The Classroom.

Teachers have enormous power in the classroom, but they must strive to utilize it to create a climate in which students are neither so intimidated that they never challenge them, nor become so infuriated that they revolt. The way they design their lesson plans and action plans through students’ interaction regulates this power-relationship and determines the educational outcome.

Paramount to establishing a positive small or large class environment and deterring disruptive behavior is to let students know your expectations from the outset and hold them to those expectations. Perhaps, most importantly, as teachers we need to take into account our own behavior as well as that of our students. An honest attempt, to fathom how classroom deportment might contribute to a difficult situation, may help reduce incivilities.

It means that we make an effort to create conditions under which all the voices can speak and be heard (including our own), and in which educational processes can be seen and uncovered to a prolific negotiation. Patience is very important in dealing with students; consequently, painstaking effort is resorting to classroom difficulties to go against the odds and tides.

It was exhilarating, the first time when I got an opportunity to work in an international school without any Bachelor’s degree in education. Moreover, I was totally new to the classroom management techniques especially with the younger kids. To make it interesting, we live in a turbulent technological era where each child is well-informed and well-read through media and internet.
