Kids will get into all kinds of scrapes. It goes with the territory. But it's the parents responsibility to show the child the error of their ways and teach them to take responsibility for their actions. Parents today are too prone to excuse the child for their transgressions and make life too easy. Every parent would like to consider themselves as friend to the child. Unfortunately that's not the parent's job. The parent's job is to guide the child into a responsible adulthood. The following rules can help you if your child shows bad behavior.

I’m sure you have heard this expression ” When a child gets to be about thirteen the mind opens up and the brains fall out.” Most parents will agree if they have a young teenager. All kids do stupid things. But you as the parent have the responsibility of seeing that your child behaves in a way that is friendly to the community in which he or she lives and injures no one. If your child does offend, there is still a valuable lesson for learning and for the child’s personal growth. If your child commits a crime you want to handle it so it will be his last.

1. If no law has been broken, help your child make a list of everyone effected by the incident, including by standers, and other kids suspected or implicated.

2. Ask your child to figure out the proper compensation. It can take the form or repairing the damage, as in replacing a broken window, money or a written apology. The money must be the child’s own and must be offered in person with a letter accepting responsibility and apologizing.

3.Don’t tell your child that he can expect this will let him off the hook. Tell him doing the right thing is an end in itself regardless of what happens afterwards.

4. If the child has broken the law, contact the police officer, explain your plan, and ask for advice. Police officers are only too pleased to help. Seeing the adults on the same side will show your child that a community of adults is committed to peace and justice.

5. Smart kids will try to “reason” their way out of the consequences. Ban such discussions. Instead focus on how thoughtless, harmful behavior offends other humans whose feeling for pain is as real as our own.

6. If drugs are involved, it must be recognized and dealt with, it should never be allowed to excuse bad behavior. Apologies and reparations are still required for the offense and steps must be taken for the abuse of drugs.

7. It’s to be understood that not everyone will accept your child’s apology or attempts to offer restitution. If his efforts are rejected, the parent must affirm the child’s value and attempts to do the right thing. Let your child know that he has regained your trust by trying to make amends. More than likely this will be his first and last attempt at crime.

Cyberbullying is harmful to our society, but there's nothing one can legally do about it. That must be changed.

There is currently no adequate punishment for those who cyberbully.
There have been a number of cases in the past few years, of harassment and bullying online, which has led to disorders in a number of kids; and in some, the eventual result was suicide. One of the biggest problems that those with authority face at the current moment is how to go about punishing those who harass and bully. There’s a problem, but there’s no real solution. By criminalizing cyberbullying, authorities would have the jurisdiction to properly punish offenders, from the minor cases to the severe ones. Making cyberbullying a criminal offence will lay a foundation for decreasing the effects of cyberbullying; it will lay a foundation upon which even more strides can be taken to effectively decrease the effects of cyberbullying in our society.

The criminalization of cyberbullying will deter cyberbullies because of subsequent consequence.

According to Emily Noble, president of the Canadian Teacher Federation, the difference between bullying and cyberbullying is that cyberbullying has yet to be addressed properly. She calls cyberspace the “new playground,” and says “we’ve taught the kids in terms of face-to-face and the physical bullying but this is in fact a new space.” She also admitted that what differentiated cyberbullying from regular bullying was the anonymity which the bully has. Because of the anonymity of mediums such as email, text, and just the internet in general, bullies have an easier time targeting and harassing their prey. Because the fact remains that cyberbullying is not at the combatable at the current time, it shows the need for action to be taken. By criminalizing cyberbullying, the protection of anonymity which the ‘cyberbully’ currently has can theoretically be eradicated, and punishments can be instated. Criminalization of cyberbullying, in other words, can lead to a stronger foothold in the fight against cyberbullying, and it can lead to even more action being taken to prevent cyberbullies from effectively bully

One major problem that faces the world today is the rapid growth of population,

One major problem that faces the world today is the rapid growth of population, often referred to as population explosion. Until about 800 AD the world’s population stayed below 200 million. Since then it has risen dramatically. The Rise has been greatest in 20th century. The population has recently risen to about six billion: it is three times as large as it was in 1960. It is not so much the actual population as its rate of increase that is alarming. Experts predict that by 2020 there will be about ten billion people, causing serious problems of hunger, overcrowding and environmental pollution.

This enormous increase of population is due to better food, better hygiene and, above all, the advances made in medicine. Rapid developments in modern medicine have conquered many diseases and consequently the death rate has decreased. Until the beginning of the 19th century most people died before the age of 50. Today in developed countries the average lifespan has risen to more than 70 years. The population goes on increasing at an alarming rate in spite of the practice of birth control in many ports of the world. Thomas Malthus, a British mathematician and economist, went to the extent of declaring that, if unchecked, human population would grow in geometric progression (i.e. 1,2,3,8 and so on) while food production could only grow in arithmetic progression (i.e. 1, 2; 3, 4 and so on). He was, of course, very pessimistic.

With a population of over one billion, India is the second most populous country in the world. (China is the first.) India’s population has risen drastically since 1950: the population today is 2½ times as large as it was in 1950. It is rising by 2.9 per cent per year, and in consequence, every year an extra 26 million people have to be provided for. The government is taking measures to check the population growth and a large percentage of people practice birth control. Recent advances in framing have made the country productive enough to feed the present population. Failure to arrest further increase of population may have disastrous effects, though there seems to be some truth in the statement made by Julian Simon of the University of Maryland: according to him, although population growth means there will be more mouths to feed, there will be “more hands to work and more brain to think.”

What is existentialism? It's quite easily one of the most important philosophies of the 19th and 20th centuries. A philosophy that puts you as the sole decider in your life, in bringing your own meaning to life, and through your own actions shaping who you become in life.

Existentialism in short, is a philosophy focused on our path to self discovery, and our personal interpretation in the meaning of life based upon our values and free will. An Existentialist tends to think and act independently of any outside influence, and in doing so becomes totally responsible for their reasoning and chosen path in life. You define whats morality based upon personal experience and accept full responsibility for who you are. Your personal responsibility to yourself is vital in your journey in ensuring you think for yourself, and reach your potential as an individual. Individualism is the core of existentialism , and anything that diminishes our freedom to think and act independently, is contradictory to the existentialist ideology.

A brief history;

Existentialism first coined by the french philosopher Gabriel Marcel just after WW2 (decades after his first writings on existentialism), draws its roots from the works of Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard from the 1830s. Soren Kierkegaard and Friedrich Nietzsche became the original pioneers of the philosophy in its early days. Both philosophers writings focused on our journey for meaning in an otherwise meaningless life. They were first to also focus on how the direct impact of our own choices based upon free will, shape our very identity and thus reflect our ability to decide upon our own fate and normality. After the second World War popularity of existentialism reached greater heights as Jean Paul Sartre, an atheist existentialist, and other french writers Albert Camus and Simone De Beauvoir gained widespread recognition for their literature and lectures on existentialism. Albert Camus further stressed that we as individuals owe it to ourselves to find meaning in whatever we do in life, like the work we do. Leading Existentialists varied from theological existentialists like Paul Tillich to atheist existentialist like Sartre. Its because of the diversity in thinking within existentialism, that one has the freedom to chose as they wish what holds most relevance to them.

A brief understanding of what existentialism implies;

One of the core concepts behind existentialism is that existence precedes essence. This means that there’s no predetermined meaning in life, and that this meaning is a product of our existence and our choices in life. Existence precedes essence although first coined by leading post WW2 existentialist Sartre, has been the core to existentialism since the days of Kierkegaard in the pioneering era. The idea stands firmly that life is what we make it. The other idea being that we take full responsibility for our actions as our actions are reflective of our individual freedom. We therefore need to understand that we are responsible for any consequence based upon our choice, and thus be in tune, and accept our angst as the resulting factor in our freedom. Our freedom is also determined by the measure of responsibility we wish to take in our life. Existentialism also dismisses using our past as a reason to to justify why we are as we are. If we do base ourselves on the past, we are in doing so dismissing our current choice of freely choosing the way we live life. The past is but a friction of reality if you dismiss the present and the possibility of the future, and to base your identity solely on the past and use it as an excuse to live life a certain way, is self defeated and not a means of properly determining our identity. The other factor being that we should be who we are, and not what we think we should be based upon outside influences and perceptions. In short we must stay true to ourselves. Reason and its limited role when making choices based upon personal experience and freedom of will is also emphasised. Its implied that we are above rationality as its defunct in its function, and insufficient in allowing us to truly think for ourselves free of all perceived values, norms, and so called rational. Thus rational thought is purely determined by the individual. In short our individuality through our freedom of choice determines essence in our life.

Are we all existentialists in our own way?

I believe we are, though through varying degrees. If you subscribe to the ‘life is what you make it’ ideology its likely your also to a degree, an existentialist yourself . Ask yourself; who determines the meaning of your life? Who determines your values and personal interpretation of rational? Who is ultimately to blame for the current state in your life? Whose held accountable for your actions and decisions? If your answers lead to you, its evident that you understand already the power of existentialist thought. You tend to be in control of your life, and refuse to forever blame your past or outside influences for your life. Your truly free! To the people who don’t subscribe to existentialist though, i ask you to further familiarise yourself with this very extensive philosophy and ask yourself the hard questions in life.

In the meanwhile get a copy of the movie ‘In Bruges’ (2008), directed by Martin McDonagh and starring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell. The movie is a crime drama which is based upon an existentialist backbone. The movie easily gives us the best performances of both Gleeson’s and Farrell’s career, its a captivating movie that best portrays the power of existential thought.

Difficult times and seasons are not uncommon, but our attitudes to life's problems, disappointments, and failures determine our survival. Here are ten simple ways to maintain the right attitude in challenging situations.

Image via Wikipedia

Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude: Since not all of life’s experiences are pleasant, the only way to maintain stability at all times is to be thankful for all things. Thankfulness does not mean that you have chosen the easier way of ignoring your tragedies; rather it speaks of a renewed hope for now and the future.

Understand That Your Life’s Script is Not Written By You: Given the fact that you are not the author of your life’s script, you can be sure that whatever life throws at you, even if it appears to be a consequence of your choices or a well thought out plan gone bad, you can always write it off as a mistake, wish yourself better luck next time, and simply move on. All your experiences are part of an ultimate script. The casting director who is God himself, did not make the wrong choice in handing you the role(s) of your life. Trust in his right judgment and believe that no one can play your role better than you can. Therefore, you are already well-equipped for all the events of your life, including those that you may call mistakes and misfortunes.

Its Not All About You: Keeping this point close to your heart is very important. Remember that somewhere out there, somebody is experiencing something similar, or even worse than your current circumstance(s). People are always watching our attitudes and you never know who you may be mentoring by maintaining the right attitude through your struggles.

Smile: Cheer up! Things could be worse. Smile! It may increase your face value. No matter what your failures are, remember that there is always something to look forward to. Whatever you desire and do not possess is more likely than not in the hands of someone around you. Wearing a frown will keep people away from you and reduce your chances of getting the favor of others. A good smile reduces those wrinkles and makes your heart merry. In addition, it creates an aura around you that draws other people towards you. This in turns brings your heart’s desires to your doorsteps.

Keep Hope Alive in Your Heart: This will make you sing even in the midst of life’s disappointments and frustrations.

Create Stepping Stones from Stumbling Blocks: Consider every disappointment in your life as an opportunity to get closer to your inner being; the seat of divine guidance and wisdom that lies within you. Accept each of your shortcomings as a way of introducing you to a higher level of understanding.

Make Your Plans, but Let God Direct Your Actions: You will be much happier if you realize and clearly understand the following fact early enough in life. It is very good for you to make plans, but only if you trust God’s outcome and not yours. For as long as all the variables that may affect the outcomes of your strategies are not entirely under your control, you can only depend on hope.

Learn to Laugh: It is actually quite therapeutic to have a hearty laugh ever so often. While reminding you that you cannot take life too seriously, it increases the overall wellness of your being! Thus, it elongates your life and leaves you with more happy memories through it all.
Understand That Life is Not a Problem: Some people spend an entire lifetime putting out insignificant fires, solving unnecessary problems, and setting things up around them to avoid any future problems. They end up being caught up in a cobweb of intrigue and needless complications, that they forget to live. Life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived. Relax in the divine wisdom of the God head to see you through the mysteries of life as they unfold before you.

Realize That a Grateful Heart is a Merry One: The best prescription for a life filled with joy and happiness is a grateful heart. Remember, you can always choose to sing and dance in the rain instead of complaining about the weather.

Real courage means being able to admit your mistakes and accepting the full consequence of what comes after them.

When we hear the word “bravery or courage”, what’s the 1st thing that comes to mind? Soldiers at war? A lot of times we think of it in terms of physical strength or sort of heroic deeds. Yet..

Real courage means being able to admit your mistakes and accepting the full consequence of what comes after them, plus taking full responsibility for your words, actions and deeds.

Real bravery means accepting and acknowledging your limitations and a willingness to constantly work on it and seek improvement.

Real courage means being honest with others and “just be yourself” amid all the world of superficiality.

Real bravery means standing up and speaking out for what you believe is the right thing and if need be , to fight for it.

Real courage means not being afraid to take risk and having the heart to stand up after a rough stumble.

A lot of them out there thought by “being loud, yelling at people and being controlling is the epitome of courage. That’s just not so. By doing so, they’re actually exposing their own weakness without even realizing it. On the other hand, those who turn the other cheek and walk away from provocations are considered the “cowards”. Don’t be swayed into it. Remember it’s just a society label and nothing more. After all courage also includes being able to forgive and let-go.

An afterthought : Real courage and bravery means learning to love and respect yourself.

I’ll make it nice and simple. You get one good thing out of cheating, but you get three bad things out of it. I’m not a mathematician, and I’m certainly not a calculus teacher, but isn’t three greater than one?

The only good thing that you get out of cheating is that you accomplished whatever it is that you wanted to accomplish. Whether it is beating a game, or passing a test, you accomplished it.

There are, however, three bad things that you get out of cheating :

Whatever consequence you get when you get caught.

The knowledge that you cheated.

The knowledge that you could’ve prevented the consequence by not cheating.

I hope this article has changed your ways.

There are several things one should consider before having an abortion.

Every one of us should have an in-depth understanding to learn about numerous threats in regard of the abortion issues that may influence our life either psychologically or physiologically. Not to mention modern people themselves, the professional specialist may have paid less attention to the serious problems arising from the act of abortion.

One should know the painful experiences during the procedure of abortion before she reaches maturity (17 years old or even earlier than that). Parents should explain to their child the harmful effects of abortion in details. This is important to help them to grasp a concept of abortion.

The research conducted by the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the United States has given us profound evidences about the negative impacts of abortion. Their outcomes are as follows:

23% of abortion victim will often live in hallucination.

35% of abortion victim will always have a strange believe that the child who was being taken comes to visit her in her imagination.

54% of abortion victim will have more frequent abortion-related nightmares.

69% of abortion victim will always survive in a crazy and scary world.

73% of abortion victim will always have her mind keeps on recalling the painful moment of abortion that she had gone through.

81% of abortion victim will feel sick thinking of her child who was being taken away.

61% of abortion victim will start and increase the intake of alcoholic drinks.

65% of abortion victim will always prone to commit suicide.

77% of abortion victim will likely to isolate her from communicating with a group of people.

69% of abortion victim will experience less sexual instinct.

81% of abortion victim always likes to close her in a room. She will cry quietly there.

The common abortion consequences include infertility, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, internal bleeding and infection, fatigue, shock and coma, uterine perforation, peritonitis, intense pain, anorexia, poor appetite, loss of body organs, decreased ability to work and a very intense spirit of post-abortion feeling.

In terms of psychological consequences, their symptoms include feelings of guilt, an intense spirit of committing suicide, regret, loss of self-confidence, low self-esteem, hostility, despair, helplessness, loss of sexual instinct, a strong instinct to end up partner and family relationships, a blame of self-wrongdoing and always in a state of terrible dreams.

Abortion increases the risk of deaths among the females. The proportion of deaths among the abortion victims is three times higher than a pregnant mother who delivers the birth in a year. The cases of abortion victims who commit suicide are six times higher than the pregnant women in a year. In a year, the fatal risk on the cause of accidents among the abortion victims is three times higher than a normal person in a year. Within a year, the rate of abortion victims who tend to injure themselves is 13 times higher than pregnant women. The above mention data is derived from a Finland report in 1997. This report is a big success of scientists to study the statistics of abortion victims. The data should give the public awareness towards the negative impacts of abortion.

A study conducted by Minnesota of the United States pointed out those females who engaged with abortion has 10 times higher risk of committing suicide within half a year as compared to those who has never experienced abortion. Another report shows that the more frequent the females undergoing abortion, the risk of suffering from body pain, psychological disorders is always more than 10 times higher or may at an extremely higher state that one may expect. Therefore, the role of parents in alerting their children against abortion is deemed necessary and important so as to save their children from becoming victims of physical and mentality disorder.
