When John Kehoe was executed in Pennsylvania on December the 18th 1878 he was the last of the Molly Maguire’s. The Molly Maguire’s was an Irish secret society that was allegedly responsible for a number of incidents of vigilante justice around the coalfields of eastern Pennsylvania.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Cherry Mine Disaster.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of one of America’s deadliest mining disasters that occurred in the small town of Cherry, Illinois one hundred years ago on November 13, 1909 when 259 miners lost their lives.
