Some people have been talking about abortion... Here is my view and some other people's views.

So there has been a huge debate about abortion where I am. Many of my friends consider themselves “Pro-life”. I consider myself “Pro-choice.” I think a woman has the right to choose between a 300$ abortion or a thousand dollars in bills raising a child not to mention a dead beat father to deal with if you are in an abusive relationship, which in reality is not fair to the child. Abortion doesn’t sound too bad when you think about the money or the relationship issues, now does it?

I am “Pro-choice” but many people think I am for murder. I’m not for murder but these idiots I know think of abortion as murder. What about when you eat food? Isn’t that murdering plants or animals depending on what diet you eat? What about the cars people drive? Isn’t that killing the atmosphere? How about when you kill a pesky insect, say like a mosquito? Are you really “Pro-life” if you do any of those things? No! You’re not! Get over it!

So, I have found some people who hold some of the same beliefs I have. Of course they are all dead now, except for one of them I think. Still, they had very good points. Yes, they are comedians. If you think about it though, anyone can be a comedian. All you have to do is speak the truth and people find it entertaining because deep down they know it is the truth!

I don’t own the videos in any shape or form. Enjoy them though and watch the truth fold out before you…

Here's a list of ten comedians I believe deserve honorable mentions.

This is in no way an official list of any kind. It is merely my opinion, and was put together off the top of my head and without much research.

10. Adam Sandler- Sandler has been doing comedy for years. He has been in many movies, including Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy. He is certainly a funny guy, and thus, receives a spot on my list.

9. Eddie Murphy- Though his most recent movies have been well… He has had a long and distinguished career, and thus, he brings in the ninth spot on the list.

8. Carlos Mencia- Though his vulgarity and constant race jokes turn some people off, he delivers good points on society. He can offend you then turn around make you laugh in a split-second.

7. Ray Romano- Though I’m not too familiar with his stand up,but his show is hilarious and it’s been on forever, so he gets slot number 7.

6. Chris Rock- Chris Rock does it all, stand up, movies, TV. He’s my number 6.

5. Jerry Seinfeld- Like Ray Romano, his TV show has been on for years.

4. Dane Cook- Though his actual jokes may lack sometimes, he makes up for it with his character, timing, and energy.

3. Robin Williams- He’s done stand up for years, and been in dozens of movies. His voices are great, and timing superb. He’s one of a kind.

2. Jeff Foxworthy- You might be a redneck if…

1. Jeff Dunham- He’s six comedians in one. He’s hilarious and multi-talented, and therefore he’s my number 1.

Comedy isn't a new phenomenon; it's been around for thousands of years. Here are a few of my favorites!

Ask ‘n’ people to each name his or her ten favorite comedians, and you’re likely to end up with ‘n’ different lists, more or less.

Ask ‘n’ people to each name his favorite type of humor, and you’ll end up with a variety of types as well.

Through the ages, there have been humorous writers, humorous song writers, and humorous individuals or teams who have delighted audiences world wide.

So you think that humor is mostly a Twentieth Century (and beyond) phenomenon? Think again (buddy). I would love to be able to have Geoffrey Chaucer over for dinner and have him read his Miller’s Tale (from Canterbury Tales) aloud; or perhaps Shakespeare and friends could perform an act or two from such delightful plays as The Tempest (to see the antics of Stephano and Trinculo) or Midsummer Night’s Dream (when Bottom “acquires” the head of a donkey).

But even those humorous episodes in literature are relatively new compared to how far back recorded humor goes. The Bible has numerous comical scenes. Remember when the angel frees Peter from prison, and Peter goes to a widow’s house and knocks on the door, which is answered by a servant girl? The girl is so excited to see Peter that she slams the door in his face without inviting him in, and Peter continues knocking while the people inside the house are telling the girl that she’s crazy. Or how about the time Paul was giving a long sermon and Eutychus fell asleep, the only problem being that Eutychus was sitting on the window ledge and he fell out! Remember Balaam’s donkey, who talked to his master? Imagine how surprised Balaam was!

And even before these Biblical stories, there is humor to be found in ancient Greek and Chinese texts, as well as in others.

Humor is not new. Now, it’s true that styles and types of humor can change over time, and different eras have unique types of humor, both in content and method of delivery. The basic concepts of humor though — being able to laugh at one’s self, being able to laugh at or with someone else, and being able to laugh at comical situations — have existed for thousands of years.

The process of thinking that something is funny (or not) is a subjective thing. Much of what I think is funny (e.g., Monty Python), my wife doesn’t really appreciate. My thoughts are that her humorous side just has not fully developed yet; her thoughts are that I haven’t totally grown up yet.

In some sense it is irrelevant whether we agree that a particular comedian is funny; I think we can all acknowledge that certain individuals have had key contributions to humor through the ages.

All that being said, I have some favorite “old time” comic scenes, situations, and dialogues, and I have more recent favorites. You will have heard of most of these, but there may be a surprise in here for you.

Who’s on First is a classic in American humor, playing on a combination of the American fascination with the sport of baseball as well as a bit of Vaudeville humor. Here we have Abbott and Costello in their most famous routine.

Others in the early Twentieth Century included Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, Laurel and Hardy, and a bit later the Three Stooges. Jack Benny, Mel Blanc, George Burns, and countless others who also graced the stage and added thousands of hours of laughter to the annals of comedic history.

In my family, the Marx Brothers’ films have been met with mixed reviews. I love the Marx Brothers though and am including them here, partly because I’m the one putting this list together, but also because of the impact these guys have had on comedy.

Remember the line, “The other night, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. What he was doing in my pajamas, I’ll never know?” That came from the Marx Brothers.

Red Skelton paved the way with a gentler kind of humor, using facial expressions and body language heavily, especially in his pantomime routines. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in Omaha, Nebraska back in the early 1980s, and that was the hardest I have ever laughed in my life.

Bob Hope was another great one; with his classic baby faced look and the ability to deliver lines with a complete deadpan countenance, he was hilarious.

In this scene, we have Red Skelton and Bob Hope together.

Bob Newhart has always been one of my favorites, whether from his television shows in the 1970s and 1980s or from his comedy skits. Here’s a great scene with Newhart and Dean Martin.

The old Carol Burnett show was one of my favorites, and week after week that show had me laughing so hard that my side would ache. Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were stars on the show who often had trouble keeping straight faces during the skits. This is one of my favorites.

My wife and I saw Jerry Seinfeld at a comedy club in Raleigh in the late 1980s. This was just after he had appeared on Carson but before his first appearance on Letterman (and long before his television show), and he was absolutely hilarious.

One of my favorite comedians in recent years has been Steven Wright, whose low key delivery itself is funny. His content has always reminded me of sort of a stand up version of the Gary Larson “Far Side” cartoons.

Of course, Steve Martin ranks up there on the list of many, along with Martin Short, Chevy Chase, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Sid Caesar, Lucille Ball, and Robin Williams. The more I list, the more I remember.

One comedian who has become a family favorite in just the past few months is comedian ventriloquist Taylor Mason, who is not only a gifted comedian but also a talented musician. His material is clean and family friendly, and he’s hilarious. I hope you enjoy this next piece. If you haven’t heard Taylor Mason before, you’re in for a treat. I encourage you to find and watch more of his stuff.

The ability to laugh is a blessing; it can relieve stress, it can reduce anxiety, and it can provide a fellowship among friends that is both healing and soothing.

You’ve heard the old adage: Laughter is the best medicine. It’s true!

Who are some of your favorite sources of laughter?

The greatest American Comedians of all time.

Mitch Hedberg

“My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana. I said no, but I want a regular banana later, so yes.” Mitch Hedberg did mostly stand-up comedy, although he has guest appeared on some sitcoms, such as “That 70’s Show.” His dry humor and slow witted delivery will have you giggling long after the show’s over. If you have never heard Hedberg before try his stand-up show, “Mitch All Together.”

Bill Cosby-

“A word to the wise ain’t necessary – it’s the stupid ones that need the advice.” Bill Cosby is an actor, producer, and author, but he is most famous for being a great comedian. Cosby has been around for a while, and has a very intelligent way with his humor. If you have never heard Bill Cosby stand-up, try his album, “To Russel, My Brother, Whom I Slept With.”

Roseanne Barr

“Women complain about PMS, but I think of it as the only time of the month when I can be myself.” Most people know her from the ABC series, Roseanne. Before this popular show catapulted her forever into fame, she was already fairly popular from her stand-up comedy routine. Try her stand-up show from “Comedy Central Presents.”

Jon Stewart

“Ahh, Earth Day, the only day of the year where being able to hacky-sack will get you laid.” Stewart started off as a stand-up comedian, but branched out early on to hosting TV shows. This turned out to be the right path for him, as he is now one of the most famous hosts on television. His real, fake news show, “The Daily Show,” is a must watch.

Eddie Murphy

“If I don’t die in a plane crash or something, this country has a rare opportunity to watch a great talent grow.” Eddie Murphy is an award winning actor, producer, film director, comedian, and singer. Though his career has been long and prestigous, nothing is quite as funny as watching him let loose a string of high pitched curses in his early stand-up shows. Try his “Greatest Comedy Hits” compilation album.

Jerry Seinfeld

“It’s amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper.” Jerry Seinfeld has made “observational comedy” famous with his popular sitcom, “Seinfeld.” If you’ve never seen “Seinfeld,” start with the early seasons and watch them progress from year to year.

Ellen DeGeneres

“My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She’s ninety-seven now, and we don’t know where the hell she is.” Ellen is an eleven time Emmy award winner, but she got her start early on by being one of the funniest female comedians around. Try her album, “Taste This.”

George Carlin

“What if there were no hypothetical questions?” George Carlin is famous for his dark humor. For years he has been making people laugh about many taboo subjects, ranging from politics to religion. Try his early HBO Special, “Carlin at Carnegie.”

Richard Pryor

“Friends take up time, and I didn’t have time.” Pryor was best known for his “in your face” approach to comedy. Regarded by many as the best comedian of his time, he brought to light such subjects as racism and class. Try Pryor’s compilation, “Richard Pryor Live!”

Robin Williams

“God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time.” Robin Williams’ brain works at about 10 times the speed of a normal person. His improvisation skills are second to none in the world of comedy. His stand-up show, “Live on Broadway,” is a must see for everyone.

Introducing the new and interesting comics of today.

Most are familiar with comedy in today’s world. You can tune into the comedy channel and see comics performing their act. On friday nights, the comedy channel is set aside for just comics doing their stand up act. There is also the show called, “The Last Comic Standing,” where new comics compete to win the title as the last comic standing. Yes, you guessed it the winner obtains a cash reward.

So, essentially this article is a tribute to some of my favorite comedians out there today.

First of all, there is Jeff Dunham. What can I say about him? He is very talented with what he does. Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist. So far he has six puppets, starting with his most famous: Peanut, Jose Jalepeno, Walter, Sweet Daddy D, Bubba J, and Melvin the Superhero. In my opinion his funniest character is Peanut. The reason to why is just how offbeat and crazy he is. Jeff Dunham’s whole act is just superbly amazing. Ventriloquists talent stun me every time with how they can talk without moving their lips, and Jeff does not fall short in that task.

Then, another favorite comic of mine is Frank Caliendo. I saw him performing on the Comedy Channel one night and thought…who the heck is this guy? But, then he did the voice of John Madden and I thought he had a great talent. This guy can pretty much do the voice of any male celebrity out there. I have heard him do the voice of the president, John Madden, Dr. Phil, Adam Sandler, and Robin Williams. I find it so intriguing when comics do voice imitations.

Next is: Dan Cummings. I first saw this guy on Gotham Live, which is one of my favorite comedian shows. I thought Dan was just amazing. The last season of Last Comic Standing he was one of the competitors. I was very disappointed to see that he did not make it very far in the competion.

Then finally, for this edition of my tribute to comedians article, I will leave with the comedy of Mr. Dane Cook. I am pretty sure everyone who likes comedy has heard of him. He is an actor as well. He will be playing in the up and coming, “My Best Friend’s Girl” movie. I heard him years ago and have seen his show on the Comedy Channel. His humor is very off beat and different. I think that is what I like best about Dane Cook.

So, for this edition of my Comedy Journal, those are my top four favorites. I hope you enjoyed the article and I will leave you all with a clip from one of the four comedians.

Thanks to baddudenorris for the use of the clip.

These five gentleman will make you forget your worries.

With so many troubles in the world today, it is easy to feel discouraged and frustrated. Which is why it is important to remember to laugh, I have compiled a list of the five funniest male comedians, who when I listen too always make me smile, hopefully they will do the same for you.

1. Bowser and Blue

This comedy duo from Montreal, create innovative and accurate jingles which can make you laugh and clap all day long. Having songs for all types of situations, political, life crises, sports, they have it all each as funny and original as you can ever get. Whether you’re one of the Bold is Beautiful people, or even one who has had a trip to Where the sun don’t shine , you’ll have loads of fun.

2. Jeff Dunham

A ventriloquist with an entourage of humoristic dummies, Jeff Dunham can make you laugh long through the night. His more popular puppets include Walter a bitter old man who gripe about almost everything, and remind you to “shut the hell up”. Peanut is a purple woozle, who’s frantic antics can keep you on your toes even when he tries to eat Jeff’s nose. Finally one of his newest puppets Achmed the dead terrorist, reminds everyone that life after death can still be funny as hell, but don’t annoy this Halloween ornament or you’ll hear him say “I kill you”. A lot of Jeff’s skits can be offensive to many ethnicities, so beware if those types of jokes are not to your liking.

3. John Pinette

John is a big guy who loves his food, and is always trying to slim down, and has succeeded. His jokes can only be described as larger than life, as whether you listen to how he “hydroplanes across the pool and out into the parking lot” at a water park, or simply enjoying one of the many crazy nutritionists he’s had to deal with, you’ll be splitting your gut laughing for hours on end.

4. Jeremy Hotz

If ever you needed to be reminded of all the “Miserable places” that there are in life, Jeremy Hotz can tell you about them. Whether it’s Ikea, the gym, or L.A. He’ll remind why those places suck, his annoyance and depressing voice will allow you to connect with all those times that you’ve both had, and look at them in a better and humoristic way.

5. George Carlin

George Carlin is a legend and has been around to make a joke about everything, his masterful play with words will leave you tongue tied and laughing all at the same time. If ever you needed to think of how stupid airlines are his airline announcements will remind that English is not at all used there.
