Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) has developed a four-point plan in his proposal, “A Roadmap for America’s Energy Future,” to significantly change energy policy in the United States. Under this plan, the federal government would create a Renewable Energy Trust Fund, which would use royalties that the federal government receives on oil and gas production leases to fund the most cost-effective clean energy projects. This free-market solution has the potential to both increase domestic energy production in the near-term, while also promoting renewable energy concepts that will provide for greater American innovation – and independence in the emerging green energy market.
