerce

Whatever Booty would be collected has to be either kept for the people’s own use or has to be sold. Such a Society should maintain good relations with certain neighbours through whom they can trade and involve themselves in commercial activities. Businesses can also operate to better distribute the obtained products among the population and provide more jobs.

The Advantages of this System

The Greatest Advantage of this system is that a Society which uses this system would not have to work as hard as other ones. The people would be, of course richer. Almost all goods, from foodstuffs to Fake nails, would be available. Foreign technologies would be easier to obtain. Also, this society would have more incentives to expand as everyone engaged in the workings of such a Society would know that Expansion would bring more money and more raiding Capacity.

Cons

Obviously, such a System seems to be extremely Violent as one people are subdued, persecuted and looted(even though they are allowed to be free on their own.). This system has a risk of igniting greater conflicts, inviting the wrath of World Superpowers. Moreover, it can also lead to the Annihilation of the User Population.

From a Military Point Of View

This system cannot work with an extremely large population or even an area with a very high Population density. So, there has to be great participation from a well equipped and trained small population. Thus such a Society would be highly militarised. The People also must have the Zeal to attack and Loot. Such a Society must know how to Arm itself properly and produce it’s own weaponry. The Militias/Military should be quick and well organised to reduce chances of being attacked on enemy territory by larger forces, when returning from a raid.

The child was named after the third or fourth day. The process of naming the child went as follows;

Delegation visits the baby in company of TBA

Inside the house where the mother and child have been confined for 3 or four days would be the mother, the child and some relatives. The delegation from the child’s paternal and maternal relatives led by the Traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) who delivered the baby would come to the house carrying a winnowing tray in one hand, a knobbed stick used for stirring simsim into cooked food in another hand. In addition, she would also be holding a ladle used for mingling millet bread.

Naming done according to circumstances

The Traditional Birth Attendant would knock on the door and in the process of opening it for the delegation, she would suggest a name for the child. There was no criterion for deciding which name the woman would choose. However, in abnormal circumstances, the mother’s choice would be given preference. Such a name usually told a lot about the circumstances of birth or the state of the family at the time of birth. For example, the name Otto/Atto suggested that many brothers and sisters had died; Okech/Akech means that one was born during serious food insecurity; Odoki/Adok means that the mother had threatened to go back to her parents. Bongomin means the boy was born without brothers; Olanya/Alanyo means that the mother felt abandoned. You will note that as a rule, all the girls have their names starting with letter A while the boys generally have their names starting with letter O except for a few cases like Bongomin

The Mother Gets Officially accepted into the Clan after naming

After all the ceremonies, the mother would cease to put on her unmarried girl’s belt if that was her first born. She would begin to be addressed by the name of her first born child, Min odoki or mother of Odoki. It is then that the woman would be accepted fully in the husband’s clan. In some clans, the husband would not eat the food prepared by the mother of new born for several months. It was also common among the Acholi women to refrain from having sex until after weaning the child. All the ceremonies relating to normal births were not addressed to the spirits.

The Native American dream catcher allows positive dreams in and protects the user from negative dreams or so is the legend.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2011/03/15/dreamcatchersindex_1.jpg

One of the most fascinating of all Native American Traditions is the dream catcher. It is widely believed the legend of the dream catcher came from the Sioux with their tales of spiders, webs and bad dreams. But deeper research into the storytelling and oral histories passed down from parent to child gives a clearer picture of how the dream catcher came into use.

Long ago when the world was young with old traditions, all the Clans of the Ojibwe were located in an area known as Turtle Island. This is where the ancient stories of the dream catcher originated.

Asibikaasi (Spider Women) carefully and lovingly watched over her children, the Ojibwe Clans. Every dawn her task was to capture giizis (the sun) and bring its light back to her people. The miracle of her work could be seen in the sparkles of the sun off the dew dampened earth.

One of the Seven Prophecies of the Ojibwe was the scattering of the clan to the four corners of North American. In time this prophecy became a truth. With her children so dispersed Asibikaasi found it hard to bless them with the brilliance of the sun.

She tasked the mothers, sisters and grandmothers of the tribe to weave magical webs for their children and themselves. These webs were to be made in the shape of the sun to represent how giizis traveled across the sky to them. The number of points in the web should number seven or eight, for the Seven Prophecies or the eight legs of the Spider Women. Asibikaasi promised to only allow good dreams or thoughts into the lodge, while catching all the bad ones in her web and perishing them in the pure dawn of giizis.

Dream catchers for infants and children were made of willow and sinew, and not meant for permanence. The willow eventually dried out and the tension of the sinew collapses. This represents the temporary state of youth. Adult dream catchers were made of woven fibers to last many years and reflect the strength of their dreams.

It was traditional to weave a feather in the center of a child’s dream catcher; it means breath or air which is essential for life. It was thought a baby watching the air playing with the feather would be entertained and learn the importance of good air. The feathers were gender specific, an owl feather for females (for wisdom) and an eagle feather for males (for courage). Gems woven into the fibers represented the four directions of the wind.

If you believe as the Ojibwe did, that the night is filled with good and bad dreams, then place a dream catcher over your bed. Allow it to swing freely in the air with the feathers floating down, to guide good dreams into your sleepy mind. Then sleep well knowing your nightmares will perish with the dawn.

Information on Aboriginese clans and hordes.

The clan is the most important unit in Aboriginal society. Each clan has their own name, territory, and is the land-owning unit. It consists of about 40-50 people, made of groups of extended families. Not all members of a clan live in the territory. When people are married, the bride goes to the husband’s clan territory. However, even though a clan has its own territory, members of one clan will live with another. Hordes on the other hand were larger than clans. A horde would consist of several clans combined together, but they would not be a close-knit society. It would be similar to the United Nations, in which there are many countries that are working together, but each remain their own unique identity.

From Hero and Villain: More Prisoners of Eternity.

Rob Roy, is a name that epitomises our image of the Scottish Highlands: strong, brave, free-spirited. Like the hero’s of the old American West, or the Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest, he has been romanticised in history. This is the true story of Rob Roy MacGregor.

Robert Roy MacGregor, was born on 7 March, 1671, at Glengyle near Loch Katrine in Stirlingshire. His father was Donald Glas, a leading figure within the Clan though not its Chief. The MacGregor Clan were notorious reivers (thieves) and were feared for their violence and unpredictability. Rarely, did they not demand satisfaction for any slight or slur on their honour. So much so in fact, that by the time of Robert’s birth the use of the name MacGregor had been banned, and throughout his life he would often revert to using his mother’s maiden name of Campbell.

His father made his money from cattle rustling and as a dutiful son Robert would be expected to support his father in his endeavours. As the son of a leading Clan member, however, Robert had received an education. He could read and write, speak English as well as his native Gaelic, and was always articulate in his correspondence. He was more than capable of making a living within the law, if he so chose.

At the age of 18 he joined his father in the Jacobite uprising against King William of Orange,* and on 27 July, 1689, fought at the Battle of Killicrankie. A bloody affair which despite being a Jacobite victory left more than 600 Highlanders and its leader the Bonnie Dundee, dead. His father was captured a few months later whilst on a cattle raid and imprisoned for 2 years with a sentence of high treason hanging over his head. Whilst he was in prison his wife died and this seemed to break the spirit of the older MacGregor. Upon his release he reluctantly agreed to sign the Oath of Allegiance to King William, even so the Privy Council in Edinburgh demanded that he pay the costs of his captivity. This he could not do and it came down to Robert to steal the cattle to pay for it. On one such raid he murdered a man who refused to hand over his livestock.

On 1 January, 1693, he married his cousin Helen Mary MacGregor. It appears to have been a happy marriage and they were to have four children all of whom were to live into adulthood.

Having attained some land near Loch Lomond, Robert augmented his meagre income with some cattle rustling and by running a protection racket that became known as the “Lennox Watch.” Local farmers who did not want their livestock stolen would pay a “black rent” to the MacGregor’s not to steal them. In the meantime, Robert assiduously built up his own cattle herd. Over the next few years he acquired the reputation of a respected, if not entirely trusted, businessman. A tall, well-built man, immensely strong with extraordinarily long arms, he was a man few were willing to argue with. His mane of wild, unkempt red hair earned him the sobriquet Red Robert, later to become Rob Roy.

His life started to go wrong in 1712, however, when he decided to increase his cattle herd by borrowing a large sum of money, perhaps as much as £1,000, from James Graham, the 1st Earl of Montrose. When his chief cattle herder disappeared with the money Robert was forced to default on the loan. The Earl of Montrose charged him with embezzlement and had a law of Fire and Sword passed against him. He had his men evict Robert’s family from their home at Inversnaid, during which his wife was raped and branded. The house was then burned to the ground, his land seized, and his livestock sold. Rob Roy was now a man on the run, but he would not run far.

For the next decade and more he undertook a personal vendetta against Montrose, intercepting his wagons and stealing his goods, rustling his cattle, and burning his property where he could. He also helped pay the debts of those who owed Montrose money preventing him from seizing their goods and homes. This earned him a Robin Hood reputation and he would be known from now on as Rob Roy.

Rob Roy’s campaign of vengeance drove the much-hated Montrose to distraction. He placed a price on Rob’s head and spent a small fortune on those who promised to bring him in. But even when he was captured, as at Balquhidder in 1722, he promptly escaped. Likewise, tricked and imprisoned by the Duke of Atholl he bribed his guards and fled before he could be handed over to Montrose. It was also during this period that he fought and won a number of high-profile duels.

Always an unrepentant Jacobite he participated in the uprising of 1715. It was duly crushed and Rob was placed on a list of men accused of treason. As a result, he accepted the amnesty that was on offer. This didn’t prevent from again fighting for the Jacobite cause and being badly wounded at the Battle of Glen Shiel in 1719.

Finally captured he was imprisoned for nearly five years in London before being pardoned by King George II. Returning to Scotland in 1727, he settled down to a quiet life. He enjoyed his fame, his wealth, and the respect that came from being the de-facto head of his Clan. He died at home in Inverlochlarig Beg on 28 December, 1734, aged 63.

The Hell's Angels Bike clan.

The “Hells Angels.” A undoubtedly dangerous group of bikers that were notorious for murders and selling illegal drugs. This group was founded in the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Some say it seemed to be founded by a few motorcycle leaders, Some even say that the name of the clan was named after some World War 1 and 2 U.S. Air Force. Some Hells Angels members have tried to dispel the belief. There are many different hells Angles clans, some from Mexico, some from San Fransisco, some people from Hells Angels maybe even live around where you live, one cannot be certain though.

Their jackets wield a “Deaths Head” Symbol on it as shown below.

The colors and yet the shape of this early style jacket seems to be “Copied” from the 85th fighter squadron and the 552nd Medium Bomber Squadron. Apparently to join this Clan the members must be men over the age of 21 and must ride a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

I got some of my information from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hells_Angels
